Fei Long Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

hmm this was very odd when I did those tests with Rog and everything that was -5 wasn’t punishable. But I just went to training and linked c.mp to super. I’m 100% sure I didn’t cancel it. Just Piano the inputs. Easy on Pad or Stick. I tested somethings that were -5 on block also
http://sfframedata.com/walkthrough/pages/guy.php is the site I decided to use. Their still may be error.
*=Useful to know
*Abel-COD 2nd low=Punishable
Adon-Crouching Fierce-Punishable
*Balrog’s- torpedo,overhead,lvl2 tap, and lvl2 upper are all unpunishable
Blanka-Crouching medium strong-Punishable
*C.Viper-Crouching medium forward-UNPUNISHABLE
*Chun Li-Crouching Rounhouse-Punishable
Cody-Close roundhouse-UNPUNISHABLE BUT lp Criminal Upper -Punishable
*DeeJay-Crouching Forward-Punishable
Dhalsim-DB+HK(Sweep)/crouching Medium strong-UNPUNISHABLE BUT *Dhalsim lp Yoga Flame is Punishable with Super.
*Dudley HP MGP/Ducking Straight-Punishable
*El Fuerte-Far Rounhouse-Punishable
*Fei Long-Crouching Fierce-UNPUNISHABLE
Gen-(Mantis)Crouching Fierce/(Crane)Crouching Forward=UNPUNISHABLE BUT (Crane)Close Fierce =Punishable
Gouken-C.mk =Punishable EX DP=UNPUNISHABLE

So the Super is indeed 5 frames but only some (few) are not punishable and it has to be like I said in another post because the first hit of Super hits on the 2nd frame making it 6 frames to punish. Notice that all attacks that are -5 on block are unable to punish on that specific character while in crouch. Not just that one attack and explains why FK will usually punish it. Well thats my theory anyways. Could be they just recovery 1 frame sooner or something.
I’ll finish testing and edit post later

stmp > super definatly works, try pianoing your punchbuttons wen you do the super, should come out more reliably, or u know cancel it off a crmp lol

Well that’s a definite because st.MP (or at least cl.MP) is +7. st.LP link to Super is what I’ve been having trouble with. Maybe I should go test it again though; it just doesn’t seem reliable if it has to be that fast of an input that you can’t even confirm from it. (Basically a cancel, but it’s not).

st.lp is a very fast attack with very fast recovery lol. Canceling or linking it to hitconfirm is just ridiculous. Unless you can already hitconfirm off a single attack which is quite amazing. Its pointless to try.

Simple question really. How do you guys manage your meter? Would mind some advice from nosone and samuira and the other top fei’s on the board.

I have a real problem using my meter. The problem is I can do all the fruit in the training room, I just can’t implement it in my game plan. I’m too busy using meter on EX CW or EK FK in combo’s.

I tried turning of the grey buttons on the TE (thinking it was the go to button) but it was a disaster since i’m accustomed to it now.

Are you guy’s keeping an eye on the meter and using it on the fly (like me) or do you have (greater/wider) a gameplan - Ie save it for FADC into Ultra or Super.

I’ve asked this before, I’m just at a cross roads where I feel I should take Fei down a more defensive path (as i’ve bottomed out) if I am to improve as I can’t seem to get these essentials (if they are) into my game.

Lol yea I realized that as far as st.LP, but I was also equating it with cr.MP since the frame advantage is the same. Its just a shame that you can’t use cr.MP to hit confirm into it.

If my opponent doesn’t force me to use meter, I won’t. Usually if you can feel out the situation like that, you won’t spend as much in the long-run. Jumping, FADC’ing, and blocking Fireballs are all great alternatives to EX CW since you’ll be able to use the meter you’ve saved for more damage up-close. Only when you’re guaranteed to hit the EX CW should it be an option.

As far as active meter management, I’m only watching the bar when it’s close to filling up an extra stock. Say I have 1 stock and 90% full for another–I’ll allow myself to go for a Flame Kick on my opponent since I know I’ll build the meter to FADC it. OR, I’ll whiff a FK, go for a few extra pokes, whatever. Anything that will get me the second stock sounds like a good idea to me.

Of course, that’s not to play down the need for safety.

For punishes, it’s also OK to go for just HK Flame Kick since you only lose 40 damage from the combo at worst. On the other hand, you’ll build close to one full stock (about 50-70% of it or so) if you don’t EX. That could pay off big time later on. Usually I’ll forego the EX Flame Kick in combos early on in matches when it’s still a toss-up of who would win. When my victory is almost sealed (or when I’m in a pinch to even out the score) I’ll use EX Flame Kick to end it faster. Usually though, EX Flame Kick is my go-to anti-air, so I try not to burn it in combos if I don’t need to.

hey guys , my internet got cut off today and it will be atleast a month before i get it back . so i will be restricted to training mode , any tips or training methods/techniques i can employ to help me continue levelling up ? , or just anything generally that i can do in training mode in regards to fei or ssf4 to keep me sharp and/or help me improve.

hmm i guess you could find out alot of matchup specific details .

I went through one day and activated characters Ultra’s from various distances to see what I could get away with - Ie does Fei longs Ultra 1 go through sonic hurricain from this distance… or on wake up.

It was quite interesting, although you might already know them all. You can try it with specials also. Since our Ultra’s a bit garbage, I tried to find as many situations as I could that I could use it outside Focus.

Nosone - cheers for the meter input, I’m going to try a few things out next time i get to a game.

Does Feilong have a way of punishing vs OS tech throwers?

You have a command grab…,also fk fadc or frame traps.

can fei long do that focus absorb cancelling into ultra thingy that ive seen a few other characters do in videos ?? oh and thanks for the advice highland , i will definitely take that into account .

counter, a naked tenshin will lose to a os tech like 99% of the time. and yes jeenyus we have multiple frametraps to blow up crouch techs, this has been discussed lately in the forums a ton.

Apart from visual and audio cues; look at how you are you recoiling your qcf motion for the 2nd and 3rd rekka. Is there any extra input? Practice from both down-back and standing position. And stay away from drumming random strengths, at least if you are mixing strengths you should be aware of it.

And yup, practice on setting your dummy on random-block.

Good luck.

Edit: had to add this, the best way to be solid on your rekka inputs is play fei on sfII HD remix or ssfII

not a naked one,i ment jab into tenshin, even non ex beats beats beats cr.tech as long as they are not mashing it.(if they are mashing its preety easy to keep pressing cr.mp and get counter hit.A meaty only also works buts its really risky.

Demented rabbit,i assume you are talking about armor cancel and no fei cant because he dosent have a move that gives him armor.

ahh counter , yes i was talking about armor cancelling…i’ve actually seen a video where Guy can armor cancel into his ultra 1 and 2 just by absorbing an attack with his focus attack but apparently this is unique to Guy . Other characters need an armour move to be able to do this so yes you were correct.

Does anyone use st-mk as an anti air? I caught a Ryu with it by mistake and it worked a treat. I’m not sure if it has any benifits over st-fk??

Also with Ibuki’s Kuni’s do they actually hit low and you have to block low? or are they alway’s high? I was getting raped yesterday from a solid Ibuki, I’m talkin dizzy and shit! :looney:

it works as an antiair and it comes out faster then rh so its easier to time. The hitbox is different so if it suits the circumstance then use it. Does less damage and stun

Block in the direction Ibuki is in the air block in a db way as her overhead is garbage slow.

Which attacks do I have to look out before activating ultra 2? I know that I can use it against Akuma’s ex-tatsu, but what I want is just a small list of attack that break through my ultra. Please, if this is already posted in another thread, just ignore this or help me find it, 'cause I already did a little research and found nothing

Thanks in advance!

is there any videos on feilong buffering for his combos because im having the hardest time trying to get a rekka out when does his links. I can link the normals just fine but when I get the rekka part I seem to catch hell from it. Idk if its because his normals are so fast if I should try slowing down(which ive tried but no luck)or speeding up the combo. I dont think the rekka chains from st lp so that couldnt be the problem. need some help here
