good games guys, it was a fun tourney.
Oh, and good job to Mark on all his victories, and pikcing up Blanka on the fly.
lol random blanka ftw!
…almost
i friggin played cvs better than i did marvel. what is going on when i cant dash whatsoever. out of towners were more used to the sticks than i was =[
tourney was fun. still got things to work on. im feeling good about my new team though. they seem very promising.
Wait, so you guys waited a stupidly long time and then they didn’t even show at all? Boy, that makes it even more awesome.
I also drove a long distance, coming from Elk Grove which is past Sac. I understand your frustrations, as I have some myself. I know for a fact, that my frustrations, and concern about the overall running of the tournament (which I am a part of; and justly at fault as well) caused me to perform badly. I got 2 matches as well as far as marvel is concerned, and just lucked a win in cvs2, albeit with all my matches being best of 1. I did not have say over when the tourny should have started, but, I felt that Tyler was trying to do what was in the best interest of the whole, and the local tourny scene in general. This is the whole reason why I wanted to have signups on here prior to the tourney; to try to make it run smoothly, and quickly.
For future tournaments…
- signups will be made prior to the tournament on here (the forums)
- you will be able to signup in person on the day of the tournament, but signups will end exactly at 2:30. Not anytime later.
- Even if you have signed up on the forums prior to the tourny, and you show up at 2:31, you will not be allowed on the brackets. The brackets will be made exactly at 2:30. That is final.
I really hate to see anyone be made out as the bad guy, especially when no one else has made the initiative to try to constantly host these types of events. There is no argument here… I see both sides.
Good points.
Just wanted to add that the tournament software used was great. Tourney ran incredibly smooth and easy once it finally got started. I definately want to see this software used in the future.
I am typing all of this on my cellphone, and do not have access to the brackets right now. Will later tonight/ early 2morrow morning, which, at that time I will make the proper adjustments to the brackets to reflect the correct standings as they were, based on who really entered.
Thanks for taking all the things we’ve said into account. I want to apologize if you or Tyram thought I was attacking you or bad mouthing you. That was not my intention. I just saw some things that I thought could use some improvement.
PS. I’d still like the possiblity of 2 out of 3 for Loser’s, if the tourney is small. I think we only went like 2 hours for the whole of CVS, and it would have been nice to be in more and see more matches.
(more random thoughts ahead)
well… It usually is two out of three for both winners and losers. Yesterday was just kind of a disaster in a way, though things still turn out alright… though I’m kind of peeved like you are at getting only two tourney matches.
Kinda overrecated regarding the time, if the manager gave permission for us to stay after closing times, I’m pretty sure there would have been enough time, since the tourney ended at like 7:10. Probably would have been maybe an hour and a half more wortth of game time if all the matches were 2/3.
And also things did go a lot smoother… This is my first time participating but I’m usually used to seeing Ram or somebody else running around with the brackets trying to figure things out.
I think another good idea would be to ask permission to post up signup info at tilt a week beforehand, for those that arent registered/don’t post on SRK.
A hard cutoff at 2:30’s fine with me. More draconian than I would have expected (or likely implemented myself), but it’s far better than what we had yesterday.
Mark’s gotten a lot better at MvC2.
I may start using Spiral/Cable/Sentinel and Sentinel/Cable/Cyclops in tournaments. Not that I’m going to go away from BH altogether, but if my Cable and Spiral are in practice those teams are too good to leave on the shelf.
aww darn i was one place away from getting some money back  . oh well. good games though. i’ve now realized i gotta switch my team up a little. vega isnt cutting it for me :arazz:. gotta find me a better R2. i had fun at the casuals though, Zues’s Beard(Raiden/Zangief/Chang) got loose for a couple of games .
lol, yeah Vega isn’t great as an anchor. I’m gonna have to find a new team member too, Guile just isn’t pulling his weight in the User spot. I love that lvl2 cancel, but I can’t maximize his normals enough to balance it out.
Love the beard team, played against some really good Gief’s in my earlier days so I know the keep away/poke game.
Hmm, GG’s to everyone that I played. I was having some insane trouble making my fingers hit two buttons at the same time. -.-
where’s the 3s result??? wth??
3s didn’t happen. There was the min. of 8 people, but half of those 8 people [me/jimmy/mike/lyle] knew each other, so there’d be no point in holding the tourney. That’s why I entered Marvel instead. ^_____^
yea, me and ahrmon were givin him a few tips at his house before the tourney and even those got him quite a bit better in a short amount of time.
i seriously managed to dash about 5 out of 20 attempts… probably one of the worse days i’ve had with execution. i dont even think i rom’d all day.
wtf Rom won MvC2?
the entry turn out wasn’t too impressive.
