Well whatever. Rain on my parade all you want. It made me happy to watch. He even makes Thor’s air dash look fast in those later fights.
I played Thor last night at Best Buy. I had a blast, he was so fun. I have been nervous for a long time that he wouldn’t pan out well (since he wasn’t looking so hot in the earlier builds) but he turned out to be a good character.
Here’s a compilation of three matches with Buktooth playing Thor. I think they’re fun to watch, and they have some good ideas in them. Especially check out some of the rushdown in the third match.

DAMN. Wrecking shit.
bronzefist you have to empty your pm box
doh i did dude thx.
Hulk is an exception: there is no upward limit on the Hulk’s strength, if you make him angry enough he can be stronger than anything in the Marvel Universe but the Hulk has plenty of weaknesses, Bruce banner is vulnerable and the hulk doesn’t have access to higher thinking so is easily tricked.
Thor is incredibly strong and powerful (flyling lightning etc) and a capable thinker (not the smartest but not easily duped like the hulk) + he is not vulnerable at any time (unless you can jump Donald Blake very quickly.) Non mystical beings can’t compete with him in general; almost all mutants and criminals (the mainstay of Marvel villains) that populate the Marvel universe stand 0 chance against Thor. So his opponents are as a rule, difficult to relate to because they are trans dimensional beings. Its difficult to base a kids cartoon around that sort of thing.
When more mortal characters oppose him for any length of time it is almost always through trickery (like Dr Doom) Which is fine every now and again, but does not make a whole TV series or whatever.
Thor has beaten Juggernaut a number of times in a straight fight and Juggernaut is up there in the power stakes.
I got to play for the 1st time last night. Tried wavedashing and Thor’s is slow enough to get the overhead, but it’s discouraging when they can just jab you out of the actual dash. On the positive side, I was able to use the wave dash (at a lower height) just for a crossup (I had Sentinel’s drones behind me). Creates some confusion, maybe a good set up for his command throw. I was running Thor/Doom/Sentinel. I think I’ll have to get used to using Thor’s taunt. I lost to V.Joe/Dormammu/Ryu because of Boomerang spam from Joe. If Doom’s rocks or the drones can cancel out moves like that, I may just build meter for Doom and just spam supers back. Just a thought, not like most people there really know what they’re doing (self included), lol.
Uh…do you know what a Wavedash is?
Played Thor for the last few days, and in the right hands (at least at this point), he’s a monster. The fact he gets a massive combo off of his command grab (I know it’s half circle forward to back, forgot the name) REALLY helps him. The game overall is slower so I think that helps. This char is A LOT of fun, those who haven’t played him yet won’t be dissapointed
I think you mean tri-dashing not wavedashing.
Being A Huge Fan Of Brawlers/Grapplers
i am really looking forward to playing as the god of thunder himself in just one day!
somebody on my friends list who already has the game told me he’s too slow and sucks
but he probably never even played thor or gave him a fair chance to show his stuff
also why does he get almost no respect
it seems now a days if he’s not the main star
he’s just playing second banana to someone or sitting in the backseat(For Example Hulk Vs Thor where Hulk Just demolishes asgard without much trouble)
i know he appears on the avengers( that’s currently on hiatus)but even in that show he doesn’t get much of a break
it’s like any villain(excluding the pitiful low rank villains like Mandrill) can give him a hard time and put him down for awhile
i get i get it they had to weaken characters to make them more realistic…but he’s a god!!!
gods don’t get manhandled by time traveling weirdos or a giant floating head(I Kinda Like M.O.D.O.K. In MVC3 but even i know him against thor is so unfair)
Damn! I was thinking Haggar will be my main Grappler, but it’s looking more and more like Thor here.
So how does Thor fare against the dreaded sentinel? Can sent duck his projectile?

Thor can normal cancel his air dash to land and immediately command grab… this also helps his overall mobility
That was supposed to be tri-dash. Sorry about that.
fucking awesome. I was already think about using this as a tri dash mixup, but it looks even better than I expected! can’t wait to get the game later!!!
Oyi --; well. I’m getting pretty damn good at chaining Mighty Strike H into Mighty Strike M and following that into an exchange and yada yada yada. But what I REALLY wanna learn is to Kara those crouching heavies into Whirlwinds. Can anyone give me any tips? It is seriously kicking my ass >< I can maybe cancel the crouching heavy 1/2 way through into a light Whirlwind… but anymore than that and I fail -_-; tips?
Does thor have an anti air assist?
I need somebody for my chris/wesker team
Hsien Ko is top spot right now, but thor’s got some interesting stuff I’d like to try out, and if he has an anti air assist he’ll fit in the team perfectly.
Mighty Strike is about as anti-air as Thor is going to get. It’s not terrible, but when you can have Mighty Smash that’s Mighty Strike w/ a second attack that OTG’s (all of this from what I’ve observed) it becomes a tragic waste to have anything BUT. However if you can’t integrate it into your combos or just keep getting punished too much for using it, then you could use Strike. And forget Spark, Thor’s out way too long for it to be worth the risk IMO.
