today i just found out that cl mp cancels into hk chicken wing on some characters and was going to post it but sadly this discovery had already been made …sadface
Oh yea! and it is a must to do cl.HP from that CW as it will lead into a 400 (or something close to it, depending on CH, whether you focused before or not ect.) dmg non-meter combo! Some of the characters this works on are some of fei’s harder match-ups so it is a must to learn IMO.
Who does this work on? The Cl.MP to HK CW combo.
Dudley and Juri…you have to use EX CW for Zangief, Rose, Sagat, and Cammy. Correct me if I’m wrong anyone.
works on everyone without ex cw; add chunli, makoto t.hawk to the list, which is on the combo thread
edit: bah! doesnt work on abel, funny nobody noticed it… im gonna remove my french buddy from the list
DOes it matter if you’re close or far? (The distance before cl mp turns into far standing mp to full closeness)
A nice little combo string I figured out the other day:
low short, stand short (knee version, not the ankle kick), low jab xx (rekka x 3).
What’s nice about this combo is that it starts low, hits smaller characters that are ducking (like Ryu and Chun), and it seems easier to cancel the last jab into rekkas then the low short x n, low jab xx rekka version of the combo. Be careful if your opponent blocks this though, they can mash out between the stand short and low jab.

As long as your opponent is standing, it’s good to go
Lol if you bother to read the links and combos compendium thread here you’ll see that it’s been posted here months ago. XD
Ahah that’s right, but still, it’s nice to see people experimenting with fei
just found that it is possible to cancel cl.mp into hk chickenwing on claw , but the timing is weird and it works sometimes and sometimes it straight whiffs over his head .
Yeah, was waiting for someone to realise this. Will post a video explaining how and why this works, and how to force it to combo. Seth has the same bug.
Can anybody help me out? I typically play as Dhalsim, but this guy I’ve been playing with has been beating me with Fei Long about 75% of the time. I decided to start playing more frequently as Fei to learn more about his weaknesses.
When I go from a low jab xx into the HK CW combo, and then go into a low block, my character gets stuck in his position. Is this a problem within the game or is there something wrong with my arcade sticks?
Hm… I’ll see if I can expand on this. Perhaps the jump in attack my cause claw to move in a certain way.

Sweet! Perhaps it works for other characters then! DId you happen to try it with others?
Its not mine its his
Using it is pretty low risk on vega as he has no invincible reversal exept for ultra.
In watching some recent Mago vids, I noticed sometimes he will be in close and land cLK cLK cLP cLP. So my question is: is there ever a strategic benefit to ending the combo there? Or is it possible he’s screwing up the Rekka (which would make me feel a helluvalot better lol)? I find both the former and the latter highly unlikely, so just thought I’d throw it out there…
I mean no one can say for sure if he is missing the rekka unless we see some inputs, but it is very likely as it is a 1 framer, but if he isn’t missing it and is doing it on purpose it is a block string with no gaps, similar to cr.lk X3 > st.lk. He may be trying to bait something, or fishing for a counter hit by following up after with a cr.mp, but that doesn’t sound like Mago.
Edit: I realized this post I typed should go in a diff thread. But so this isnt wasted space I’ll add a sweet tip I learned. It’s not a “combo,” per se, but on block, you can actually 2-in-1 sLP into EX Tenshin and it works! You shouldnt really be able to 2-in-1 into a grab, but the stun on sLP works as such that it works! Amazing! Credit to Danimitsu for the info
