I’d assume there’s some window of time where someone coming in can’t be grabbed, but maybe they can forfeit it by doing a move or something? Not sure.

You can’t grab an incoming opponent unless they perform an action, x-23 and shuma are exceptions because their “grabs” are actually unblockable hits. Technically you can wait to see what action they perform and if they come in swinging you can jump up and try to grab them(if thors air grab has invincibility) but I honestly wouldn’t advise even going for it.

What I meant was that if you jump at them with a j.:l: (for example), then they have to take the “action” of blocking it, which means they’re now throwable. I was just wondering if there was a window between the end of the block/hit stun of the j.:l: and the time you land that you could stick a grab into.

it wont work Ogrim. it was one of the theories i tested when the game came out

I’m not sure its been posted here but I have a reset combo thats just about the touch of death from anywhere figured it out a few days ago but having issues landing it consistently and its not a corner combo…(Well you generally wind up there) I start by Superjumping up foward airdash foward M,Mighty smash (Cover with assist) Triangle jump L,C.L,C.M,S,J.M,J.M,L.Mightystrike Cancel on first hit into Mighty Tornado. Airdash wherever they are H.Mighty Hurricane, S,J.M,J.M,J.H,J.S,Land H.Mighty Smash, Air Mighty Hurricane.(Now they Are in the corner) M.Mighty Smash,H.Mighty Smash, Air Mighty Hurricane. Now there dead. Ive nailed it About 6 times online and a bunch of times in the lab the only problem I have is sometimes getting the M mighty smash near the end of the combo to connect sometimes I whiff it I just think im inputting it to slowly.

I am having serious issues with Dante Akuma and Ammy to the point where when I see them I just Sneak She Hulk in. I may give it a go for a minute but if things get nasty I get thor out. they are too quick with their pokes for you to really get any offense going. Which leads me back to something I said day one with thor… He needs some type of armor on Something to discourage pokers or his throw needs a much higher priority. The best I can do is when they get entirely too close and start poking I grab them with mighty punish but that usually only works once.

Also not sure its common knowledge but you can do a S.launcher from anywhere on screen after a M.Mighty smash. I generally move foward with strike or smash so its been pretty good to me. If im lucky enough to catch someone with an overhead and I just want to scare them I generally use after overhead C.L,C.M cancel into M.Mighty Smash,S … thats generally another opening for my big reset.

I think Ammy is one of Thor’s worst matchups. I seriously have no idea what to do against her. I also have huuuugggeee problems against Wolverine and his fucking herp derp dive kick. Hell any character with a good dive kick gives me problems. What are you guys doing? Is there some ground normal/special I can use? I try air to air stuff but everything I try tends to lose. Meh, just when I had weened myself off the Haggar lariat assist…now I need it again. :lol:

Honestly I think Zero’s a worse matchup for Thor, if not his absolute worst. Ammy’s a bitch (:3) but at least it will take her a while to kill you and you can get a lucky shot off. Zero has resets, keepaway, and EXTREMELY long combos just to annoy and aggravate you while he kills you off.

I find Magneto with Drones assist the biggest pain in the ass period. That shit is so cheap. But so is my Wesker :slight_smile:

Yeah, I hate that crap. Thank god for Wesker…but after 8 straight times of beating someone down with that strategy, I was just like “you know what, I’m tired of this, I just don’t care…”

Yea I think Drones are actually Weskers bane and Magneto is a bad matchup for him since he is locked down the entire time and teleport shenanigans are gone… I actually feel more comfortable with Thor against this because of Thor’s cr. M can stuff Magnetos tri jump bullshit if timed right and he obviously has more health to be a punching bag.

mighty strike, most of the dive kick spamming wolverines ive faced super jump, so you can usually charge up a mighty strike without them seeing it and start a combo off it, but even an uncharged MS beats out his dive kick easily.

In general, and against pixies in particular, Thor players need to realize that Thor’s normals are not his bread-and-butter attacks–his specials are. Mighty Strike/Smash, timed well, will beat out almost any pokes most pixies can toss at you, and they’re also good for moving him around the screen, and most of the time they can hit-confirm into combos. Mighty Spark is GREAT for stuffing assists; even an :l: Spark will go through all of Sent’s drones and hit both Sent and the point character. And if you mix up which strengths you use, you can screw up people rushing down while their assist covers them, since the :m: and :h: versions look the same at startup, but will still be coming out as they come down from trying to jump what they think will be the :l: version (and you’ll still hit the assist). Finally, if your normal string DOES get blocked, you can keep yourself safe by canceling into an :l: Spark.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it: Thor is different from most characters in that his pokes and combo-starters are his SPECIALS, while his normals are for combos once you’ve already opened the opponent up.

I use Iron Man’s repulsar blast assist for any dive character trying to jump in overhead. You have to anticipate them jumping in… which isn’t hard because that’s all most of those players do.

The assist stays out for a bit, so if you activate it when they’re halfway near you it will catch them. It will juggle them… and if you do a M mighty smash in the middle of it you can start your standard Thor combo. Even if they block it will keep them airborne for a bit giving you time to set something up.

As for Ammy pressuring low. I use the diving elbow, or super jump overhead to give me time to pull off a H or M Mighty Strike.

REMEMBER: If you come out with the Iron Man assist too early you can both get caught. So be careful.

I’m considering dropping Wesker, at least temporarily from my team…just need a fresh look for the time being. I probably will go back to him in time, but for now, I need a new point.

Is it just me or do you all have problems with people quitting on you whenever you land a Huge combo? Seems like I fish and fish and fish for an opening and the second I rip someones cheap ass Dante, Akuma, Zero or Storm a new one they ALWAYS frikin quit I mean ALWAYS… Sorry Rant off.
