That’s a character specific combo and only works if you use j.MP to get in really tight. The j.MP basically has to hit on the top of the opponent’s head.
Is there a list of characters it works on posted somewhere?
According to NevilleBamshew’s findings in the extremely useful Labwork thread, that combo works on:
Ryu
Ken
Abel
Adon
Sakura
Seth
Vega
El Fuerte
Been a long time since I’ve posted. Looking to get back into SF4 and contribute to this section again.
One question: When is the suit and tie outfit out for XBL DLC?!
Tomorrow!
Does this mean 12am today.
Between 5 and 7pm.
it all depends where you are located in the world, but est things are usually released between 10am-12pm…
*EDIT: Aparently they were available starting at 6am.
Yay they’re out here :)
how you guys feelin about the japs considering fei s-tier?
Well a lot of responses have been made in the AE tier list reboot thread in the main forum from other Fei mains, but mine response summised would be to point out that he’s not top tier OP as I’m guessing a lot of people might jump to that conclusion whilst riding the acid fueled wave of euphoria they get everytime they say something is OP or ‘borken’. Anyway, here’s one of my better posts on it:
Yeah, Fei’s damage is through pressure and mixups, because his huge damage combos aren’t really applicable when your opponents don’t give you opportunity to punish them. Because his dynamics as a character are like that, he doesn’t have huge comeback potential against turtley playstyles who don’t offer much opportunity to get in.
People being overly offensive on Fei are opening themselves to his comeback potential through his setups and mixups, it’s the people who turtle or play defensively and keep Fei out of their face with walk speed (generally backwards movement mind) and good use of normals to stuff Rekka attempts, so 60-80% of the time they only deal with Fei’s Rekka pressure and single pokes, which can really whittle down Fei. All of Fei’s hardest matchups are known to get harder when the opponent plays defensively. I’ve seen it argued that Dictator-Fei is 4-6, but if he plays it defensively it can easily be 6-4 Dict. Defensive Rog’s are hell, but he can pretty much play how he likes whilst Fei has to stick to the script regardless in the MU. Same goes for a lot of characters. I know it sounds odd, because you’d think it’d be better to prevent him from being offensive by being offense your self, but even in the mirror I find it’s better to directly prevent his offense rather than go ahead with my own, because it gets you blown up. Akuma would be one exception, and a lot of his mixup options can cleanly beat Fei’s defensive options and option selects can cover some areas that Fei can escape.
I guess the point I’m making (though I’m still not sure why I’m making it lol) would be that, from everything I’ve seen ranging from my own performance to watching a lot of top level Fei footage, Fei isn’t top tier a la Sagat, his comeback potential isn’t quite as strong as a lot of the cast, his pokes are godlike but his walkspeed is 22nd fastest. So I’m not sure it’s a case of being OP, but that seems to be the feeling everyone is giving me, he’s just now been given better odds in his toughest matchups.
Though I don’t really agree with the all around nerfing that’s been going on. I thought the top tiers in Super were really well balanced, and that adjusting primarily the lower tiers would have been the way to go to bring them up to speed with the better characters. That might be because I’d rather everyone be brought up closer to the top tier instead of Fei getting bashed about by the nerf bat himself and losing some of his tools. If they do choose to nerf him I would prefer it to be in damage alone than change the way he plays. lol I’m scared like bitch because I know it’s coming now, but then again, someone has to be on top.
And another post I made before:
Fei is essentially the same character as he was in Vanilla, not much has changed. He’s received as many nerfs as he has buffs, and that’s not very many changes when put together either. The rest of the cast has been sinking lower whilst he’s just been slowly rising because of that. His matchups are mostly even, and his wins aren’t any easier than any other character’s wins (apart from ones like Seth-Gief etc of course), and nor are his bad matchups any worse than the other character’s bad matchups.
In Super, he’s trumped by charge characters who all sit nicely at the top end of the tiers, which is why you don’t often see Fei winning, because he’s weakest against the top tier; In AE, he’s at the top because because those same characters mostly received nerfs. The matchup dynamics are almost the same, but Fei doesn’t take as much damage from the likes of Guile, and can’t be locked down by brain dead pressure as often against Dictator.
I completely agree fei is very much the same character he was in vanilla with only minor buffs and nerfs. Fei was really just underrated in vanilla. His comeback potential isn’t as good as other top tiers. Even though some of his most annoying match up like boxer, dictator, guile got better because of nerfing there still good characters and still a pain to fight.
but idk seems like at first people underrated him…now he seems a bit overrated
I was watching replays that showed inputs i noticed people were starting fei long combos off cr.LK + cr.LP x2 then decide there combo finisher from there usually ending in rekkas
why is that/this
cr.LP + cr.LK together make a crouch tech option select. So if the opponent tries to throw, you tech it. If the opponent blocks your cr.LK (which is what comes out because cr.LK has more priority over cr.LP), you can go into a block string. If the opponent isn’t blocking low, or you counter hit them etc. you can then carry on and combo.
It’s covering multiple bases at once. Sorry if you already knew what the crouch tech was, I was just making sure
thanks much
if someone focuses from mid screen. what can i do to punish it or react to it?
Mid-screen as in no where near you or just within a poke’s distance? You can try to bulldog through with Rekkas if he’s close enough or wait for him to dash out and chase with HP Rekkas. If he’s out of Rekka range (or if you have to really stretch to reach him, which isn’t a good idea), just jump in and throw.
Well the distance I’m talking about is when they aren’t in poke range. So like when the round starts. That’s about the distance.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G using Tapatalk
Jump> Throw then, or hope that he dashes forward so you can hit him with Rekkas or a normal. CW is no good and doing a max range Rekka is risky, especially if he already started the charge.
so going about my business punishing crouch techs, i found FK>FADC> Ultra 1 to completely whiff periodically, why is this? I know im doing it fast enough. Im thinking spacing idk.
Also, cancelling rekkas from a crouching position, like short> jab> rekkas, how should I correct my timing to nail this consistently?
