Fei Long Theory Fighter/General Discussion

Imo, they are pretty bad. Especially cr.lk not being chainable, because basically we’ll have no real way to hitconfirm, since cr.lp has two miles of pushback. If they keep that nerf, at least halve the pushback on cr.lp, or expand the hitbox on st.jab downward so we can at least hit confirm into something. I just don’t get why they did it

I played around with the USF4 mod a bit

Random notes
-Gen can punish whiffed tenshin with CH cr.hp(crane) super(mantis) ultra 1(mantis) for 795 damage. Ouch.
-cl.st.mp cr.lp xx hk flame kick u1(3 hits now yay) does 381 damage. Tested on Gouken. Got the idea from this www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBU-mqT1F_c;t=2m23s
Does anyone know more situations/characters you can combo flame kick to ultra 1 on?
-crlk stlk comes out if you hold down and chain lk lk. Is that supposed to happen? or is it a problem with the mod?

It’s probably a glitch. Maybe the fact that cr.lk is not being chainable into another cr.lk causes the “down” button to be ignored.
I heard you can “solve” this by pressing cr.lk + cr.lp together instead of just cr.lk. This way cr.lk automatically chains into cr.lp. Still pretty useless though.

Since you have the possibility to test it, how bad would you say his nerfs are? Any thoughts?

Its not a glitch, its just he didnt remove the chain property properly

Can’t really say because I haven’t played any actual matches. My computer can barely run the game and trying to do stuff in training mode is already a headache.

Advised that Fei is a good partner for Guy, I am taking JKD lessons. Yes, I have the Tao and am serious about learning Fei. I used him a lot in Super & Super Turbo, but obviously he is different in the IV series.
I’m digesting the guide thread and match-ups as well as combos, so I’ll mostly be lurking and absorbing information, but any constructive criticism and/or advice is most welcome.
Looking forward to sparring with the competitive “Little Dragons”.

The recent change log:

Fei Long

Crouching light kick: Starts up slower (3F->4F)
Crouching light kick: Ability to rapid fire the attack has been removed
Crouching middle punch: Damage increase (55->65)
Light Rekka: Distance traveled on first punch reduced
Light/Medium/Heavy Rekka: Hit advantage on second hit reduced (reduced by 2F)
Shienkyaku: Removed accidental input command (464+K)
Light/Medium/Heavy Tenshin: Does one point of damage
EX Tenshin: Starts up faster (12F->10F)
Rekkashin Geki: 3rd hit of the non animation version knocks the opponent higher so the final hit connects in combos against airborne opponents
Light/Medium/Heavy Shienkyaku: More disadvantageous when dashing forward after a focus attack cancel (-5F)

Is it me or does this just say put Fei in a coffin? Seriously, capcom is fucking everything up. More disadvantageous after a dp fadc again? Nerfed rekkas by two counts, cannot chain his cr lk, basically he lost the essentials to pressuring IMO and I hate it. Fei doesn’t win shit anymore anyways why are they just continuously nerfing him slowly!? This is just too much for me… I’ve dealt with the changes over the last few iterations and w.e it’s fine, hes boring and linear… but this? I can’t imagine what more we can do to play him? Fuudo, Mago and high level fei players can’t even hit cr.lk x2~3 > jab rekka consistently, why is this change even necessary? Can someone reach out to the location testers and get them to have a say in this or what?

-5 on FADC is a universal change though, not only on Fei. I like this change a lot actually.
But yeah, they went completely ham on nerfing an already balanced character. Seriously, wtf capcom

Wait you guys are missing that massive buff he got though, cr.mp does 10 more dmg lol. This is what happens when you have a biased person telling community they are balancing a character they don’t like. I remember several times hearing ComboFiend not liking Fei but he does his damnest to try to make the characters sounds good when they are streaming Ultra footage even if the have shitted on a character.

It’s a significant buff for my playstyle. 2x cr.MP combo for 130 damage now. That does a lot of damage for a 4F startup poke with frame advantage
