In regards to the origins of MvC2 lingo, could someone explain Big Poppa Pump to me? I know who the actual person is, but how it got associated with Sent. I don’t really find it annoying; in fact, it’s a little funny when referring to the big robot.

lol “It is what it is” is a very dated phrase that barely has any ties with fighting games. That is older than fighting games.
“Word is bond,” just like “real talk,” essentially means “I’m telling you the truth” - similar to “for real”, “no joke”/“no lie”, or whatever else has come and gone.

It’s not necessarily a fighting game term, but “swag” and “real talk.” And just anything said by people who try too hard to act tough and hard in the FGC. You play/watch tournaments for video games. You are not “swag.” Neither am I. And I’d hate to be.
Although I still love Yipes’s commentary just because it’s so delightfully random.

It’s been pretty overused. I hate seeing lingo be integrated into visual mediums I suppose. Not hate, but…it just irks me, it’s like people think it’s necessary as opposed to optional.
