Fei Long Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

yo guys quick question, whats the most reliable poke against Ryu’s ground Tatsu that goes over you when crouching. I use to do a cr.HP but today for some reason it was whiffing like a mofo. Outside of Cr.MP what do you guys use.?

I tend to just do c.MP. Not a ton of damage but sets up nicely as they fall, real reliable on hit too. Standing before he hits you/crosses you up, s.HP is great (If they’re doing random tatsus lol)

cr.HP is pretty slow and can force you to miss the punishment if you do it too early or late. Gotta time that shit. cr.MP is like a fly swatter–use that for a more guaranteed blow.

I hope this is a quick question, how do you block ibuki’s dagger shenanigans when u get up? I tried blocking like a crossup i get hit, i block like normal i still get hit. thanks in advance

It can be tough at times but I believe you just block based on wherever the Ibuki’s center axis is. So always block according to where she is on the screen rather than block the kunai itself.

I know this isn’t a concrete answer like, ‘always hold d/b on getup’, but maybe with understanding it you’ll be able to react and not be confused.

Has anyone documented which characters s.lp completely whiffs on while the opponent is in crouch position? e.g. chun li

or does this need to be done?

Hey there folks,
I’ve always been using the pad for a while and decided after watching Inthul beast it up I’ve decided to use Fei once again. I am having trouble linking the c.lk - s.lp - c.lp to rekkas. Ive bee trying it for hours this past week and when i attempt it it always throws a s.LP instead of the rekkas any help? I manage to pull it off 15% of the time. I am using the MadCatz fight pad as the 360 one is terrible. Also i may order a stick because of the deal that is going on right now.
Thanks in advance!

You’re canceling instead of linking. Slow down in input speeds. I have the same problem too especially in intense fights where you’re pumped. Just a question of thumb speed being too fast (which is counter intuitive when i play a scmhup where the thumb can never be fast enough )

Actually it is very hard to transition to a fighting game after playing a shmup

ill try that out thank you

Are you sure? I could have sworn I combo’ed after a mk or lk CW.

Is this specific to point blank, or can farther ranges yield something different?

Is there anything easier than cr.lp cr.lp rekkas? That hits crouchers, and is an easier link?

MK CW is +2 on hit, and LK CW is +0 on hit. Only way you could combo off of those is if you counter-hit the LAST hit (interrupt an attack with the 3rd hit of CW). From what I’ve heard, counter-hit happens often when you break focus with the 3rd hit as opposed to the 1st hit (hit with #2 and #3 against an opponent who is trying to Focus).

For BnBs against crouchers, there’s cr.LP> close st.LK> cr.LP xx Rekkas which forces you to link as you can’t rapidfire cancel from close st.LK. Also try using cl.MP to hit-confirm into cr.LP xx Rekkas.

It was probably CH then.

Cl.Mp hit all chars crouching?

Yup. cl.MP hits mid so you can’t crouch to dodge it.

That’s better than ST fei. :woot:

I don’t know if this has already been discussed, but I was wondering how punishable Fei’s MK Chicken Wing is on block.

Frame data says its -2, which seems like a small window. Which characters are able to actually capitalize on this to punish? Grapplers seem like a given, but I’m not familiar enough with frame data to know who else I should be worried about.

it’d be too small for any normals and normal throws if that’s what you want to know.
You can either n.jump, backdash, or maybe spam another cw. You can also mix it up with ex.tenshin when your opponent knows or too afraid to go for any punishments.
Actually, you can beat dp spammers with your own flamekick on block i think, but i wouldn’t recommand that unless you have meters to fadc.

Yea the way the negative frames are set, if the opponent goes for a reversal DP, that means that his invincibility frames are used up during those first two frames. If you launch your own DP at that point or go for another CW, you should be able to beat it.

And if they delay their reversal?

Lol then it’s not a reversal :-p. In that case you can also say: What if I delay my DP? It’s 50-50 if you want to look at it like that, but most people will reversal if they have the desire to DP since that will beat most other attacks (and it’s easier than timing a DP naked).

As a note, I believe EX SRKs can beat this since the invincibility frames are boosted, though I don’t know if that applies to all of them.

Where is fei’s frame data located at exactly? More specifically are any of his non ex flamekicks good for non wakeup AA, or should I look to using mk, hk and hp?
