That’s true. It can be very time consuming gathering people and trying to show them interest in the game. I just bought Jojo’s on CPS3 in hopes some of my friends will want in on it. I have a couple friends, who casually play it. I just need to reach out to other people to show them this godly game.
People here are more interested in SF than KOF.
I think I’m also helped by the fact that I was never under the misconception that learning Tekken starts with juggles. It was obvious to me right from the get-go that if you couldn’t move, you couldn’t space. If you couldn’t space, you couldn’t poke and footsie. If you couldn’t poke and footsie, you couldn’t launch or crumple, and all those fancy juggles that the uninitiated fixate on just don’t happen. If you wanted to do anything in Tekken, you had to move before you could attack, and I had enough presence of mind not to just dive right in and start throwing random launchers with no poking plan or ability.
That’s the real reason I stayed away from Tekken for as long as I did; compared to the movement system in Virtua Fighter I just couldn’t get a handle on it. Hell, I STILL don’t have a handle on it, but it’s getting a little easier. It’s a different game, and it will probably never be my main one, but it’s still fun even at the lower levels, and I respect it and the people who play it well.
VF games
I played VF5 it vs a really good player at best buy a long time ago. I lost for a good while then I started learning and winning(abit).
I was so addicted I would go to that best buy just to play the demo for hours. They took it down and I never really had a chance to play again.
