FGs You Dislike...but Why?

Battle Fantasia. The aesthetics had alot to do with it. I didn’t like the fantasy setting at all, Catgirl was the only character design I found appealing and as far as gameplay goes, I wasn’t feeling it. It probably going for a Street Fighter-equse game but I couldn’t have fun with it. Fact that no one played the damn thing was the fail nail for me

Ed Boone stabbed my older brother in a bar fight down 'Frisco way.

I’ve never liked MK games since then.

Marvel 3 perhaps…but SFIV? Pretty respectable fighter right there with a deep engine. Currently overshadowed greatly by SFxT to boot.

No sir, you are in the wrong. Retract your unjust hate accordingly.

~TG, Good day to you sir

MvC2 because it’s the same fucking thing as MvC3 but people are too stupid to realize it.

He never said it wasn’t.

Mostly, I created this thread because I thought a game had shitty gameplay, but wasn’t quite exactly sure what constituted that.

everything

if you see me playing a game, that game sucks, i don’t even play that game

if you never see me play a game, that game really sucks, i really don’t even play that game.

The only one I truly dislike that I’ve played was MKVsDC.

One that I don’t like based on Capcom’s business “ethic” if it can be called that, would be SFXT. Yeah, if I get the chance, I’ll play it, but I’ll probably never buy it.

Other than that my only complaint is that SSFIV is kinda boring compared to KOF XIII with friends honestly.

Scratch that, it’s WAY boring compared to KOF.

:wtf: There is no 15 page rant. And, what exactly does my childhood have to do with me not liking KOFMI?? Tell me!
If you were trying to be funny, you failed. Miserably.

if a game has a block button as opposed to a direction, I usually don’t like it

I didn’t notice that you’d mentioned it, or at least didn’t remember, it must’ve been in my memory somewhere though, I as trying to choose a relatively obscure game at random.

Change all references to Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage

EDIT: tbh Id play the hell out of MvC3 if it was drawn sprites

SF4 and ESPECIALLY SFxT… SF4 is better than Marvel 3 as a game but it definitely is boring as all get out. Tempo reminds me of SF2 World Warrior… Ugh… Boring

SFxT because of Capcom’s greedy ass. Hiding 12 characters in a game is fucking awful. Probably gonna sell them for 5 a pop or maybe 3 a pop. Either way, Im spending $36-$60 EXTRA for a complete game, which would probably have another sequel later? I almost didn’t buy Ultimate because they tried to whore out my money in less than a year. And to top it all off, we got DLC gems… Oh, and the game is boring as fuck and its obvious that this game is incomplete as fuck. Weird combo system, half the characters don’t have their moves (ala Paul), infinites, etc. Shit, Im a marvel 3 player myself and I know that game was a walking disaster in terms of balance and completeness, but FUCK SFxT is just as bad… Im sorry if you like this game, but maaaaaaan… alot of things wrong with the game…

KOF 2001 and 2003, it was the final sign of the death of the arcades to me.

Soul Calibur V. I just feel that it strayed a bit too far from the Soul Calibur formula that I remember. Soul Calibur V seems to focus more on combos than in previous versions, and I don’t feel that that’s what Soul Calibur is about. I always felt that it was about mind-games, tricking your opponent, mixing them up. Not smacking them with a 16+ hit combo for landing one move.

I also am not a huge fan of how they handled the meter system. Specifically, the super moves. I’m all for new mechanics in a fighting game, but I don’t feel that super moves belong in Soul Calibur. I just feel that is promotes mashing more, and I liked Soul Calibur for the fact that I didn’t have to worry about being hit with one move that took out half my just because my opponent was mashing out a super move. I like the overall concept of meter, as it can help to balance certain characters as well as add some more strategy to a fight, but…I just don’t feel super moves belong in Soul Calibur. It doesn’t help that the full animations for the super moves get real stale after seeing them for the 5th time…

I have a bit of a dislike for MvC3 as well. Well…more of a love/hate relationship, really. I enjoy playing it with friends, we have a lot of fun with it…but…there’s just something about it. I think it’s because I find that you hit your opponent once, you put them in a combo that nearly (or does) kill their character. Then you hit them again…and put them in the same exact combo. It just sometimes gets really stale. I guess it doesn’t help that I play Zero and I find that I"m constantly zipping around the stage trying to mix-up my opponent and get in one hit so I can go into the same BnB for the 8th time…

But then again…managing to hit your opponent with Phoenix Wright’s lv 3 never gets old.

I hate all fighting games because throws are cheap

… Just shut up.

Mvc3. The pacing is horrible. The way they changed the assist system from Mvc2 was horrible and removed a lot of depth. The move sets are shallow and one dimensional as heck, a lot of characters play styles tend to blend together with either brain dead rush down or brain dead zoning. And there’s X-Factor. Quite frankly, I’d tolerate X-Factor in a better game. But in Mvc3, it’s just the shit icing on the shit cake.

No.

SF4 series for me. The pacing is just way too slow for my taste. The effectiveness of Guile lameness doesn’t help that any. At least Marvel/TvC didn’t have that issue.

One criticism I don’t get about Marvel is that people say you see the same combo over and over again. One, that’s not ENTIRELY true, people style all the time when they can, and two, aren’t other games the same way? Just with shorter combos? Frankly, I’d take the fast pace of Marvel over SF4’s quicker combos, even with herpderp X-Factor.

On that note, TvC. WHY COULDN’T YOU HAVE BEEN ON SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE WII? YOU WERE SO SOLID BUT NONE OF MY FRIENDS PLAY YOU.

(also, inb4 everyone flames the person who prefers Mahvel to SF)

On this note…

Any fighting game that isn’t drawn sprites. I love sprite artwork.

Play Killer Instinct

Problem solved!
