Fighting game lingo you find annoying

Looks like that Thread is for elitist snobs that wanna be special.

Asking the average Western player who has no interest whatsoever in anime to keep track of which games are actually based on animes and which aren’t (or are based on visual novels, or manga, or whatever the hell else) is a little much. Let’s not pretend to be confused because “Melty Blood is based on a visual novel, not an anime series, it’s totally different!”

People get mad when the term “Option select” is used wrong, why can’t I be mad?

Especially since there is this stigma that anime fighters are bad.

Anime fighters describes a visual style and set of gameplay mechanics. Being based on an actual anime is totally optional.
It would be fair to say BB is something of an anime game. Is it as “anime” as AH3? No, but from a casual observer, they both have anime-inspired 2D sprites and character designs, airdashes and so forth.

“Happy birthday” is pretty lame. :S

“Kappa” (used on forums) because I have no clue what the fuck it means and there are never any context clues to signify it.

Godlike because it is actually starting to invade my verbal speech.

Top tier/Top 5 because in consideration of how many characters get mentioned, half the cast is in the top 5.

Feliz cumpleamos because Noel Brown does not know Spanish.

I’m going to start using this one, I love it

If you type in Kappa in a stream chat on twitch or justin.tv you will get a face icon that people use when they are being sarcastic. It is probably the most common face icon that pops up in chats. So people write Kappa now in forums or whenever when they are being sarcastic about something.

Thank you. Finally. I’m guessing that’s the “troll face” that gets used so often - obviously I don’t know any of the commands for emotes in twitch.

i know right. it’s like come on now

yaddddda’da mean?

I find pretty much all of it annoying except the technical terms.

hahahah go for it, spread the word!

Meta game. Neutral game. Mango. Cool story bro. Swag.

If you hate the word “swag” you have none.

/real talk

How the hell do you manage to hate the term “neutral game?”

Probly cause I don’t understand how it’s being used. Whenever I ask what it means everyone gets quiet. Seems alot like indecipherable jargon most times I hear/see it, that people just throw out to sound knowledgeable

S-kill’s, “Put on notice”: I am not even sure he knows why he said it so much a few EVO’s back.
“you got drilled” “Drillage”: A local term that still runs in the fighting game circle here and has not stopped getting on my nerves.

For non-fighting game lingo. I am honestly sick of all the meaningless curse words that people spew out for having nothing else better to say. From “fuck” to “damn” to “Oh my G*d”. Especially hearing such language from these young punks who think that saying it gives them power. I would rather happily call someone an apple brain with a side of numb-nuts and chuckle at the idiot’s attempts to digest what I just called them. Curse words are way over rated and way over used. Be creative.

What. The neutral game, generically, just refers to the situation of being “at neutral”, ie, neither player has momentum, rushdown and pressure are not happening and both players are working their footsies and looking to establish whatever form of offense their character and playstyle favors. When referring to someone’s neutral game, for instance “You need to work on your neutral game,” it’s referring to how that person performs at neutral. It’s one of the… More self-explanatory terms that gets commonly used.

Real talk.

As if non “real talk” is fake talk?
