Fei Long Moveset/Attributes

After Fei’s first hit of the ultra, they just need to let go of the buttons to hit Fei before the 2nd hit and you’ll crumple, is what I mean. Just because you land the first hit (which does a small bit of damage), they can still finish the FA and crumple you.

The thing is, is your opponent sharp enough with Focus to let it go at the right time? In higher play, those who know will likely be on top of it, but vs some people you will see them

a. let go of focus too early (just before the first hit connects)
b. let go of focus too late (just after the 2nd hit connects)
c. not let go at all

So just feel it out and be aware of who you are vs.

On another note, after playing more Fei in a session recently vs other local 4 players, Tenshins are not easy to land AT ALL. There are way too many players who are not trying to sit there and block your shit. Creativity is definitely needed to land that consistently (if there are any situations outside of that where it is virtually guaranteed).

Playing my 1st Gief was quite the experience as well. I notched some wins, but damn was it such a fragile match-up. And I imagine it gets worse…

Training your opponent to block after CWs by doing flame kicks if they try something seems to help, in my cases anyway. Then they become fearful of the flame kick and wait for you to throw it out and block it. Try throwing out some f+mk as well.

Poke strings crouching and standing don’t seem to work well in getting a tenshin off, but maybe I need more practice at it.

Nah they just don’t work, lol. I’ve tried to work it in too, can’t find a good setup.

cr.HP is FEI LONG’S BEST ANTI-AIR. I was getting frustrated tonight trying to anti air shit and getting beat out till I started using this. It didn’t seem like it’d be good but it actually ducks their move and beats them out pretty consistently.

j.HK is his best jumping move by far, I had it beat so much shit out tonight, the hit box is really deceptive. Just jumping back HK beats a huge amount of characters options.

Also j.HK can hit at max height as a jump in and you still have time to ultra. Shit is ridiculous.

^Holy crap about c.HP, I have to try that. I’ve been doing standing roundhouse and against some of the cast it seems godly. Just have to be on it, but with no input motion, can do as they jump.

Yeah, you were able to do c.HP to characters like Gief in ST.

In SF4, jumping attacks only stay out briefly. When you do a jump in attack, it ends pretty early before you land on the ground.

I’ll start to use c.HP more often as well. :looney:

Yeah I’ve been trying that too, shit trades too often. I’ll take c.HP clean hits over that any day, haha.

Hmm, it doesn’t work for all jump ins, though. Few cases where it just makes their jumpin wiff, while your FP wiffs too. I think I’m gona start walking under/dashing under jumps more, and praying flame kick/s.HK works for getting up lol.

Anyone know if roundhouse flame kick has more priority than short flame kick like Ryu’s jab and fierce DPs?

Does anyone use EX. rekkas?

when and why?

I compared damages and the increase is pitiful… eating fireballs only happens when u start flaming… not reliable…
is it slightly faster?

sounds like there’s no real use for it… esp. since u rekka from combos usually. The damage increase used in a combo isnt’ worth the meter imo…

I never use the EX rekkas… it’s a waste of ex meter, mostly… but they do come out a few frames faster, to help punish slightly safer moves.

For example:

Ryu’s cr. RH sweep - guard it and you can punish with 3 rekkas.

Chun Li’s cr.RH - Guard it and you cannot punish with normal rekkas… BUT, you might be able to with the EX version.

try it.

I’m loving f+mk atm, very good for in their face stuff, a couple of people were saying it was unsafe on block i think though, how unsafe is that? Just dp unsafe or very unsafe?

Also his close fierce is unsafe ON HIT, just throwing that little tidbit out there in case anyone doesn’t know :o

standing fierce is very very good im finding, quick and damaging

Also thanks to whoever suggested starting the CW motion with b instead of db, my CW is now reliable from BOTH sides

BTW what are people using for bread and butter hit confirms from jump ins? Right now im doing close mp then if that hits rdp, rekkas aren’t worth the tiny extra damage for the chance i’ll screw up imo. I was using close fierce but stopped when i realise how unsafe it was. Also what do you guys do if you hit a jump in from far away so you’re not in close range, any decent combos? I hear ultra works but what if you have no meter?

OK ive done some testing and playing and rdp doesnt connect after close mp after a cross up or if you jump in at a little distance, guess im going to have to get rekkas to 100% all the time :o

oh well

If you can get the unsafe cl. FP off, you can combo right into a safe rekka… retroactively making the cl. FP safe

you can link a lp, then rekka, after your hit confirming mp if you want.

also… far away jump in… if i feel i’m too far away, I just cr. fp.

Just a quick note, but I found that Taunt #5 is actually usable in certain select situations. Granted, ducking/blocking/outright dodging is 99% more effective, but you have to admit it’s hilarious to see the umpteenth ken hurricane kick over you while Fei lies done and says “Boring”.

I’ve also dodged non-ex fireballs, shamwow, high tiger shots, and several other moves using it.

Warning: It is easily punishable. I only include this for the lol factor.

Just something to think about.

A Nun,

Did the same exact thing at the beginning of a fight against a Sagat player. The first thing he threw was a High Tiger Shot and I automatically did Taunt #5. Heard him cracking up for a hot minute.

lol whut?

haha yeah I always pick this taunt, it’s great to get them to come to you when you just lay down under their fireballs. Good for a laugh too and gets people hyped if you’re at a tournament, lol.

Hey has anyone unlocked all of Fei Long’s taunts? How many does he have? Can someone describe them? I only have up to 5 and ofcourse I always choose the 5th one hehe.
