Hi, when is the FDC usefull and after what it works? I never used that but I read it’s possible.
It’s just like it sounds. You FD in the middle of a move and it cancels it. I really don’t know much else about it, other than you can use it to make I-no float in the air with her j.D by doing it repeatedly to that move, and was pretty game-breaking in GGX.
Well, saying you FD in the middle isn’t a good description 'cause you can’t do that to begin with. It’s actually right on startup, like j.D~b+S+HS. Off the top of my head none of the FDC’s in XX/#R actually work after the hit frames so you can’t use them in combos, but they still offer some good mobility options.
Just try this. Pick Faust in training mode and jump AT your opponent and hit down+back and kick. It’ll do his Dhalsimish dive move. Now do it again but hit punch and kick when you do it, but roll your thumb(if on a pad) or fingers(on a stick) over the kick ever so slightly first. If you do this right you will jump at your oponent, then suddenly stop (losing your forward and upwards momentum) and be able to attack. The basic idea is that when Faust does his drill, he stops moving, and then does it but for some reason you can cancle it with a faultless. After that you are free to do whatever overhead you want (HS or Kick depending on who they are and how fast you did the FDC), or land and command throw them because you are so close to the ground and didn’t cross them up but they are blocking because they ph33r your overhead.
Thats just one of many, but its the only one I know, and is probably one of the most usefull ones.
So it doesn’t let you get into active frames ? When does the cancel actually happens and how much time do you have to input it?
It could be used to get frame advantage like a mist cancel if it’s true.
Suppose you dash in 5h with so and go into a FDC 2h. That would own.
That’s how it worked in GGX. In XX since you cancel before the active frames you don’t get frame advantage because you aren’t hitting your opponent. Like Kouga said, FDC is mostly used for mobility since it changes your momentum depending on the move you canceled - Faust drops like a stone, I-no climbs the stairway to heaven.
Johnny can FDC 2H to slide backwards, it’s stupid and useless but funny… (in one of RedBeard’s vids if you need a visual)
FDC is useful as a throw option select thing as well. If you’re trying to throw and don’t need to throw your opponent forward, just do 4H~S. If you’re close enough to throw, you’ll throw, otherwise you FDC your 5H and you’re fairly safe.
Good for airthrows as well.
haha, cool. I knew about option selection though. Johnny’s back dash could be usefull in footsie tho.
