dude its not hard, its freaking easy
and yet I keep getting chain into s.lp or nothing if I go for other rekka…
Never had that problem before with any character
Here is the thing, going from cLP into rekka is easy (try cLP x Rekka in training mode and see)
the problem that when you are trying a combo the cLP or sLP have a chance of being a chain instead of a link and therefore rekka wont come out. so here is my advice
-
Go for the easiest combo: which is cLK (chain) sLP (link) cLP(cancel) rekka
I believe sLP is +5 and cLP is a 3 frame move giving you 3 frames to “link” it.
*works on standing characters only -
Use Negative Edge for this combo for crouching characters: cLK(chain)cLP(link)cLP (negative edge)light rekka
now this is way difficult because cLP link into cLP is a 1 frame link and not plinkable, so why I say Negative edge is that if you hit the it too early (chain) the rekka will not come out and you can then press cMP to frame trap and continue pressure, if you are on point the cLP will cancel into rekka with negative edge and if you are late light rekka has the least recovery so you are kinda safe (if your opponent is not balrog or any other character that has great quick moves)
PRACTICE AND YOU WILL LEARN.
thanks,
I actually pretty familiar with the whole chain/links mechanic. I just can’t get more then 10% cr.lp x Rekka .
stand alone
nothing before nothing after.
just pure normal cancel into special.
feel like I’m with a girl for some sexy time and have to say “listen, really, it never happened before”
that kind of bad I am
I think I might make a video with my hands in view and go through the various rekka techniques. This threads been screaming out for that shit for years.
Right up there with Sagat’s kara TS as the most asked question.
I think you have to slow down some, it seems to work better, I always muck it up in a tight match, (which I am working on)

Honda only
Damage 456, 483 and 540
When doing the link from c.lk to c.lp xx rekka I find it easier to double tap rather than -(edge). I find the double tap also helps with your OS rekka timing to catch people back dashing.
Also, I’m going to the 25th SF tournament this weekend so hopefully I learn some things from watching Mago and Fuudo!

Idk if I posted this here as well, but if you’re having problems, just slow down your inputs on pad. If you’re canceling from jab to rekka, there’s going to be a slight delay.
Ok so idk if this is new but its new to me, you can cancel Cl.HP into HK CW on counter hit only which makes for some nice damage. If anyone wants a video i can post one
This makes for counter hit setups like cr.LK, CL HP xx HK CW you know the follow ups. Im so scrubby for not trying that before -_-’
Tried finding something new on counter hit against Abel, Pretty useful (apologies in advance for the bad ratio on the vid lol)

Anyone have info on the cr.lk,st.lp,st.lp->Rekka combo? I’ve seen Fuudo do it a lot lately. I’d really want to learn this as it gives you more range when compared to cr.lp->rekka.
If by execution you mean then doing the last st.lp then move the stick as if you were cancelling into dp is the most effective way for me personally.
It helps when keeping you close to the opponent. I’m actually trying to practice using it more often, as sometimes when I go for cr jab it whiffs or blocks.
If you guys want to make it easier to practice the stand jab cancel, go into the lab vs either Sagat or Abel as they both can be jabbed numerous times while standing.
This will also help when fighting them, as you’ll soon learn that canceling stand jab isn’t too hard.
I can post a video if you guys like of my hands/timing. Mind you I double tap the stand jab, but you can plink to fierce rekka if you like.
Thx Don, I gotta try that. I’ve practiced doing it in training, but rarely use it in the real gm. I need to, as I will whiff from time to time on crouch jab.
Thanks for the tips. One thing I noticed is that st.lp doesn’t really offer much of a range advantage. If it is so, what exactly is the advantage of doing it as it seems much harder than cr.lp into rekka?
Stand LP does 10 more damage than cr lp, that damage is important if you’re like me and like to try and maximize the damage given to you. That being said, if you are having issues canceling from stand jab stick to the cr.lp rekka until you feel comfortable with the cancel.
i love the j.MK/j.MP > cl.MP > sweep combo. it’s like a semi-vortex combo that you can abuse and repeat until the opponent gets his/her game together
