Site lost favicon during the previous site update…god how long ago was that, replaced with the default VB favicon.
Can we please get a site and forum favicon up for this site!!!
There used to be an awesome “SRK” orange blue silver logo ico floating around.
Without it its like a ferari with plastic spinner rims… it just aint right.
Must have been a long time ago. The only one I can find on archive.org is pretty bad.

Yeah that ones old, i think there was at least 1 more after that, thats still better than vb or none at all.

I fooled around for a minute (mind you Im no artist) and came up with this (transparent background so R is in black and will not show if your using the srk forum black theme) feel free to use it SRK or improve upon it…just fix it plz we needz favicon!!! doesnt look as good full size but is passable when viewed as favicon in browser.

if using dark theme just switch to light one to see the favicon as intended…

Now we just need to get sum1 high enough in srk admin to see/take on the cause.
I like the dp icon too, while the others are good they are just too small imo and so the SRK brand is less readable and brand recognition is somewhat lost.
Maybe SRK could run a week long contest (post of front page) for submissions, then admins run poll where users vote top 3, then admin selects from top 3 for new icon. just a suggestion.
Personally, I’m a fan of the simplicity of Street Fighter IV’s input icons. Just throwing it out there.

I would make a suggestion to replace black with blue, (or black w/ red and red w/ blue) as white and black r 2 most common browser background colors you can maintain transparency in icon and not have color loss when on same background.
favicon has specific conventions, it must be named “favicon.ico” and it must be 16x16 pixels(some browsers support larger but then you get compatibility issues)
it needs to be placed in the root folder main.php index.html etc for main site and depending on site structure may need to be copied into root main folder for forums also
if the png meets the 16x16 pixel restriction renaming favicon.ico should be sufficient
i put it in the root, and the forum root, and i cant see it come up
Holy crap, a custom favicon! It would be great if every site had these. It’s definitely there and visible. The only reason I even came to this thread was because I noticed the favicon.
the z png he used does not meet the requirements i posted right after yours wiz, i favin-zed it, give me a minute to get it u/l’d to a place I can host for u to d/l

just remove the (1) in name, also note sometimes u have to clear cache to get it to show up b/c browser caches old favicon
tried my color suggestions and the sucked so instead of keeping transparency I just added white background, if your not happy with it as is feel free to modify it by going to www.favicon.cc where you can upload an image and it will try to make it 16x16, which usually produces shitty results but it has an editor to let you create pixel by pixel (its only 16x16 not alot to work with) it shows you what it will look like in the browser then you can d/l it to your computer when satisfied, since the one i just posted is already 16x16 it will match pixel perfect when imported but actually looks weird in the editor until you compare it to the browser preview at the bottom of the page.
well u got mine/or another up fine cuz its showing in both forum and main page in chrome, just have to readd existing bookmarks to pick up new favicon FTW! thx wiz!!!
I think I finally got the transparency to work with an ICO file, try this.
You don’t want to use transparency with this icon! the z will become invisible on black backgrounds, change your forum theme to dark and look at the icon top see why out doesn’t work…if you don’t use black or white exterior colors then transparency works better, I made this icon with alternate colors to leverage transparency but it lost alot not maintaining the current color scheme.
Btw if u use the site I posted above, using transparency is trivial.
To rashly make this icon better…get an artist guy to change some shades if the ball pixels darker red on one side and lighter red on the other to simulate light reflecting of the ball and using gray in certain ways on the z can improve that too but thats beyond my ability to do it well… Our just leave the one he put up, I’ve tested it in chrome 11, fire fox 4 with dark themes and in ie9 with light theme and it works well.
Not sure why you redrew it. It’s back to looking like it came from MSPaint. Download The GIMP so you can edit it directly.
I outlined the Z so we could keep the transparent background. I tried playing around with the lighting like you mentioned. I think it detracts from the simplicity of it.
