Favorite/Most Hated Characters in Fighting Games

I use mainly Karin and R.Mika in SFA3. For the rest I prefer playing SFA2.
their play styles are very interesting and fun. I also like Sodom, though I dont use him that much.
While Zangief supposedly is better than Mika, I find him so boring to use.

Dang…

Don’t get me wrong, I love the rest of the roster that isn’t a shoto, but Remy just feels pointless. Like a blatant “Fuck you” to everyone who wanted to play Guile or Charlie in SF3.

To be fair, Honda seems like the rest of the World Warriors overshadow him pretty hard. Not that he’s bad, but it seems like he gets forgotten easily.

People who favor Charlie over Guile do deserve to hear that, though. What a stupid design. Hair, glasses, shoes, clothes, voice, everything. Remy looks 5 times better than Charlie, and that comes from someone who despises KoF as much as humanly possible.

I’ll take the current Charlie - and I think his hair and clothes are awesome, especially the blue pants w/ white vest…

Over this

I like the Live Action Street Fighter version of Charlie myself.

Dammit Louis, we were going to pretend that never happened.

Using the Live Action movie in a discussion about representation of any character should be a bannable offense.

Better than the Shungokusatsu

Sawada damages you by commiting Seppuku, Q damages you by blowing himself up. Sawada is secretly Q?

you know how easy it is to win with 3rd strike chun over any mid tier character?

Who cares.

well thats one of the reasons I stopped playing 3rd strike after seeing how many chuns and yuns win tournaments

If you’re looking for character diversity, then maybe competitive fighting games aren’t for you.

apparently really hard since the only Chun I’ve lost consistently to on XBL is Dr Sub Zero. yes it’s XBL so the competition is weak compared to a strong offline scene. on the other hand there are about 20 Chun players on XBL who can’t seem take a round off any of my characters with this supposedly easy character.

every character can be beaten. we all know Chun is strong, but the scrub talk about how “easy it is to win” or the classic “just hit low forward and back fierce and collect your win” should stay on Youtube.

tournaments result wise, ive seen more diversity results from AE and ST, think thats why I liked those games more. Even CvS2 back in the day

AE is balanced because every character is, for the most part mediocre.

its just my opinion man, I dont hate 3rd strike I just prefer to play other fighters

it’s fine to have whatever opinion you want. but you expressed it here and I thought it deserved a response. there’s a big gap between “there are a lot of strong Chun players and she wins tournaments often” and “Chun is easy to use and win with.” I don’t believe any character in that game is easy to win with.

FWIW Dr Sub Zero destroys me far worse with his Urien than he does with his Chun. against his Chun I can keep my head above water and do okay. I don’t quite go 50/50 against him but it’s not free. against his Urien, man I get blown up.

based on our matches I’m pretty sure he knows all about fierce, low forward, and kara throw. yet he’s still better with Urien!

no game is that simple. if the other guy is better than you he’s going to show it one way or another.

im not saying shes easy to win with, my point was its easier to win with her over a lot of the cast, its funny to cause most of the people who like 3rd strike are chun and yun players, and some ken players. Im sure some people like 3rd strike and use mid tiers, but most of the people like 3rd strike pick chun, yun and ken. I did like using Q but he has a very hard time beating chun and yun. Its easy to call people scrubs when you use 1 of the best characters in the game.

I play some chun ken makoto elena and ryu. I dabble in alex and yang but can’t say I’m any good at them.

of course the game is known as pretty unbalanced but everyone has known that a long time.

I think Chun is good but overstatedly good. I’ve blown up too many Chun players who play Justin Wong-lite style (turtle and back fierce/low forward all day) to believe she’s a lopsidedly amazing character. I think she has some very strong tools but she doesn’t become truly scary until the player can kara throw and confirm all her money pokes into super (low forward back fierce stand roundhouse). then they have to show they can apply all those and put them together in a way that’s difficult to deal with. easier said than done. but that’s true of any character in the game of course. winning is a direct result of game knowledge and if you can apply your character’s tools well. obviously though as you get to the tip top of competition Chun remains very strong. she’s a permanent fixture on tournament top 8s and three of the five strongest Japanese players are Chun players. though those players have sick side characters too. Nuki and MOV have killer Kens, Rikimaru has a very strong Urien. they’re just strong players in general as you would expect.

in any case, I think she’s as pleasant a top tier as you can ask for. everyone know her pokes are amazing but that means she has to beat you with her pokes. if you have better footsies than the Chun player you can neuter her completely. her jumping game is pretty bad so she has to beat you on the ground.

compare to top tiers in other Capcom games. Claw in ST, A groove Bison/Blanka/Sakura teams in CVS2, Seth in SSF4 to list some examples. I’d much rather play against 3s Chun. I wake up to Vega wall dive noises in my sleep, in terror.
