You sure it was cl mp and not cl jab? The cl MP pushes you away from your opponent, so you can get far HP (the handshake).

Yeah maybe I dreamed it but I recall it amazed me. In my memories it was LLL Momi in the hippos stage, but I can’t find the damn video anymore. Anyway nevermind.
I guess try in the lab, but I’ve never seen that. I think when you do trials it has you do jab, strong then fierce, but it’s far fierce.

What option selects n setups do you guys use, like which ones do you think are viable/essential?
I do the cr.HP in the cr. shorts on their wake up to catch backdashers, and I buffer rekkas from st. and cr. jabs in neutral game.
My safe jumps are dash, neutral jump HK after back throw. Move a little then jumping fierce after forward throw. Walk back a bit after throws in the corner for ambiguous jumping MP.
Could possibly work in the corner on a fat character like T-hawk. There’s enough frame advantage from cl.mp ch to link a fierce. Could also possibly have been a trade situation that resets the animations.
With DJ there’s never any need to jump on him after a KD. Like sendmaster said, ground meaty cr.lk will make every move he has whiff bar his Ultra. He’s basically out of options on a KD apart from blocking.
I feel like maybe he FADC’d Cl. St. MP then followed up with Cl. Fierce
So I tried it in the lab, and it is possible, but you have do have to cancel right after MP hits and then cancel and go to close fierce. I’m gonna record and post to the forum.

This is what most likely happened as you can FADC cl.mp to cl.hp
That’s probably it then. Could be useful to kill I guess.
I wouldn’t recommend it, especially since there are better ways to end a round if you are FADCing anyways.
Especially if it was counter hit cl.mp, +10 is a ton of frames to punch people

I just meant it could be useful to end a match since FADC cl.HP xx Dragon will, in any case, do more damage than any other followup after a cl.MP (well, maybe except Ultra 1 but not counting that one). Especially if you have the meter for another cancel.
On counter hits, you get plus 3 frames? Close MP on hit is +7.

Mmmhmm try it out, put counterhit on and do cl.mp xx U1 it’ll work
That’s also why cr.mp on CH you can lp(ex) rekka

It totally can work. Here you go.

I guess I took it for granted that people knew this stuff, I guess I should post here more often.
If there’s anything else that seems wonky or you want me to test it out just ask.

I honestly never tried it. Idk if I’d ever use it in a match, but it’s good info to have.

If you’re going to waste a whole stick of butter on two FADCs you might as well practice hit confirming cl.MP into super. Also cl.mp as an oki tool is very useful, especially if you use it as a counter hit setup: cr.lk delay cl.MP, or as a meaty.
My advice is to stave off using the fadc and practice either confirming to super/ultra or cl.mp xx FK. I would advise this because playing safe is smarter, builds better habits, and styling with combos like that is only viable when you seriously outclass the other player, otherwise you risk running into problems (dropped combos/reversal ultra etc)
In short: don’t waste meter on high execution combos, play it safe
So today, while playing against an El Fuerte, I went twice for the blocked cr.lk, st.lp into command grab, followed with st.HP xx DP and both times the DP whiffed after the fierce cancel.
I did not have the time to test it yet, but is this something specific to El Fuerte? If so, does it happen against more chars?
The cl.HP xx fK will whiff on certain characters after the tenshin, might only hit once (for HK and EX FK), may whiff completely (Rose/Viper) depending on where on the screen you are, and finally the ex and regular tenshins leave you at different spaces (again dependent on where you are on the screen) making follow ups whiff after cl.HP.
I’ve had quite a bit Fuerte play and I think you may have had bad timing. Again it depends on if you used EX or not, and if you were in the corner when you landed the tenshin. If you have the opponent in the corner you shouldn’t be whiffing the xx FK. I can do a video if you’re having trouble understanding.
