(This post is in hopes that I am not breaking any rules, if so please contact me before deleting this thread… Thanks)
Hello, everyone:
After a lot of thinking, planning and talking amongst themselves, a bunch of disgruntled ( ) Fighting Game players took it upon themselves to make a New Hellenic Fighting Game community, especially after seeing what the hype has done to other communities / countries. We are aiming to become a community worth noting on the FGC world map. So far, we have made a forum in which we will include beginner-to-advanced-and-beyond level info, so that we spread the word about Fighting Games and raise the scene’s level. A site will follow, which will fill people in with happenings and other content.
I’m a Greek but I live in Beijing. Just want to wish you guys good luck! I don’t know if you’ve heard of Greek Dojo. Used to play with those guys a long time ago so I’m not sure if they are still active. In any case, Greece needs more communities as we don’t have an arcade scene.
Thanks! And of course I know Greekdojo, I just feel that there is more to be done in order to set a good, tight community up. I am not claiming to be better or something, just that I want to do stuff like people in Canada (MTLSF), Australia (Shadowloo) etc
Nope, I am from Athens, currently residing in Patras, where I have met some other people that think alike… but we are looking to expand through advertising and XboxLive contacts. In the meantime, we are trying to get our resources together for enriching the forums, working on a site and have some other plans

What you are trying to start already exists 10+ years.
Tournaments have been organized before with players from all over Greece and even Italy, Germany, Austria…(where were you at the time?)
So what you re saying about greekdojo is not true. the site is not for the academy customers only, its for all the people interested in fighting games in Greece.
I have participated in several events with GD years ago and it was a lot of fun. A lot of people put in a lot of effort to build a strong community for Greek fighting fans. That being said, a second community would do a lot of good for the scene as I do believe there still might be more people out there who have yet to tap into the Greek fighting scene. There’s a lot of potential to be had if the scene keeps expanding like this.
To speak the truth what Greece needs is for all the players to come closer. People should start coming to tournaments and show more interest in general. Starting another community isnt gonna help anyone. There is a reason the guys at Greekdojo havent organized any big tourneys or things similar to what other countries do. Greeks are lazy and dont want to travel, most are content with sitting at home and playing online…
Never said anything about either the Greekdojo’s site or anything else for that matter. My comment was on the weekly tournaments Greekdojo is hosting, being only in Athens and not the site or whatever you have understood. I am not a person to fire accusations left and right, but work on and provide solid solutions. For better or for worse, that means what it means. So chill out a bit if it is possible because we started this in order to unite the playerbase, not divide it in any way.
O Shinn-kun imoun. Epaiza tote pou eixe vgei to Tekken 5 kai sapizame. lol Paei arketos kairos den ksero an me thymatai kaneis sas. hehe
I’m going to agree that Greeks are lazy and what needs to be done is for people to come together. But the reality is no one can expect that a central scene in Athens is enough to get people together. In other countries, as far as I know, there are small communities of people in multiple areas. There’s also the fact that very few people in Greece are willing to put up with the hassles that come with running a community. Therefore, my point is that when people like J-Slh step up to make something happen the rest of us should either help out or at least encourage. That is what I feel the real problem with us Greeks is, especially in gaming. Instead of helping each other we bicker and argue. All of this is just my 2 cents, guys. Do what you will with it. Your mileage/experience may vary. etc. etc.
