Right, first off sorry if this is in the wrong section. But is there any sort of fighting scene in the UK in Wales. Please don’y reply telling me about scenes anywhere in England.
I take it your new here.
Did you try searching the SRK Regional Matchmaking World threads? http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?forums/world.119/
You should visit http://www.neoempire.com Its a fighting game community website dedicated to the UK area.
Thanks man much appreciated.
The UK scene is pretty big and has been going on for many years prior to SF4.
Roger - to point you in a more direct area you might want to check out this subforum : http://neoempire.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=147 which is the Bristol/Wales area. We’re very close to Bristol and the South West in terms of players so they grouped us together.
Electronic Dojo is a Birmingham based Fighting community and has started to make it big at top events like EVO.
(Moving to the World forum.)
Hi guys - 1st time poster here. I’m from South London (near Wimbledon) and looking for a sparring/ training partner on PS3. I’ve played SF casually for many many years but want to start taking it seriously.
Any interest PM me, I’ll be maining Akuma.
Hi, another 1st time poster here. Where I am in the UK there is no Fighting game scene. It sucks to be pretty much the only one local who loves fighting games and wants to play almost constantly. That’s why I play GGPO.
@bp957 where in the UK are you based? Have you tried asking around at your school or setting up something like a club there?
@Turn A Turn I live In Suffolk and I’m in Year 10 of my education. Video games at my school are banned But it’s weird, sometimes in the school bulletin some people set up Fifa tournaments on the xbox360 to raise money. And I’ve seen some teachers play xbox in the Performing Arts Center.
I doubt if I try to setup a 3rd strike tournament It’ll be aloud, plus no one at school really knows what the hell Street Fighter is. Except some of my friends.
I’m in the same situation, bp957… No-one at my school (Or Sixth Form now) plays Street Fighter, and the fact that I prefer Third Strike makes it even harder to find people who do the same. I don’t know of any organisations that set up tournaments near where I live either.
Wow! Both interested in Third Strike? Check out this group if you can:

Should be able to hook up with some online players at least, and it wouldn’t hurt to ask through there about your own location. 3s scene is pretty good in Bristol and Newport, and in London you have the Heart of Gaming: https://facebook.com/TheHeartOfGaming.
Upcoming events featuring Third Strike in UK:
Dynamite Rumble - 24th November, Newport tinyurl.com/dynamiterumble + https://facebook.com/events/211494199021814/
Gutter Trash - 8th February, London (Heart of Gaming) guttertrashuk.weebly.com/ + https://facebook.com/events/414347672021530/
There are also sessions every Friday I believe in Heart of Gaming with a regular turnout for 3s.
It would be great if you could make it to any of these!
As for setting up your own scene, it will take a lot of effort and time, and you might just get turned down, but it’s definitely worth a try. Even if you only get one other person into it, that’s someone to play offline casuals with, at least!
Hope that helps.
