It’s an unpopular opinion, but IMO Morrigan/Doom makes watching Marvel more bearable. Instead of pixieing in for a random confirm into combo, people actually got to play fundamentally good.
Actually, any of the people who play lame and/or patient (Champ, Chris, JWong, etc.) make the game more exciting to watch.
I’ve eaten quite a few, and the only thought that goes through my mind is “why aren’t I using those character?” (at least until I remember that my execution sucks and that I end up dropping their shit).
d3v. I can definitely see that. A lot of people can’t stand lame play but it’s good for fighters. Without that lameness the game would dissolve into brainless rushdown. Projectiles add another dimension to the fight that forces people to slow down and think more.
Rufus and Yun are a bit annoying to me, but Rufus gets kind of a pass since I like him as a character, just not fighting him. Yun however, I don’t like him with his attitude and jump punch and his divekick crap and his HOPE YOU LIKE DICKS
You need to play the first two Darkstalkers. She’s top tier in 1 (albeit still below Sasquatch) and upper mid in 2. Supposedly she’s also good in Hunter 2 and Savior 2, but it’s better to pretend those games don’t exist.
I really didn’t get a chance to play those games when they were 1st out, but I’m sad to say, Savior has ruined those games for me. EVERY Capcom fighter that came before Savior (except a lil ST) is unplayable. They are all too damn slow, cheesy, or just plain stupid, imo.
Now if those games were more like ST and SamSho I&II, I might be able to enjoy them.
I hate Akuma, Evil Ryu, Oni, Juri, Karin, Ingrid and Sakura purely because of the fanbase they attract.
Akuma is the worst thing to happen to Street Fighter.
Oh yeah, and Dan, fuck that guy too.
I’m pretty sure Iori is partially responsible for the huge influx of emo culture in Mexico and he’s still guilty of less abominations than that list above. I’d buy Iori a second pair of bondage pants just so he could use them to strangle that entire lot.
I hate Blanka. Then again, I mostly play online SF4, so that’s probably why. Blanka is dumb, the people who play him online are dumb, the people who made him are dumb.
Disclaimer: I don’t think the people who play him or made him are dumb, it just seems that way online.
As for people that I like, for some reason Elena stands out. I played her a little bit in 3s (Arcade mode on MAME) cause Ultra isn’t out on PC, and she really clicks with my playstyle, plus Capoeira was always one of my favorite martial arts (To watch, not flexible enough atm to pull any of it off.)
Hate him or love’em. But I think he’s a pretty interesting character in both design and lore. Only thing is like most of the world warrior crew they haven’t changed a bit. Would’ve been cool and funny to see a Blanka that attempts to re-enter society and be civil but struggles.
Man my lists, they are too long, I don’t have any absolute favorites.
Favorites: Q, Craig Marduk, Taskmaster, Balrog, Dudley, True Ogre, Heihachi/Kuma(Tekken series and in SFxT), Grundy, Zang, T.Hawk, Shang Tsung, Doomsday, Dan, and Double.
Least Favorites: Jin, Kazuya, Eddie Gordo, Christie, Ryu, Evil Ryu, Oni, Ibuki, Blanka, Vergil, Zero, Hawkeye, Dante, Wesker, Deathstroke, and Superman.
My in-between list is too big.
Fei Long, Alt 3, Color 10 holds a special place in my heart because it just feels too damn good kicking people’s asses as Bruce Lee in a suit.
But it would’ve been cool to see that expressed through the character in win quotes, idle animation. walk animation etc. I.E. He’ll stand up straight in idle but when walking he’ll walk like a savage because he’s still not use to walking like a normal person. Or a win quote such as “I tried wearing shoes like everyone else but they don’t feel good”
