Fight On! (SF4, BB, GGAC, ...) - Waterloo, ON - Monday Nov 2nd

Presented by the UWGamers club from the University of Waterloo, this is Fight On!

First and foremost, you should know that ALL prizes will be awarded in the form of gift certificates to Futureshop (due to university club restrictions), so don’t complain if you win any!

SF4 ($5), BlazBlue ($2), and GGAC ($2) are pretty much guaranteed to run. The other games may not, depending on time and turnout. In particular, we’ve never had a good local turnout for Tekken, so if you’re thinking of travelling here just for T6, you probably shouldn’t.

Lastly, the venue has a Tim Hortons and vending machines, but if you want something else to eat, you should buy it first and bring it to the tourney. “The Bomber” is adjacent and serves drinks past a certain time, or something (someone else can post details). Do not bring alcohol or any drugs except cigarettes, because I think everything else is banned on campus.

DATE:
2009 November 2nd

Parking: (instructions to be posted by someone with a car)

Make sure you have someone to call in case you need directions.

OFFICIAL TOURNAMENTS

  • Street Fighter 4
  • BlazBlue
  • Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core

SIDE TOURNAMENTS

  • Soul Calibur 4
  • Tekken 6
  • Project Justice

A side tournament must have at least 8 entrants to run, otherwise there will just be casuals.
Side tournaments may also be cancelled due to a lack of time or resources.

PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
All prizes are awarded as Futureshop gift certificates due to university restrictions. The plan is to overestimate how many people will show up, buy gift certs (lots of $5s, $10s, and $20s) before the tournament, then use the extras for future UWGamers events. This means the prizes have to be awarded in multiples of $5.

The prizes will depend on the # of entrants. Here is exactly how the prizes will be distributed:
http://uwgamers.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=16634#p16634

In summary:

  • Street Fighter 4: the club takes 25% to 30% of the entry fees. The remainder are split roughly 1:2:7 between 3rd/2nd/1st place.
  • $2 entry games: the club takes 37% to 47% of the entry fees. The remainder are split roughly 1:4 between 2nd/1st place.
  • Project Justice: 1st place wins a $5/$10/$15 gift cert for 4/8/12 entrants. If there are 16+ entrants, 2nd place wins a $5 gift cert.

Yes I know this is overcomplicated. Suggestions are welcome. Hate will be ignored.

Here is the UW parking map:

http://parking.uwaterloo.ca/lot-information/map/

Lot A is basically the “front” of the university, Lot M is the closest. Either way, wherever you park, it will be a 2-5 minute walk to the SLC, which is in the middle of the campus. If you can’t find it and are completely lost, look for the construction cranes putting up a massive building in the middle of campus (the new nano center), the SLC is right beside that on Ring Road side.

I finish work at 5:00pm. I’ll boot it up to Waterloo afterwards. Hopefully traffic doesn’t own me.

I’ll be at the SLC at 5pm.

I will be there at 6ish… but I might have to leave at 8pm

My sticks are at Gary’s, so I won’t be bringing them unless Gary does.

Ill might go don’t know far ride

I can’t make it. They offered OT at work.

Guaranteed money > Tournament money

Fixed

p.s. I will be coming with Alex from sauga around 5:45-6. If we happen to be late please register us.

ill remind bill…and i have ur cash from our MM

is alex giving rides?

Justin: we’ll miss your hype.

Ok so, people whom I know might be late:

  • Tik-Tok and John
  • Calvin and Alex

I’ll cover your SF4 entry fees if you’re late.

Anyone else (JS Master, Dice, Buddah, Mosh, etc.): if you’re on your way here but won’t be here by 6 pm, make sure you call someone here and have them pay for your entry.

Mosh, if you decide to come, make sure you’ve got someone to call in Waterloo to ask for directions. Waterloo has ridiculous streets (e.g. streets randomly change names, parallel streets intersect, etc.). Once Jed07 was lost in Waterloo for an hour just trying to find the highway. So even if you plan to arrive before 5, it’s possible to get lost and arrive after 6.

hes not but the go bus that he will be on is.

Scott: thx

p.s. whoever designed waterloo’s roads needs to be shot

fixed lol

Hey Bill,
Johnny just told me he’s sick and can’t make it so please don’t register him.
Also, he was my ride to bring all my crap, so right now I’m scrambling to find another ride. If anyone is willing to pick me up at my place at 5:30 so I can bring my xbox, sticks, and projector, I’d greatly appreciate it, and I’m sure Bill would (hopefully) be willing to delay your match start until we arrived (which should be just after 6ish probably.)

Thanks!

so true

aww gg was at 8? i coulda made it…

Congrats to Blitz.
