Fighting on Mac

So I have a macbook, and I am hoping to play fighting games online.

Could anyone direct me to the best arcade sticks and/or converters that are compatible with mac?

I would look around the Linux forums for support.

Check this one out.

lmao

if all else fails you can dual-boot windows!

Good luck. Offline you can always use MAME OSX though. Runs great on my MBP.

Any good USB stick/adaptor should work.

The Joybox PSX to USB converter works great.

That is awesome.

Ouch. I suppose I could still get a converter for the sake of playing the games (even if it is just solo).

I’ll probably just buy a 360 stick and wait for the good fighting games to be released. Thanks for the help!

I installed Windows XP into BootCamp just so I can play on 2df.

if you are referring to a single click mouse, then it would be funny. but macs have converted to using double clicks. so the new trackpads have left and right clicks though still visually a single click.

would be funny, for old technology that is. :]

i’m on a imac, as well as a macbook.
i usually run on windows to play fighting games, but also use a mac mame.
a simple converter should work since thats what i’m running on. i don’t exactly know what brand it is, since i’m not at home right now.

Cthulhu works great with Mac (I play a little on Mame).

Okay, sorry!

If you get a 360 controller, it’s already USB, no need for a converter (do Mac drivers exist for 360 controllers? I dunno, but if it’s possible it’s possible through software).

Don’t hold your breath for fighting game releases for a Mac… most fighting games are released on ps3/360, psn/arcade, Windows, or arcade-only. The fighting game crowd (especially 2d) is SMALL compared to the people who play FPS, RPG, MMORPG, action/adventure games, etc…

I don’t wanna be the guy who pushes the Windows is better than Mac bullshit eternal argument, but really… for fighting games Mac is limited to MAME, online doesn’t exist. Install Windows through boot camp so you can play GGPO or 2df if you want to play online.

BOOM! Took me a relistic 5 seconds of google-time to find that driver for the Xbox joystick on OSX.

The rest of you should feel ashamed for making fun of him* I’d ask one of the major stik makers here (*COUGH COUGH! Byrdo) to make you an xbox stick.

  • It was funny, though.

I can vouch for this. Cthulhu on Mac makes gettin’ in a little MAME action easy.

I don’t think anyone was really concerned about the ability to get a stick to work, we’re concerned about the OSX library for fighters being thin other than MAME titles, but that’s easy to fix with a dual-boot or virtual machine (or Windows emulator), so that’s not really a big deal either. Good find, though.
