Hey guys, this year is going to be huge, and I want us to be able to represent every community that we can. However, I can’t do it alone…
I’m looking for voluntary tournament organizers to help run all of the games listed below. I’d like to aim for an event for each game about once every two weeks, and I’d like us to be able to cooperate on when each game should be held.
Now, we can’t have each individual game on a different day, it’s just not feasible, so I’m listing games in groups that would work well together.
Street Fighter:
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition
Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Airdashers:
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift
Arcana Heart 3
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
Melty Blood Actress Again
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom -> Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Vampire Savior
SNK:
King of Fighters XIII
King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
3D Planar:
Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion
Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown (Coming Soon!)
American: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Mortal Kombat 9
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3: HD Kollection
Italicized means that we’ve already got a representative for that game.
If you’re interested in running one or two of these games, PM me and we’ll discuss it.
If there’s a game that’s not in there, but you’d love to run it alongside the other games listed (i.e. if you want to bring back SFA), then PM me too, and we’ll see what we can work out.
We’ve already got a thing going for the airdashers, but I figured I’d list it anyways. We’re sort of on a holiday break, and we’ll be starting back up on the 23rd of January (Just in time for AH3).
MvC3 isn’t 100% penciled in yet, but the TvC guys are willing to just switch it over. We do need to work out something to help bring in the players coming from MvC2, though.
I had a question. How do you plan on doing your console setup for mvc3 but charge like 1$ or something. Im working with the tilt here in houston and they said they will get mvc3 but are looking for console setups that will last long. They currently have super running on a xbox and its almost about to die. I told them that ffa has console setups but didnt know how you actually did it?
We do rent out the xboxes at a half-hourly rate, and we hard wired Xbox controllers into arcade cabinets in order for it to get an arcade feel. We have gone through a ton of dead xboxes tbh, but we’ve sort of learned how to fix and replace most of the problems by now. When MvC3 and MK9 come out, we’ll do the same thing.
Can you pm me your contact info so I can pass this along to tilt corporate. I want to get mvc3 were we are at but they are having major issues with the setup they have now for ssf4. They have it on time were you pay 1$ for 7 mins. That wont work for mvc3. They said they dont know how to put it to were you pay 1$ everytime so I suggested they just get a brand new console setup and call it a day.
First I’m very happy you’re being so proactive towards helping out the fighting game community, so I wanna thank you for that.
Second I’m I am also especially happy that your location just got KoF XIII, we’ve been hoping more arcades pick it up so we can help build the scene for it but with A.I being one of the two only cabinet locations for soo long in the whole country it’s been very difficult. I believe doing some type of tournament in the near future would be awesome. Also apparently its capable to stream from your location which was not at an option at A.I. due to the weak internet connection, and a stream would be huge for our community. We’ve had very little opportunity to showcase our players, and our game and would love for the oppurtunity, thank you.
I’d really like to see the scene take off. I’d been asking for KoFXIII for a long time, but I never thought we’d get it because we were saving up for SSF4:AE. Then one day I was at home, and I got a call from one of the guys who works there asking, “Hey, what’s the button layout for KoFXIII? We can’t figure it out.” You should have seen my face, lol; it was such a happy surprise.
I’ve always liked KoF, but I’ve never seriously gotten into it. The most I’ve done for SNK is get kind of serious in SamSho2 and Garou: MotW, but I really want to get into KoFXIII.
We can do live streams for KoFXIII, but we don’t have the equipment (also our internet has been on the fritz lately because of the rain, but the phone company is trying to fix our block). So, if we ever run tournaments and someone wants to bring camera equipment or something, that would be greatly appreciated.
Some people have asked me how I feel about AI closing down as a worker from FFA. Honestly, it sucks, it sucks hardcore. AI was a very important arcade for the whole community. Even if we are/were in some sort of competition with each other, it hurts the entire arcade scene. I used to go to AI every now and then to play games that FFA didn’t have, but I won’t be able to do that anymore. Also, think of this: if a hardcore arcade as successful as AI is closing down, what kind of shape do you think other arcades are in? I don’t want all that’s left to be Dave & Busters or GameWorks…
A lot of stuff is pretty settled (thought not set in stone).
I’m really looking for an interested reliable person for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. This one is still up for grabs, and I thought it would be the one that most people would be jumping to host.
Also, we’re seeing about some big potential prizes for these series of tournaments. More to come when I get it confirmed.
Yo I am down to help as many communities get exposure via stream or whatever. The MK9 and MVC3 communities got my support. I will try to make a visit there this weekend.
how do you guys plan to get VF5; Final Showdown, I heard its damn near impossible coz SEGA only rents the cabs out even in Japan so no arcade actually owns one.
