Favourite of the SF4/SSF4/AE series new characters

Rufus, by far the best addition to the game, I also like Seth.

I voted Juri. She’s honestly my favourite character in a long time. I like the character design, the voice, the moveset, the story, and most of the attitude. I think they go a bit overboard with the whole sex kitten thing, but she’s pretty great.

Abel is the other SF4 addition that I sincerely hope makes his way into everything in the franchise from here on out. I like the design, story, and the way he plays (although I’m complete trash with him). I love that they made him a Sambo character, it’s such an interesting style.

Rufus annoys me. Fuerte is funny but annoys me.

I don’t really care for Viper’s design, character or story but I like her moveset a lot.

Seth is…this is finished design? Man they didn’t work hard enough on him.

Gouken and Oni…Hulked out shotos? Why? Cool characters but did they have to look so ridiculous?

Hakan is great. Really unique. Not that interested in him but what a risk they took with him.

I was going to write what i thought… But it seems you wrote It for me.

Kudos sir

All this fuerte hate is depressing. I like his design over sinister glowy-eyed taekwondo(lol pinwheels) sadistic lesbo goth chick. It’s like they took a female TKD concept and slapped a bunch of ideas together to make her interesting, and it worked.

I voted for Abel cause he reminds me of Alex. It was another brilliant attempt from Capcom taking elements of past characters and putting them into new ones. They did the same with Seth and Rufus. Problem with Rufus is, Capcom went and put in the Twins, where most of his moves/animations are inspired from, and now Rufus’s design is irrelevant as most people prefer Yun/Yang over him. That was pretty dumb as there’s nothing wrong with Rufus’s design; anyone who’s seen Beverly Hills Ninja or watched other movies/videos of fat people trying to do kung-fu would get it. He’s unlike any American SF character (hell, even SF character period) in the series. He also added a size dynamic to the game that no current or past SF character could bring; fatter than Honda, yet not as big as Gief.

Viper and Elf could have been done better. I don’t understand why Capcom was making a high-execution-demanding character in a game with a low execution barrier; why are you trying to have it both ways? People hate Elf but his mechanics are similar to Guy and no one hates him (even though he has no place in the game). It doesn’t take much to make them play similar to traditional SF characters.

I respect Seth as a boss design, so when they nerfed his tools, buff his health, and buff his damage output, they basically made him a better shoto, kinda like Akuma but taller and with a different toolset. His vast collection of altered versions of other character moves are what made him unique, so when they changed him, they ruined his design. He’s not a glass cannon anymore; more like a plastic one.

Gouken is another case of a ruined boss design. When I faced him for the first time, I thought I was gonna get my shit rerouted. Years of rumors and speculation on his appearances in various SF games, and this is what they do to him? He’s a pushover in this game. He doesn’t strike fear into anyone (contrary to his cult following) and he comes off as a japanese roided up santa claus. Oni is another character that should have been better than he is. The flaw in their designs is that their fear effect is not present at all in the game, and so they come off as cornballs, much like Bison did in the Alpha games.

Hakan seems like a character that could have taken the place of Honda in a new SF game. He has similar normals to Honda, including his ST standing sweep. As a character, he brings something new to the formula, but as a design, he’s makes Dan look like a serious character. He fits right in with his pupil-less eyes though; don’t understand how so many SF characters don’t have pupils.

I don’t hate Juri; I just think her design is overrated. Like I said before, they seem to have thrown various stuff together to make her interesting, and she’s comes off as a woman who’d be more incline to wear one of her alternate costumes instead of her default one. She doesn’t strike me as a character that would take up TKD.

I think Seth’s design is fucking great. His attitude is awesome as are both his VA’s.

When he uses his tanden sucker move, he strikes the come at me pose and laughs in your face. “Fuck you”, he seems to say. “I will hyperspeed kick your shit”.

I like Viper in terms of everything except the knockdown guessing game stuff. Her actual moves are interesting, her design of course brings memories of one of my favorite beat em up / marvel characters, Captain Commando.

Juri has great gameplay design with interesting normals and specials and mechanics used for them. However I can’t stand her voice in english and it’s not much better in japanese.

Abel, other than the corpse hopping with roll, has gameplay that feels like a great mesh between SF2 and SF3 which is very cool given that SF4 also takes place between the two. His personality however is pretty much non-existent though his story is kind of interesting.

Gouken shows how there is no excuse for the lack of evolution in terms of Evil Ryu and Akuma. He still feels like a shoto but his moves work TOTALLY differently instead of just “a little” different. There is a ton of room for uniqueness with the shoto theme that Akuma, Ken, Ryu, Evil Ryu, and to the least extent: Sakura have not really shown (Sakura is probably the 2nd most unique in terms of how the move mechanics work.)

Rufus is cool as a character design but his gameplay feels a bit weak. He comes off too much as “the forgotten fat Lee brother”

I would go with hakan because watching his ultra’s are hilarious plus his wife is hot
and I like c.viper as well it’s just her hair design for some odd reason i dont like it.

All the Elf hate sounds like a personal problem rather than a character design issue. Get better and stop the flow of salt.

I love Gouken, hes the reason I even considered giving SF4 a shot. While he has his issues, he s a blast to play with. I think C.Viper and Juri have excellent designs. Able, Hakan, and Elf are good, welcomed additions to the SF universe. Oni is good as well.

Seth is the worst boss design Ive ever seen.

Juri hands down. Gouken and Viper r ok but everyone else is a waste of space

Why

Note:

Not surprised at Juri being top, so many people try to play her because of her look. I voted able, least favourite is hakan based on character design/potential.

I dont like/play SFIV, but the ONLY thing from SFIV I wouldnt mind seeing outside of SFIV would be Juri.

Abel: While the visual design doesn’t stand out, it is decent…he looks like a hard nosed brawler. His gameplay style is pretty awesome a hybrid of rekka and grappling, coupled with his rolls.

C Viper: The shades are pretty cool, seismic hammer is unique, burn kicks are cool. Very technical character, and certainly one of the standouts of the newcomers.

El Fuerte: Don’t understand why people dislike him. He wasn’t created for you…he was created for young kids. He’s a little guy who flies and sprints all over the screen with flashy moves, kids love him.

Gouken: Wow…talk about anticipated, the legendary instructor of Ken and Ryu. Someone people have talked about since SF2. Very creative twist on the shoto…his throws into combos as well as his parry moves, fireballs in two directions, and his wildly different hurricane kick. One of the most creatively designed of the shotos.

Hakan: The oil, grabs, squirts…all rather perverse and he is a complete clown character. He does play differently than any other character though.

Juri: My vote goes to her. The stored projectiles, parry moves, dive kicks, first female villain, first kick based character, and of course the feng shui engine.

Oni: Akuma losing himself completely to the dark hadou. Considering how powerful Akuma is in this game and others it is a bit disappointing and rather baffling to see this character be so weak. The slashes, and smashes, as well as bevy of command normals make this a very different shoto.

Rufus: A fat waste of a character slot.

Seth: Male nudity isn’t my thing.

It just seems lazy. Lets copy Gills overall design, copy and paste everyones moves. Oh lets throw the ying and yang sign in there for fun!!!

It just screams lazy to me.

i voted juri coz doing a fse combo + comeback is THE most fun thing you can do in this game.
pure adrenaline rush!
second hakan coz he’s just really really fun to play.
plus that oiled up focus attack is troll god mode
gouken coz he’s shoto that isn’t a clone of the other shotos which actually make him interesting.
honorable mention goes to elf…just coz i love doing flying gigabuster. i also like starting off a round immediately with his “viva mexico” taunt when i face off against mexicans online.

they just ripped off jhun hoon from kof when it comes to that stance.
but i think jhun is 1000x better than juri in every way. commands, movement, design, etc.

hes just ripped off from tizoc from kof. his flyin gigabuster is just like a command grab tizoc has.
