i liked your post !?
but, yeah, that’s almost exactly like my experience so far
if you don’t mind me asking, how old is your hardware ? mine is super ancient (late 2003)
because you said you can play IIX just fine, probably a little less ancient than that ? yeah ?
here’s my interesting story,dear srk friends :
i downloaded fightcade a couple days ago and to cut a long story short…
on ggpo IIX was really fine, neo geo games sorta fine and 3s was choppy aka frameskip hell (i need to ADAPT,dude) but still somewhat playable
on fightcade IIX is choppy, neo geo games are not really playable and 3s…well,NATO recently banned fightcade 3s in more than 30 civilized nations
tried tres once vs a 12 - ping wasn’t that high (60 and something) but i couldn’t see anything
i swear to god : invisible needles, invisible air dash > land > throw forever , impossible to parry normals , etc
bet in his mind he was thinking "roarrr,i’m sick with 12 and i am raping his yun / chun for free"
damn,fck that
i wanted to ragequit like g****** but i still said ggs because i’m polite like that
anyway - another funny story :
so this pof guy is in charge of fightcade, right ?
didn’t know that but he was in the room just as i was asking around - wanted to hear other people’s opinions, you know
he wasn’t very agreeable,i have to say
basically he told moi fightcade is using the same emulator used by ggpo (that much is true,i suppose)
but then added that, because of that very fact i just mentioned,i was lying and / or imagining things
that’s not cool - specially considering he’s the guy in charge and all
didn’t even ask me about my specs, config or anything
he was extremely defensive about his precious fightcade and not helpful at all
i guess that’s fine because his hawk seriously sucks *ss
one last thing :
is it just me or ping values in general are x2 or x3 compared to ggpo ?
for example, french guys were like 40-50 and now they’re all 80-100 and up to 150
i am certain my connection is as good (as bad) as it was before so…something’s up
ggpo was mostly fine on my pc but fightcade was unplayable the couple times i tried it. i used the stock video settings and the ones that i had for ggpo. didnt make a difference. i find it hard to believe that the emulator and netcode are identical. if anything, i woudl expect the matchmaking interface of ggpo to be more resource intensive because of the adobe air requirement.
also ive been on wireless for a few weeks so i cant play on psn either. somebody bring a cab to my house please. either that or im movign to alaska
For some reason it’s not recognizing my fightstick at all. When I try to map inputs I double click on the input to open the prompt but then when I try to do anything on my joystick I get nothing.
Been trying to get FightCade to work, don’t know how exactly to explain my issue but here goes;
I accept or challenge an opponent who accepts, and while the loading window opens up for me, it doesn’t seem to open a window at all for my opponent. After a bit the game will load totally fine for me, going to the character select screen with a second cursor already active despite my opponent not even having a window appear. It will say the game has connected and allow me to do everything normally, but my opponent is never actually there.
This happened once I port forwarded ports 6000~6009 and 7000 and set up a static IP. My XBL and PSN work for 3SOE after opening ports for those networks even better than before I did, and I would always get a Guru Meditation error when trying to connect with anyone on FightCade before. I’ve tried reaching out to FightCade on Facebook and Twitter, but get no response.
Anybody have any ideas as to what’s going on and/or how to fix it?
what you’ve described has happened to me before, but only a few times. does it happen to you for every opponent? i’m not sure why it happens, but it might be related to whether the replay spectator can connect to the game (i think you’ll notice that when it happens, you won’t have any spectators). to test this theory, you could try direct connecting to your opponent by typing “/direct nameOfYourOpponent”. you won’t be able to type to each other and there will be no replay.
edit: thanks to Fran3S, i forgot to mention that both you and your opponent need to use the /direct command.
had another chat with pof, this time the mood was a little more relaxed lol
he explained to me how this fighcade thing works but, yeah, most of it was mumbo jumbo to my ears [and i stupidly forgot to save those messages]
i remember stuff like hole-punching,udb proxy,porco dio,etc etc
it is pretty confirmed at this point that older hardware struggles because…it does
so the idea is to connect directly to your opponent :
basically you should type /direct (name of the other player) and both players clearly have to do this
by doing that,you avoid…something
allegedly, games should run better aka less frameskipping
i will give it a try but not too hopeful that 3.3 is going to become even vaguely playable : \
I’m pretty sure fightcade was built using pyqtggpo which was a third party alternative for the ggpo client. Would be nice to see people tweaking the client for sure!
