Most of these favorites threads tend to attract skimming more than reading, so I’ll just focus on my favorite characters to PLAY:
KOF '98 Ralf. Good mobility, nasty C attacks, money command throw, requires minimal meter and minimal dexterity to play. He’s simple, he’s stupid, and above all he’s lovable. He chugs a beer in one go before putting on his do-rag and kicking your ass, roars like a goddamn dinosaur, and when he punches people, his hands explode. Probably my favorite fighting game character of all time.
KOF '98 Mai. The master (mistress?) of air-to-air and very adept at harassment. Chuck fans, air-throw bad jumps, run away with charge d, u + P, prod people with standing A and B, and watch her pop a huge kimono out of nowhere when she wins. (Probably secreted by the same gland that produces her fans, or perhaps she simply has a lease with Reed Richards to store them in the Negative Zone.) My favorite battery by a long shot. Also, boobs and ass.
SF4 Bison. This guy is fucking slick. Swish around safely with Devil Reverse, good crossups, easy links, shittons of escape options (teleport, EX Head Press, EX Devil Reverse, EX Psycho Crusher), and an Ultra that’s pimp even if it’s hard to set up. And to top it all off, it’s fucking Bison, the master of evil, the drug lord/weapons dealer/etc. with the power of flight and a monstrous shiteating grin. Goddamn, I love Bison.
3S Hugo. He’s big and he’s slow and when he lands from a jump, the fucking ground shakes. He’s not one for hit-confirm into death, but his pokes tend to smart, and when he parries your shit in throw range, magic happens. Gotta love that dance when he wins.
3S Urien. I only wish I could play as this guy, but I’ll be glad to live vicariously through RX. Good dash for throw/partitioned headbutt shenanigans, sexy juggles, and one of the most versatile supers ever created. Through Aegis, all things are possible. Also, awesome win quotes.
