I guess i have to get those combos down. It’s still challenging for me to know the timing of the canceling into the rekka.
Buffer it inside the poke. You’re throwing. I usually plink the rekka with lp/hp. Helps especially online. It’s essentially four inputs of the buttons accounting for negative edging. Negative edge is the only way I can get makoto’s st hp xx jayate to come out most times
Aside from basic combos, your focus with fei I feel at the start should be playing patient and learning the spacing and applications of his pokes.
We can get into that next time
Goukens standing hp is the bane of fei’s existence hahaha
Plink rekka with? Mind explaining? Never even heard of negative edge. What does that mean?
Gouken eh? I gotta see that move. I got a long way to go. Until I can do at least one combo. No playing with fei for me. Lol
Ok I just read up and seen a video on negative edging. Wow. No can you explain exactly how you use that with fei?
Wasn’t sure where to post this but this is the only thread that seems regularly active that this could POSSIBLY fit into.
Eventhubs was discussing the Rose - Fei matchup due to the Hamad vs Wong recent long set and they said this:
This is the first I’d ever heard of a “severe” nerf to Fei’s corner carry. I made a video showing how far LP Rekka travels in USF4 vs AE2012 as well as the corner carry for a HPx3 Combo which is what you’d typically use after a hit confirm.
I thought you Feis might be interested to see the results:
LP Rekka lost about a smidge over half of the smallest training block in terms of distance. That’s it overall for a change to his corner carry.
Wow, that’s severe.
Is fei even worth trying to master for tournaments right now? And why is he considered top tier by daigo, tokido, kazunoko?
fei is still top-tier because his powerful and core gameplay style hasn’t changed since sf4 vanilla. Capcom only mainly nerfed his clutches, making it easier to punish his already unsafe or poorly spaced attacks, which shouldn’t be a problem for fei players that have his ground footsies gameplay mastered
after a few months of playing usf4 fei, i dare say that he’s better than before compared to ae2012 because of his cr.MP damage buff, 3-hit U1 juggle, and delayed wakeup defense option
Thanks fohstick. Appreciate it. Are you on psn? If so my name on there is Haitian_akuma. Lol. I really should change that. Where should I start with fei?
nah. im stuck on the PC
you should start with this guide:
Having trouble with FADC chicken wing. Never seems to come out ? Is there a short cut for chicken wing ? Extremely difficult to pull off for me not sure what im doing wrong.
You’re probably doing it too fast or missing the motion. Just take your time.
I dunno if this has been discovered or talked about yet, but I found a punish for Elena’s sweep today from max distance. If you walk forward for a few frames and then ex rekka you can punish her. Doesn’t seem to work with any other version of rekka though, I’m guessing ex has a slightly bigger hit box on it. I’m gong to try to make a video displaying the punish tomorrow.
Lately I’ve been thinking of picking up a secondary and I feel like Yun patches up Fei’s harder matchups bettere than any other. It seems like he’s good against Vega, Poison, Elena and Rose. Any thoughts?
Hello Fei Long players, last night White tower Hamad streamed, and he showed off a lot of Fei Long knowledge and strategies, particularly in certain matchups such as Chun Li, Vega, and Elena. I’m not sure if a stream archive is available, but if there is one, it’s very much worth checking out.
Here’s the link to his Twitch Channel. You may have to follow him to access the archived footage, though:
Who are some good non-divekick alts for Fei’s bad MU’s? Or is Fei good enough to stand by himself even with the bad MU’s?
If you don’t want a dive kick then Kens a pretty good choice imo. His rush down and 3 frame dp punisher are what Fei lacks in his tough matches.
I’ve actually been rolling with Fei/Yang for a bit now, but I really dont feel like Yang plays to my personal strengths at all. I struggle with going into a pure rushdown mindset and try to play him really patient, which makes me end up losing more matches than winning. I actually do have a Ken that I recently started working on last week, so that works well for me haha. Do you know if Ken beats the Bison/Vega/Chun MU’s?
The good thing about Ken, is that he doesn’t really have any disadvantaged match ups. He’s fairly even across the cast. I know he probably beats two of Fei’s toughest matches - Elena and Vega.
For Bison and Chun, Fei doesn’t really lose those matches, if you want a character that bodies Chun pick Poison (pretty much her toughest match I think), and for Bison it would be Guile. I think at high level both of these matches are approaching hard counter. Especially Bison vs Guile.
thanks for the advice.
One last question, when using cr.mp, do you try and hit confirm it? Or do you already have something in mind for what you wanted to do after you throw it out?
Asking because of how Fei’s CH cr.mp can link into rekkas. Currently, I just throw cr.mp out without any thought to whether it’s blocked or it hits. So if I connect a CH cr.mp into rekkas, it’s because I was gonna link the rekkas regardless of whether the cr.mp was blocked or hit.
