You have the sounds of Chun Li being brutally murdered off screen. Then all sound stops and the viewer sees nothing. Eventually her lifeless body hits the ground in a flash. Having Chun Li in the corner is perfect; it leaves that huge dead space for your eyes to constantly dart to, you can’t trust yourself to focus on one spot alone because who knows what’s going to happen? Now you know the killer is still up there, you just don’t know when she’s coming down (surprise is a bomb going off under a table, suspense is knowing the bomb is there, but not knowing when it will go off, anyone? :rolleyes:). An eerie silence for 20 seconds or so. Then boom, she appears over Chun Li’s lifeless corpse, striking adorable poses and speaking cutesy Japanese.
Pretty fucking scary.
