Against Makoto, Cody, Rufus and Hugo FK FABDC MK CW whiffs in the corner, but MK FK FABDC LK CW , Ultra works for 420dmg (very hard with Hugo, better do FK FABDC Ultra).
Against Sakura and Elena MK CW whiffs and LK CW only hits twice. But FK FADBC Ultra works.
Against Poison and Balrog MK and LK CW only hit twice. But FK FADBC Ultra works.
Against Ibuki and Guy it’s not possible to link the Ultra after FK FABDC MK or LK CW in the corner. But FK FABDC Ultra still does 348dmg.
Against Rose MK CW whiffs and while LK CW gets 3 hits you can’t link the Ultra afterwards. But FK FABDC Ultra works.
Against Vega it’s very hard to link into Ultra after MK CW. Not worth the risk - better go for FK FABDC Ultra.
Against Gouken you dash under him for the final Ultra hit in the corner after MK CW which means only 314dmg. So FK FABDC Ultra is better against Gouken, too.
Thanks. Blanka works though, just tested. The thing is you and the opponent have to be “point blank” in the corner. So it’s basically only doable on the opponent’s wakeup.
Can be used much like how Yun can use EX Zenpou Tenshin to reset mid-combo. Here are some examples, on hit:
cr.LK > cr.MP > EX Tenshin
j.MP > cl.MP > EX Tenshin
cl.HP/HK RFA > cl.MP > EX Tenshin - about 890 stun depending on ender
It’s useful now because he can do high damage and stun before resetting, by using Red Focus. Some characters would need to be downbacking in order for the EX Tenshin to hit but that is the expected response from the opponent which is why it’s useful.
A 10f EX Tenshin also means his ticks from cl.MP are a little tighter, making his CH game a little stronger.
You can also use this as a reset but it’s not especially tight:
cr.LK > cr.LK > cl.HP FADC Tenshin
Useful because the opponent will very much be expecting the combo to be finished given Fei Long’s low gimmick potential.
I don’t know if Fei is better in Ultra, but he feels more fun to play. The +4 cr.LK and further detection on cl.HP just make him more dynamic, as his combos do more damage and are more consistent. You don’t have to rely purely on rekka pressure. He’s probably more fun to play against too.
The delayed wake up is in his favour too, as he wasn’t too reliant on set ups.
Although I haven’t found any use for red focus in combos, as he can do about the same damage in every situation without it.
I can use ex.Tenshin just like Yun uses his command grab too, catch alot of jumpers with cl.MP!
I dropped Fei for Rose in anticipation for Ultra, but I prefer Fei in Ultra! Pretty strange I guess. Maybe if Rose’s cr.LK, cr.LP, cr.LP, cr.MPxxLP Spiral Arrow worked on everyone I would main her but alas it wiffs so much!

Man I wish cl.LP hit everyone crouching. It wouldn’t of even been a buff, just would of made the game feel less shitty. CAPCOM PLZ!
Also I think the 60% / 75% thing for ultra combo double is dumb, as some of the 60% characters like Fei just don’t use ultra combo double because the damage is a joke.
I’ve not been playing Fei a lot but something I noticed yesterday against a decent Rolento player was that if I buffered a rekka behind a crouching jab it would catch him out of his rolls - mid roll - for a full combo. I don’t think I was getting lucky, I was just throwing it out there to test things and it countered every time. It might be helpful if you guys are finding it irritating to play against.
Ken was able to punish it before with cr.mk? Nothing has changed.
As long as you space lp rekka properly to make it hit max distance kens cr.mk whiffs and even if you were a bit closer the only thing he can do is poke you with cr.mk since cr.mkxxEx.tatsu whiffs.
being able to OS LP rekka from low short and go into fierce on hit just feels too good.
unfortunately if someone is mashing the hell out of crouch jab you’ll get jabbed if you whiff the the stand jab. this really only happens to me online though.
the rekka nerfs didn’t seem that bad at first when i was in training mode but after playing matches it’s really annoying. the matchups where you constantly have to chase really got that that much harder. more chasing.
Good news: c.LP > s.LP , cls.HP xx HP Rekkas works on crouching and standing Cody, too. I guess I linked into s.LP when I’ve tested on Cody before (then s.LP whiffs). Will update the chart tomorrow. EDIT: done
Note that c.LP > s.LP > s.LP , c.LP xx Rekkas does not work on crouching Cody (2nd s.LP whiffs), but c.LP > s.LP , c.LP xx Rekkas always works.
For the most part you are right Ken was able to punish it before but saying nothing has changed is wrong. Before it was a 1 frame punish with lk rekka being -4 on block first hit. So it was harder for Ken to punish it. Now it’s a 2 frame punish which is much easier to punish unless I frame trap with second hit of rekka which puts me at a huge risk. It’s whatever I use gouken for the ken match up anyway most of the time. That is my only complaint besides that and standing Jab wiffing in crouchers fie is still very strong

Ultra Fei is probably a top 8 character when it’s all said and done. It’s hard for a character to be anything but good with great normals, uncompromising AA, 3f punishes that carry to the corner and damage for days. cr.lk combos into cl.hp are you kidding me???
As for cr.lk complaints, Fei lives and dies by the 1f link. It used to really bug me to see other Feis herping it up with crouch tech on wake up and in pressure strings. Don’t mash that, you link that shit. As long as it’s physically possible to put two together in a combo that leads into rekkas we’re still in there.
