Are you sure that Fei’s cr. lp is +2? The frame data on the wiki says it’s even. It lists cr.mp as +2 on block though. Also, I think someone (maybe bubblan) mentioned in a different thread that lp rekka was -3 on block, and the wiki says it’s -4. Is there more reliable frame data available somewhere that I don’t know about?
So is -4 on block unsafe? I wanna start using LK Chicken Wing more but I dunno if it’s safe to try.
It depends heavily on pushback. Honda’s supers are -6 on block, but the pushback makes them almost entirely safe (Chun might be able to punish them).
Dully’s pretty much right. Basically the same reason lp rekka is safe if spaced correctly. I don’t think lk chickenwing is safe though, unless your opponent can’t tell the difference between lk and mk chickenwing.
-4 on block is a free reversal dragon punch.
A shallow LK CW might be safe, though no one has tried to reverse one of mine before. At max range, you should be able to get the same bounce-back as LP Rekka. Needs to be tested though.
Blocked LK CW = Eat DP reversal
Tested here…
I abuse the LK CW quite abit. Like Nosone says, if you do the LK CW shallow enough, you can actually use the invincibility frames from the backdash to jump out before the DP/cr.RH hits. It just varies on how far the cr.RH reaches as opposed to you getting hit though.
EDIT: Unless it’s a reversal dp. lol.
lk cw is useless and mk cw sucks, I don’t get why some people keep spamming those. mk cw did not get better because hk cw was nerfed.
I played some SF4 today (been a month since last) after playing a lot of 3s and I just realized that tenshin is Fei’s best special. Why? because block is god tier in this game and if an opponent is set on blocking and teching throws (which is too easy), tenshin is the only way to get some damage. Just gotta watch out for them reversals but that’s where mixups come in.
got that anti air thread coming soon.
finding out some very interesting stuff in relation to hit trades, and why the damned flame kick gets stuffed.
cuz i think i can see hitboxes now, like im in the matrix :nunchuck:
seriously tho, my findings explain a lot
Damn that sucks on LK CW. I wanted to use it as an option for avoiding throws and low pokes at close range since HK CW flies over them if they just crouch block.
I think Flame Kick just needs a better lower hitbox throughout the move. It seems like it has a pretty small hit box. A good example is how ryu can uppercut another ryu’s cr.MK from a decent range away but Fei cannot.
Maybe the overhead can be used like I wanted to use LK CW…hmm…
I’ve been messing around with the cw lately and finally started abusing/spamming hk cw close up especially when the opponent is in the corner. I’m really enjoying watching what they might try between 2 successive cw’s.
Anyway as you guys are talking about the lk cw I’ve found one good use, close up against a crouching opponent the lk cw will crossup.
This can be useful since it seems most players will block in a crouching state especially if they knock you down (normally they are crouching over you maybe waiting for a flamekick?).
Also I’ve found that opponents will block a jump in high then immediately block low so the following can be useful on block
deep j.mp, st.mp xx lk cw
I’ve found that j.hp/j.hk and st.hp pushes the opponent too far resulting in you not crossing up
I really don’t think so but maybe someday it will be obvious that it is.
Tenshin is pretty much the only way Fei can get some damage if the opponent keeps blocking and teching throws. Without it would be impossible to damage a smart, defensive opponent. I played vs a good Bison today and learned that once you’ve got health advantage hold db like Mike Ross vs Gooteks at devestation and if you’re holding db better than Mike Ross does you win.
Don’t forget about rekkas for chip damage. =}
Thanks for the tip but no thank you=)
Man I started winning a lot more when I stopped using chicken wing all the time. I used to try to reverse with it all the time but that rarely works. Just save it for fireballs and the occasional standing poke whorer (DICTATOR). Also cut back on focus attack. I still use it but I had the bad habit of using it as anti air. If you have time to recognize the jump in, just flame kick. I save all my meter for EX flame kick as anti air and FADC flame kick reversal, seems to work pretty well.
thought CW lost to stRH. which version were you using?
HK chicken wing. It definitely beats it, assuming you go through it early and not late.
Also apparently you can anti air with his ultra if they attack, you can catch them in the few frames of landing recovery. I did that today and was like O_O REALLY?!
I have the feeling that Tenshin will be a must use for a good Fei, kinda like Makoto’s command grab.
… but for that we really need some nasty setups for it.
