Fei Long Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

I think I read 0 but I’m not positive.

its most likely 0, if not +1 but I highly doubt that. There’s a reason why its getting nerfed to -1…

Yo, I’m new to Fei, straight off from playing Vega since Super release, and I have extremely little experience with dragon punch reversals and such

I’m wondering, is there a way I can practice how to auto-correct my FKs to hit obvious cross ups?

I think I had more questions but I forgot, lol

You can either input the motion correctly and press kick as the opponent has jumped over, or use the cross cut/ wiggle DP method the same as shoto’s. You wiggle the stick on the diagonals of the gate and press your button.

(Day 7 John Choi section)

You can also do a slow chicken wing motion with Fei Long, you’ll either Auto correct the DP or escape if you use EX.

So essentially what I’m doing is just if they’re crossing up from the right side, I’ll reverse the FK motion from DB to DF and wait for them to cross me up, then hit kick?

that’s what I’m doing anyways, and tenshin comes out a lot instead of FK

I’m also experimenting with cl.HP and it’s a lot easier, although it trades sometimes and doesn’t get you a KD. Any reason I shouldn’t just do that instead besides what I stated?

Also experimenting with tatsu crossups, and I can’t seem to hit them with FK or cl.HP, so I’m guessing you just have to block those?

If I’m being honest, I’m not a fan of Auto correct Dp’s with Fei personally (not like say someone like Sagat) because of the results if I miss. I either quick stand dash under if I have time or just block if I’m not sure. Cross up tatsu is best blocked unless you have Ultra 2 obviously. Toying around with say Akuma’s cross up tatsu will get you killed…fast!

Hit training and see what method works best for you, sometime’s it’s just easier to burn a bar and escape if your having trouble with cross ups.

Alright, thanks

In the option select thread, it lists one performed in the corner with c.LK -> c.LK+HK. Could someone explain this to me and why I’d use it?

Also, when someone mentions a “delayed tech”, exactly what do they mean?

The option select is for corner it may work on some characters mid screen need to test it out basically what it does if someone trys to backdash on their wake up and you use the option select they will get sweeped if they dont backdash you can carry on with your blockstring/ combo.

How many ways can I setup reg. and ex. command grab off cancels and blocked stuff?

all depends on you. once you learn the distance you can go with a block string like cr.lk>cr.lk>st.lp>ex tenshin. dont mash the lights but delay it and walk forward as you do the block string. One I normally do is when I have the player cornered I throw a hk.cw its even on block if I am able to get my cr.lk off and the player blocks it I will go to st.lp>ex.tenshin. Another you can do after a knock down is a jumpin MP but a deep MP then st.lp ex or a jumpin HP but a deep one as it will give good block stun then go into a ex.tenshin.

So again its all up to you. Once you learn the max range of the ex version you can really mix it up with the tenshin

I’m also a fan of just meaty EX tenshin. It’s quick and nasty!

I wouldn’t waste a bar for a meaty, but that’s me :stuck_out_tongue:

nice meeting you at TNT last night Rivals! come out to more tourneys!

Well it works for me! corner pressure - people stop pressing buttons and bam! Either that or go straight from a j.mp into it. Doesn’t work against mashers obviously.

You too  I played awfully thanks to nerves and playing against two chars I don’t have much experience with (never played online until about 2 months ago) but yeah I’m going to try to get out to more. I’ll be at streetwise tomorrow if you feel like venturing up to Fremont, but last time it was a small showing of maybe 10 people.

When should I start inputting after a tenshin ? If I don’t mash out an attack I find that it doesn’t connect like all the time .

aww i won’t be able to make it up there, but i’ll be at southtown arcade this sunday!

Easiest way if your having trouble is when his feet touch the ground, Triple plink the punches into special. You’ll at worst case scenario get jab xx special, close Mp combo’s and obviously Hp is the one you want for big damage. Assuming you know how to plink. (basically run your fingers across all 3 punches quickly)

Speaking of Tenshin, I notice that Mago loves to do a meaty dashup Tenshin on his opponent’s wakeup. Works extremely well.
