Fei Long Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Haha yes walking back and random focus fishing really frustrates me especially when its someone like honda with a move that travels full screen.I get hit by a headbutt, quick rise and dash up to close the distance and get hit by another one lol.

Suprised noone said Chun Li. She’ll keep ya out and wreck your focus.

Thank you, i have two friends who are crossup happy shotos. Til now i was using the flame kick and the U2 to try and counter their cross ups… flame kick was getting stuffed most of the time since their timing is really good but U2 would catch them… however once im all out of ultra meter then they go crossover happy again… thanks for the crouching MK tip, i will try that one.

Are there any other moves anyone can think of that will stuff crossovers?

jump back+fierce or roundhouse. focus the cross up and dash away. if they are coming down directly on top of you and you dont know which way to block, use standing fierce. and calmly blocking

If they go for a crossup while you are still standing, dash underneath them. I forced myself to learn this from when I used to play Bison.

Hmm…forcing oneself to dash. Interesting.

It’s because dashes are so awkward in SSF4… when someone jumps you have to retrain your instincts to do things that don’t feel natural.

wats with that cammy player, one matchup in feis favor and hes top tier and should be nerfed?

the crouching MK tip didnt work too well… he just lands and continues to jab jab away and then mixes up with either a tick throw or another crossover jump. the backward jump HP idea didnt work either, since the shoto’s jumping MK beats it. focus dashing out of there seemed to work for the crossover but he starts mixing up with tick throws which catch me. any other ideas on how to effectively counter ?

Learn better spacing.
Learn to Anti Air.
Learn to Auto Correct FlameKick.

There breaking the golden rule of Don’t Jump so punish them for it.

crouch tech and when he jumps press hk,quite sure that it will auto correct also depending on the spacing you can walk under him and punish during his recovery.if you have meter u can also mash fk and fadc it to be safe lol.

Block the first jab and then mash back dash. You’re invincible on the first frame so you’ll be able to escape even if he delays a jab. After that, keep him in front of you and don’t let him do that again.

Also, it would sincerely help to learn crouch teching.

anti airing is not the problem, i can anti air them consistently when they’re in front of me. but when they jump over me, the flame kick whiffs leaving me open. how do you auto correct flamekick?

by crouch teching do you mean holding DB and tapping LP+LK?

Yup. But with rhythm. Gotta wait for the blockstun from the tick to end before you hit the buttons.

Well charge characters that walk backwards are killing themselves slowly… the closer they get to the corner the better it gets for me.

Hi, my two questions:

  1. What’s Fei’s frame advantage/disadvantage after FK FADC (forward)?

  2. For air to ground I always use j.MP, j.MK or j.HK. I never use j.LK. Is it preferable sometimes? In which situations?

Thanks.

Jumping lk on guiles wake up stuffs Flash kick and leads you into jabs if your deep enough. I think (not at the x-box at the mo) it stuffs blanka’s electricity also but don’t quote me on that.

There’s a few more but can’t remember off the top of my head

Nice, I’ll try. I’m waiting for more answers, thanks for yours btw.

  1. Something close to +4 or +5 on a perfect dash forward. I’ve been able to do this and whiff a standing throw before (since the opponent was in blockstun), so It’s likely more than 3 frames.

  2. j.LK can be used for tick throws on the opponent since the hitstun is so short. Otherwise, it has a longer active hitbox than j.MK, so its tougher to whiff if you’re already in range. In the corner, it’s also helpful for ambiguous cross-ups. A number of times I’ve done this on opponents who are waking up in the corner, and it seems to really fake them out.

Quick question:

Why do most Feis avoid the flame kick FADC ultra juggle? I’m seeing more and more Feis make use of their Flame Kicks, but oftentimes I’ll see them chickenwing when an ultra juggle would’ve killed their opponent. Is it because it’s a bit hard to land all 3 hits/ difficult to time it after seeing you landed it on a chancy FADC? I know it’s not as good as some other characters, but I don’t see why it’s so overlooked.
