Shouldn’t someone have appeared in the US more than once to count for this? I could maybe see Daigo counting for SF4, but not someone like HeartNana who only came to Evo.
Given that my picks would be:
SF4: Daigo. He’s a frequent enough special guest to get in this, I’d say.
Tekken 6: Sorry everyone, but it has to be NYC Fab. Destroyed the west coast (including Mr. Naps) at Norcal Regionals, just won NEC as well.
HD Remix: Afrolegends. Beat Choi quite convincingly at Evo, and I don’t know if he’s ever placed anything other than first. One of the few true HDR specialists.
Blazblue: Stunedge. Lives in Pittsburgh with no arcades, yet still almost won SBO qualifiers before the console release. Since the console version dropped I don’t think he’s lost a tourney or even come close to losing. Oh yeah, and he’s done all this without playing top 3.
Don’t care about the other awards so much, though I like skisonic + Yipes for commentary.

Nominate anyone that you think has made an impact on our community and has helped make it what it is today. Seb - he has brought the East coast scene to a worldwide audience and most of the zangief fights from my 4GB collection are from his streams.
Im a noob when it comes to the fighting community and what all the hullabaloo is about tourneys and such but this year was a great intro to it all. Saw this on iplaywinner and just thought I’d share my thoughts on some of these awards as I only really know sf4 so I give my thoughts on just that.
SKILL AWARDS
Street Fighter IV Player Of The Year: Justin Wong
When it came to dominating a single game JWong did just that and did so in convincing fashion. For basically most of this year if Wong was entered in a sf4 tourney singles or teams (w/o Daigo) it was just a foregone conclusion he would win and 98 out of 100 times (Damn you Daigo & Marn lol) he would do so. Hell I was starting to have the feeling they should just put JWong in the Grand Finals to start the tourney and have the rest fight to meet him hehe.
Honorable Mention: Daigo
While he was only here 3 times he sure made the most of his time by winning all 3 sf4 single tourneys he was in. Showing 3 other champions he was still the best at Gamestop, beasting the biggest singles field in fighting tourney history at EVO 2k9, and putting a stomping on some of the EC’s best at SB4. After tourneys he made sure he took more money from America’s best in money matches (thx Daigo as if you havent raped us enough lol) . And to top it all off he made Wong of all people just seem like an average Sf4 player lol (“Rufus, Fei Wong, Abel, Viper, Balrog…yeah just keep searching that character select screen maybe you’ll find the answer yet” he probably said). He truly proved why he is “The Beast” and should be recognized for his efforts.

This was not just a normal combo video but a video of where sf games have come and gone which thus added to its awesomeness.

No event made sf4 feel like it was the biggest deal in the world more then EVO 2k9. 1000 people showed up to lay claim to the first evo sf4 title…ahem excuse me as I take a sip of water I SAID 1000 PEOPLE~! showed up to lay claim to the first evo sf4 title! And this year it was streamed for all the world to see for 3 solid days. Over 20000 tuned in to see the gf between 2 scrubs (j/k!) and it was the greatest match ive seen all times all my life.
Tournament/Ranking Battle Series Of The Year: Battlefield Arcadia events.
Truly a showcase of what the EC has to offer from its top players. It really demonstrates the level of play going on in the EC and the level of mortons (when it rains it pours!) going around as well. This series also lets you become really familar with such top players as sanford kelly, andre, chris hu and that Jwong guy.
Commentator/Team Commentary Of The Year: Chris Hu.
Having watched fadc streams you become very familiar with one man. Chris Hu. With his bad engrish but spot on calling of how u should play sf4, this guy has made watching streams enjoyable, confusing, hyped and funny all at the same time.
Stream Of The Year: EVO 2k9.
SF4 action for 3 straight days. Fantastic. Top 8 of mvc2. Marvelous. Top 8 of sf4. Fanfreakingtastic. Daigo vs Wong GF. Greatest match ive seen all times all my life. Best stream ive seen all times all my life.
Best Stream Production: Iplaywinner for Norcal Regionals
Just an awesome intro complete with old old skool movie commercials and NBA on NBC music with the shoruken nba logo made it feel like we were in for quite the show. I know I was definitely not disappointed. Also with actual graphics of who was playing and providing a different feeling with the various graphics displayed really made this a unique production than your standard gaming stream.
Best LOL Moment: Chris Hu’s commentary on Andre vs Daigo Season Beatings 4 Money Match.

Best Villain: Justin Wong
Being the best unfortunately comes with its haters. Whether its winning just any tournament or when he counterpicked Daigo with Fei Wong (People are still Mortons about that one to this day even tho Daigo won and was ok with it lol). Wong would just dehype matches as the crowd and chatrooms alike would just assume he would win and then he’d do so with his regular dominance. I swear I could hear the crowds & people watching on streams groan & leaving for the exits from here lol.
Best Hero: Alex Valle.
Lets be honest when it came to sf4 this just was not the West Coast or more so California’s year. While there was signs the West Coast was falling off this year, Barfights 2 just put the nail in the coffin sort of speak. But one man has made it his mission to prove his coast/state to be better and that man is Alex Valle. He may be old (over 30 = oh my gawd time for a retirement home these days lol) and may not be the dominant player he once was (he’ll hit that FADC Ultra with consistency just u wait world!) but MR SF~! will be damned if his coast/state goes down w/o fighting. With gytnews streams and house of Cicada events, valle is out to prove his coast/state isn’t done for, only just beginning. Hes been making speeches (losing is for faggots!) and actually banning scrubby people from playing with him basically saying level up or GTFO! Its bold and could piss people off but I really hope Cali is listening. Remember Wong is coming and I don’t wanna be watching streams where he is beating u guys with Dan and hosting 1 vs 5 invitational tourneys :arazz:

Sf4 was awesome and Super is looking to be even more awesomeness as well as TVC: ultimate.

This video really captures not just what the crowd was feeling but what the community world was feeling as this match was going on. Two men and I mean MEN fighting for it all. Fighting for who they are, their country, and of course that FIGHT MONAY~!
Street Fighter IV Player Of The Year: Daigo. Dominated every tourney he’s competed in. He is THE man to beat.
BlazBlue Player Of The Year: Stunedge. Not even close. Best Blazblue player by far, and he lives in Pittsburgh, PA. Whatever arcade practice he got came from travelling on his own, and he STILL managed to come close to qualifying for SBO. Since then, he’s dominated tournament after tournament. And while everyone has been bitching about how unbalanced BB is, Stunedge has been winning convincingly with a non-top 3 character.
