Yes it’s tomorrow sat 3rd April. Just a tad late posting this then…
Bad news: Unless you’re content to play outdated versions of Tekken 6 or VF5 there’s nothing for you in Dublin’s arcades (or at least in Dr. Quirkey’s, the main arcade. I don’t think anywhere else in Dublin has fighting games at all, though.) Also, no MVC2 scene to speak of.
Good news: There is a healthy (and growing) Street Fighter scene in Dublin. Tomorrow there will be a free SSF4 launch event (see previous post) and there are regular meetups at the same venue. Check out http://streetfighter.ie/ and http://boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1204 if you want to know more about the Irish fighting game community.
I missed the SSF4 launch event, but hopefully i’ll be back in Ireland, cause im on tour and will be in Europe for the whole month, till about June 6th. Thanks guys!
Anyone in derry? We have a goming club at the University, Core. Its off for the summer, but still, we all meet up occasionally for hardcore sessions, if anyone’s up for it get back to me.
I’m not to familiar with the derry scene (though i know there is something up there) The Dragonslayers guys in Belfast would be the next closest bet they run regular tournaments etc and would know the lay of the land up there.
you should PM Yerval at the top of the page, I’d bet he’d be able to fill you in better.
I will be traveling to Ireland late August and I was wondering if there are any arcades in/around Dublin? Not a crucial thing, but my GF wants a day with her friend and I would like to kill the time playing some Super or whatever.
Hi man, no real arcade around (well not with SF anyway) However there is a strong community and we hold SSFIV tournaments etc in gaming cafes and the like.
Every Sat and Wednesday we have casual games (if a tournament is not taking place) and outside of those days people would be happy to meet up with you for a some games.
Ireland’s Premiere Super Street Fighter IV Tournament; Inferno is back for its Twelfth edition in its former home @the XGC lower Liffy Street Dublin (beside H’penny Bridge)
