Fei Long Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Okay, I’ll give it a try.

i use a sanwa stick and i use #2. same motion you do crouching foward into hadouken, except faster. speed is the key to this combo.

what is fei long’s best melee to punish as a footsie. in other words, when a player whiffs a sweep or low mk (e.g. ryu) is there a balrog type of fierce kick sweep that will punish?

i’ve noticed a quick light rekka would punish… but that sort of defeats the purpose of footsies

i’ve tried low strong kick and it whiffs as it seems way too short.

how bout crouching fierce?

if you react fast enough you can get cr.fierce, but the start up is 8 frames, so you would have to be really quick. you could whiff punish ryu because his sweep has massive recovery, but rog would be trickier. and lp rekka startup is 7 frames, so if you are that quick, you may as well rekka

Yea. I usually just use rekka.
After a few times, they’ll be too scared to do the sweep again lol

How do you perform cl.HK xx Ultra/Super?

If I do :d: :df: :r: + :hk:, :d: :df: :r: + :p::p::p: that doesn’t work because the double hard kick comes out (:r: + :hk:).

I also tried :d: :df: :r:, neutral :hk:, :d: :df: :r: + :p::p::p: - but that one has difficult timing.

If I do :hk: first I’m too slow to do the 2xQCF needed afterwards.

cl.hk does not cancel into ultra but it does cancel into super

this is probably the easiest way of executing it

:qcf::qcf:, (move the stick to neutral) :hk:,:hp:

Thanks - I’ll give that a try.

Focus Attack Lv2 on block = +5 advantage I’ve been informed. I’ve been practicing yet im still able to be SRK’d after the dash in with cr. lk. Do you really have an advantage on this? cr. lk is 3 frames… Does LVL 2 Focus fully charged or what?

^^^your opponent will stay in blockstun as long as you hit cr.lk within 2 frames of a completed dash. you may or may not get your 2 frames online. in any case its a small window, if you miss, a mashed dp will hit you

Guys what do you think is the best timing on a Flame kick FADC mine feel more like luck (which I hate.)

Do you mean FADC’ing the flame kick?

Just press :mp: + :mk: > :r: :r: or :l: :l: as soon as you see the knee come out.

BTW, how are you doing on the Challenge Trials? I’ll be online later tonight if you need any help.

or what you could do is do the flame kick and when the kick hit (usually there is a pause about a few milliseconds i think ) then do FA and dash forward / back, if you don’t plan to follow up with anything, you can charge your FA then slowly do a dash forward / back. once you get the feeling, you can do it faster as you like and follow up with cw

I’ve got a quick question. Every time I’m walking forward and immediately attempt a flame kick, I get fei’s command grab instead. Is this a common problem with most new fei players? Is there a way around this?

I like a fei a lot, but this is incredibly annoying. To be honest, this is the only time shortcuts have really frustrated me. Any help would be appreciated.

Umm…yeah I kind of had the same problem in the beginning. And occasionally every now and then make the same mistake.

I think what you’re doing is hitting the kick button too early. Or what you can do is let the stick/pad hit neutral real quick (and I mean real quick). In the training room, concentrate on walking forward or dashing and buffering the flame kick through til you get 90% accuracy/execution.

Alot of things with Fei comes with practice and hard training. It’s like you need to develop Yomi to use Fei really effectively.

Thanks Nem I practiced a whole bunch of Flamekick FADC its feeling a little less random now. Now on to Hard trial 1 that dam n HP to rekka’s is a bitch

I believe you are using pad? if you are then i think the problem is with the radius of you doing the down and downback from backward is to big that it covers the downforward, try to put a smaller radius, i know its hard to do but once you get the feeling you are in it

I’m actually using a stick. I guess my motions are just sloppy. I’ll practice harder in training mode. Thanks for the help.

yeah, i know how it feels mate. opponent jump in, you have the perfect idea of a flame kick but tenshin comes out instead and free combos for the opponent
