Thanks guys hope you enjoy the set. We actually had played a few games earlier which I didn’t record and were probably better matches from a Thor perspective lol. We had some nice Mid-Screen/Corner resets in those. Oh well maybe next time.
But yea if anyone here wants to get a Youtube set in for the sake of the Thor thread just let me know and we can set something up. I am only on XBox and from Seattle so we could swap GT’s and test out our connection (because it would be waster to record matches with horrible lag).
Yea man this isn’t anything advanced at all. The goal was to get new Thor players who don’t really have any sort idea of how to use them kind of an idea what things they can do.
No, no, totally not a criticism. I think it’s actually really helpful to see where real players are as the game develops. Combo vids and tourney coverage of the pros is nice and all, but neither one is that helpful, since the combo vids are pre-arranged, and most of the pros don’t have the balls to go out on a limb and try to figure stuff out for a character like Thor. Kudos to you guys for doing it.
I have some time tomorrow morning ish around 10 (Pacific Time) if someone wants to get some Youtube matches in. Post here or send me a message to my XBL name NissanZaxima if you want to play.
So… back to an old topic, I presume fully charged H mighty smash after the end of an aerial series is simply a matter of timing the air series right (ie, delaying that last S until the last moment and instantly inputting the might smash command). Are people using this in matches? It seems so tight that it wouldn’t be worth the risk. At least for now because I’m rubbish at it!
Also, are people having much luck with relaunches after OTG assists? Hit stun decay seems to hit Thor so hard because of how slow his normals are. For example, I really want this to work (or a variation of it)
But they always fall out in the middle of the second air combo. I’m thinking of just going for a j:l: after the relaunch and going to a reset Mighty Hurricane… thoughts?
After an otg assist you wont get a full jump chain. You can sometimes depending on your before combo get a rejump to jump.h might strike mighty tornado. But your best bet for damage is the combo I posted earlier, which should work with any otg assist that doesnt’ cause wallbounce.
mighty hurricane, S, MMHS, call otg assist jump rdp+l (full charge) M mighty smash, H Mighty Smash, or M Mighty Smash, M mighty smash, cancel first hit to super ASAP. Midscreen the combo works execpt after the M mighty smash the only way to get super is to cancel second hit into dp+AA super.
As for the full charge mighty smash you basically just have to really delay the S after the H, and start your airchain slightly later than normal, it just takes some practice. Its really hard on Ammy and Joe but on the rest of the cast the timings are similar.
Hey guys! I was wondering if you could check out this vid for me. I am trying something out by sticking a random VG music clip in with my matches now… because I know it can be annoying to listen to button smash and random commentary sometimes (especially mine when I get mad at myself).
I want to start doing more Thor matches with people on this board and adding VG music people liked to the matches to make them a little more enjoyable. Ignore the gameplay… the dude I played was garbage and it was pretty laggy so nothing spectacular there haha. Thanks guys.
“insert ground combo”, :s:launcher > air series > Hulk Gamma Wave assist, jump (full charge) a.:l:Stike, .smash, :s:, a.:h:,a.:s: (exchange) > Hulk air series(hold after :s:), land otg Gamma Wave xx Gamma Crush.
Does 800 -1.08 mil depending on what you do before the 1st :s: and whether you get full air series combos. If you use smash early in the combo you can’t use it after the :l:strike, go straight to :s:, this will mean that Hulk won’t tag in, but your third character will and depending on who that is you can still otg to hyper combo (Sent, Dorm, ect).
It’s a corner combo but you can start far from the corner. Just as long as the GW assist puts them in the corner with it’s first hit a.:l:strike will hit and leave you in range for smash. Out of the corner I think it might still be possible but the 1st air series has to finish as low as possible and the a:l:strike has to be tiger knee’d or done as soon as you jump.
If you DHC after the Gamma Crush you can get 1.1 - 1.2 mil damage.
Indeed, Thor’s BnB’s that end in Mighty Tornado are an easy DHC into Hulk’s Gamma Crush for rediculous damage.
Good luck at the tournament. Remember to use those Mighty Strikes, and buffer them into L.Mighty Hurricane if blocked. Give people a taste of what they’ve been ignoring
Something to play with re: Thor/Spencer:
The timing’s a little tricky, but if you’re grounded or in normal jump and you do something to reset your opponent (otg Mighty Smash, air Mighty Strike/Spark, etc.), you can call Spencer’s diagonal grapple assist and the opponent (provided they’re not blocking) will get pulled right to Thor in a standing position with frame disadvantage.
No idea if this is already known or not but I was messing around in training mode and discovered that you can combo into DHC mighty punish under certain circumstances.
For instance with doom if you j.f.h > air dash forward > delayed air photon array > instant dhc mighty punish, it will combo from the first projectile wave of photon for +100k or so.
Punish connects on block too so there could be a decent set up there with a bit of lab work.
Yeah after a bit more work it turns out that you get more damage by letting the photon array finish and DHCing into tornado. The height at which you need to execute it for blocking targets is different too so doesn’t look like there is any setup there beyond a standard DHC mighty punish swap in.
Still, it does demonstrate that it’s possible to combo into the throw. There may be more worthwhile methods of comboing into it awaiting discovery.
Yea I just can’t think of a situation of wasting 2 meters to set it up. Especially when you could just DHC into Mighty Thunder/Tornado for equivalent damage.
When you put it like that perhaps double DHCs combos would be one consideration. Punish only has 2 hits as opposed to hurricane’s 15 which provides much better damage scaling.
