Fei Long Theory Fighter/General Discussion

damn Ray didnt know u were going too, make Canada and Fei Long users proud!

also u should set up a 5-5 mm, (team up with Henri, Js and Ehai and whoever as a fifth)
u guys are sure to ravage peeps

Because some attacks hit sooner while your standing then when your crouching. However this is not always the case because for virtually every character, when your crouch blocking your hitbox expands so you can get hit sooner. Some examples for the former is Adon’s Jaguar Kick, Sagats Tiger knee and Juris Divekick aimed high tho that shit is never safe.

for those interested starnab is at gaurdcrush tourney in nyc.

SRK front page for the link

I missed most of Starnab’s fights except for his match against Arturo in the finals. Is there a link to an archive?

I recorded all the fights I will post on YouTube. If you was looking at the live stream and seen a guy with a pink shirt and tie, that was me. Starnab is a cool person and he Fei is serious! He won’t go crazy on offense. He picks his spots and he has amazing reaction and baits.

you didnt need to record them, team spooky puts all there streamed fights on there youtube channel, just search for akumahokoru

starnab has gotten a lot better. a lot improved from when i saw his vids from that euro tourney 2 months back.

his play was extremely solid at guardcrush. he always anti airs really well, but i saw him hit the full crouching bnb with like 90% accuracy. and his rekka 1 hit confirms were almost 100% spot on too. almost never randomly flame kicked out of pressure without meter.really solid on offense and defense. im impressed with the ammount of improvement he made in such a short time, this far into playing the character.

at this point, playing the same character for almost 2 years, its a lot harder to really notice when you make gains as a player, but i have to give the guy credit. seasons beatings should be really interesting, and i’ll be rooting for him when he’s not playing my guys from michigan

Shout out to nosone for showing me the Tenshin setups in use.

Upped my game considerably.

NP, working on several more actually. The only problem is that some of the ones I’ve been fiddling with require considerable execution-skills. We’re talking things like:

**cr.LK> st.LP> cr.LP xx FADC forward> st.LP xx Tenshin (substitute LP+LK grab)

j.HK> cl.HK xx Focus lv2 (blocked)> st.LP xx Tenshin
[corner only, substitute cl.MP for a TIGHT focus frame trap that can catch a 3-frame jab if timed well]
**

Is it worth it to go for these? I mean that’s up to you, but anytime you can set your opponent up for a Tenshin, you’re looking at an additional 260 damage using cl.HP xx HK Flame Kick. That’s pretty big IMO. And if you look at the damage for the second trap I listed, the total from a hit-confirmed j.HK> cl.HK would be 480 (total 2 bars) or 520 (total 3 bars with EX FK). Compared to say, 400 dmg from j.HK cl.HP xx EX Flame Kick, you’re only spending one or two more bars in that punishment situation for another 80-120 damage.

A word to the wise about Tenshin usage as well: against any character without a 3-frame jab, you may as well go for st.LP xx Tenshin, non EX. If you get your spacing down, its tight enough to “counter-hit” anything the opponent can throw as far as normals go.

whats the general feeling about fei’s super for you guys now?

i mean, its a good punnish tool/sweep deterent, but what about comboing into it?

mago wont even use it unless its a kill shot on the third round. ive seen him land tenshin with super stocked, and opt for FADC combos instead

i can regularly combo into it, but im wondering, is it smart to do if it isnt going to kill?

I rarely use Super, except in certain punish situations where I have a clear shot, but I’m too far for cl.HP xx Flame Kick stuff. If I’m at a severe life disadvantage (i.e. about to die while my opponent is sitting on a comfortable lead) I’ll save the meter for the next round if there is one, maybe burning one or two stocks on some combos/resets.

I think at the start of the round, Super is a waste since there’s no guarantee of victory. When both players are at half health though, it becomes a serious consideration. Land the Super and you’ll only have to deal with another 130 life to go… That’s a throw or some linked normals.

good point about what point in the match it is. life bars should play a major role in meter usage

i know i really like to use it in certain matchups, like chun, where i can empty cancell cr.mk into it. i just toss out cr.mk from outside its normal hitting range, and if i happen to counter poke a RH or whatever, i land big damage into super. it looks like super high level shit when you land it

i dont think ive seen another fei player use that one yet

I use it from meaty tenshin. Feels good.

I still look to use super when I have a full bar unless I’m losing badly. A stocked full bar doesn’t give you more bar. I might use an EX to get in and rebuild that box. In general if I have a full stocked super bar, I’ll use 1 ex to get in if I’m having trouble, otherwise I’d use a super if the opponents lifebar warrants it (i.e. not just a small B’n’B combo from death).

I’ll also use it in those rare cases when I dizzy an opponent. Dizzy > tenshin (for damage reset) > super

No damage reset–scaling keeps going.

Another thing I would to add to this, I asked “why don?t you go to cl.hp more after the cw like Mago”? He replies “I have been working on it and the link has a very strict timing and Mago is just amazing at pulling it off all the time. I am really trying to add it to my game overall”

Every player I spoke to in there that will be attending Seasons beatings hates that it will be played on the PS3. They weren?t surprised when I told them “Seth confirmed that the PS3 version is 2 frames slower” I asked so why is it that the tournaments are played on PS3’s? Rico told me “I think it has to do with sponsors”.

Isn’t switching controllers easier on ps3?

Considering theres a good amount of PlayStation pad players. It would really suck if I couldn’t use that.

haha mago showing gekirinken+focus dash>viper mixups.

Mago just beat Uryo 10 - 2. This guy is on another level. In any other top players hands Fei looks like a decent upper mid tier character. Mago makes him look top 5. I am sure this is going to achieve what Sako did for cammy, and that is get fei some nerfs. Especially if Mago wins Godsgarden.
