I believe the brothers can play better than any japanese, on equal grounds, and the last Evo was kind of a hint towards it.
However, SBO feels a lot like a trap. I mean, you’re obliged to play on japanese controls and, as DxP said before, japanese AE is a DIFFERENT GAME. I mean, when Daugo came to play AE last year he could practice using the console version, but the brothers have no way of practicing the japanese version for SBO.
IMO, they should focus on Evo, beat every japanese that comes in, and get the f*ck out of SBO. Evo will be the world tournament, with more money and best players, and SBO will be a cool, elitist japanese tourney(only one controller style and a game that only the japanese can practice in)
How is SBO like a trap? Evo is pretty much the same situation for japanese people who come over to play. They are playing in as different of an environment as any American player in Japan. Having a spot for SBO is an opportunity given to the US, so I dont think its right to have the attitude like “gtfo of SBO”. Evo world is not a “world tournament”. A lot of players from other countries do not come to Evo just as only a select amount of teams outside of Japan play in SBO (granted that Evo is open to all not like SBO). Evo is an awesome event but we shouldn’t be excluded from equally large events such as SBO. I dont believe that “I dont like the controller style” is the best excuse to not enter. So while you may not want to enter SBO, i think most people would like the experience to play in Japan.
Don’t worry my friend, the only thing that matters is winning. We’ll be just fine I’m excited and honored to proudly represent the USA at Evolution & SBO. Hope to see all you guys at Evo.
