Kelly Diaz-------------KiLLaKeLLy------------831 Salinas

Just for marvel, I will be late though, like wont be there till at least a little after 4. Can someone let me know if that is going to be a big problem. I have prior commitments that wont be done till at least 2pm. How many marvel heads are going to be there??? would suck to go up there and not have enough peeps. Peace

theres usually plenty of marvel enterances. damn good competition actually.

Running all the games through this software dosen’t seem like a good idea. Running 1 maybe 2 games works though. think about it, theres 1 laptop, and 3-5 games running. I gots some purp for the tourney btw.

good luck to all in the tourneys, i’ll be in socal, but thinking about cvs so maybe i’ll stop by ff

yo come over to my house pre tourney.

we will be doing the usual pre-tourney activities you are used to aaron :bgrin:

when will marvel start,I know it starts late and hermann doens’t get off work till 4

It will running both on the laptop, and on paper. I will use the software to seed the brackets and store the information, but use the papers as the running brackets, and update the laptop as time progresses, and as time permits.

The session begins. Call me if you want in.

damn session started at 7:00? I can’t even make it to farfield until 1:00 or so. i’ll see you guys at the tournament.

Damn, i just lost my ride, and i don’t think I’m going to make it now. I could take bart bus over there, but i really don’t feel like it because I’ve got a little cold. i’ll see you guys at the next one or something.

If anyone swings by concord and could give me a ride cool. I’ll mad fade on gas.

best tournament ever. exploding car on highway > fairfield.

Okay, this post may be at risk to put me in Grumpy Old (Stilt)Man territory, but I think it has to be said. :annoy:

If the tournament announcement says signups cut off at 2:30, and you can’t be there until 4 at the very optimistically miraculously short drive earliest? Stay the f*** home. Don’t make the rest of us wait around for you and then inevitably something goes on like you get disorganized some more (or a car explodes on the freeway) and it drags out until 5.

If I’m starting a pre-tournament casual game almost an hour after the cutoff time, I fully expect that I’m going to get kicked off the machine to set it up for the tournament some time before I ring up 20 wins in a row.

It is not cool to show up around two hours late.

Yes, I know you’re coming from Sacramento or San Jose or whatever. I’m coming from Marin County, it’s not a quick run around the corner for me either.

Yes, I know there’s accidents on the freeway. There was an accident on the freeway from the direction I came from too. I was there at freaking 1:45 anyway.

I know it’s probably a little bit of a stretch to expect something like consideration from people on this forum, but goddammit, sometimes people have other things they could be doing rather than waiting for three hours or thereabouts for a tournament to get started because some fraktards show up that late.

Tyram, I know you’re trying to make everyone happy, but there comes a point when it’s freaking time to just cut that crap off and say, “I’m sorry, you were over two hours late, you’re out of the tournament.” If the cutoff time says 2:30, the tournament should be starting by about 3:30 at the latest. If the cutoff time is REALLY going to be at 4, then put that in the forums and I’ll get there for 4 instead of for 2:30. And if the cutoff time is announced at 4 and somebody gets there at 6 figuring it’s no big deal? Guess what, I’d be just as ticked as I am right now if you let that slide too.

As for those of you who were that late? Don’t put Tyram in the position of dealing with a grumpy old man like me after I’ve run up three moderate to long win streaks that all began after the time the signups were supposed to cut off only to find that he’s still holding it up because somebody’s still not there. It is not cool to him, and it’s not cool to anybody else who was there waiting for you numbskulls to show up. If you can’t be there anywhere near on time, don’t come. Don’t expect us all to wait around for you. I know for a fact I was not the only person irked that it was taking so long. I’m just the one that finally walked out when my patience ran out.

What is my suggestion for you, Tyram, for the next time? If the post announcing it says 2:30, then you start drawing up brackets at 2:45 and aim to run it by 3:30. Yes, I know tournaments usually run a little late, but there’s a difference between being a little late and stupidly late. If someone gets there later than you start to draw up the brackets, they go straight into the losers’ bracket. If they’re not there by the end of the first round, they’re out. Yes, there will be some people who will be irritated that they get cut out that way. You know what? Screw ‘em. It’s not like it’s a great mystery as to when they were supposed to be there, and if they can’t manage something in an hour or so range of that, too damn bad. If they did this at a job, they’d be fired. If they did this at a social gathering where people are waiting for them to eat, they’d be bitched out and probably never invited back. And if they did this at a tournament I was running, yes, they’d be out. Yes, I have run tournaments and had to put people in the losers’ bracket before myself. They know the deadlines, they know what the traffic is like between wherever they’re coming from and the tournament site, and there are no great mysteries as to what can go wrong in getting there. There are not a whole lot of excuses I personally am prepared to accept for why somebody can’t get to a tournament within two hours of the announced cutoff time for signups, and the excuses I would accept involve them being in a full body cast and unable to play in the first place.

This is the first time in my life I’ve ever walked out on a tournament. I don’t like that I did it, and I’m pissed as all hell. But if you’re going to organize a tournament… well, ORGANIZE it. That means making a judgment call, and it means that sometimes you can’t be everybody’s friend. For the two or three guys that are two hours late, there’s twenty or thirty more where they came from who are having to wait around. Yes, a little waiting is expected to some degree. Two and a half hours (assuming you actually did in fact get it under way by 5) is too freaking long.

Quick results post from Tilt… Explaination will come later.

If Tinh didn’t show up, how did I get placed two spots under?

Not saying I particularly did well (I did terrible) but still, wtf :frowning:

either way, still had fun, now I just need to practice moar >(

So basically, we were waiting for a few people to show up in order to try to maximize the amount of entries. We would have ran on time, but, we were getting phone phone confirmation that these people were in the relative area to the tournament. Even at the 1:30 past point, they claimed to be in the area, which was the cause for the 2nd postponement. I helped to run the tournament, although I was more there helping on the bracket and seeding part of it, not the actual start time part of it. We finally asked the late people to tell us which brackets they would like to be in, and we would try to run their matches later. They did not end up showing, so many people got byes because of it. This is also the reason you may see people named that didn’t actually play.

fuck yea, i beat tinh! B)

truth.

time to spend hundreds of hours making sure I don’t fuck up my execution… Made WAYYY too many mistakes today… random supers and blocked combos ftw.

also, TEAM BEARD, FUCK YEAH

Impulsze & Tyram:

You guys really should remove all the no shows from the results. That fact that I tied with someone who didn’t show, actually makes me pretty made. And I’m already mad at how things turned out.

I obviously didn’t do very well either, but next time anounce how the Winner’s and Loser’s brackets will be run. We didn’t have very many people, and we could have seriously gone with best 2 of 3 for Loser’s and done like 3 of 5 for the Finals.

Anyway, I’m just ranting cause I drove all the way out from Marin, like Stiltman, and only got to play 2 tourney games. At least if my second lose had been 2 out of 3 I wouldn’t feel as bad.
