This is a complicated case.

Even though the daughter did invite the boy in, she is a minor and it is not her property. Legally speaking you could probably argue for trespassing.

And while yes, the girl’s lie did influence her father’s perception of the situation, she’s ultimately not the one who pulled the trigger. If someone told you a lie and it led to you killing someone else you’re still responsible for your actions.

The kid could have been in the hyperbolic time chamber and it still would be trespassing according to Texas law.

In a situation like that, you fucking stay for the cops to show up. She knows your name. She already lied. You’re in it deep. You need to be there to make your statement.

You’re probably going to jail. But, it better to go to jail that way than to be hunted down for god knows what, with the cops showing up at your door all of a sudden the next day talking about some rape charges.

Considering the girl said she didn’t know him it’s likely any arguments that ensued came out of the accusation she just made…in short were blaming the source of this murder on the person who set it in motion.

Welp. Girl gets caught, lies, boy tries to plead his case, girl keeps lying, father calls cops, boy gets scared out of his fucking mind and does something dumb, father (not in the right frame of mind, no thanks to all the lying going on) gets gun, boy gets even more scared and made too many sudden movements, father pulled trigger.

Was it said how tall and how big the boy was compared to the father? If the father was bigger he could have settled for simply whooping the guy’s ass, but everyone relies on guns now and it instills you with a sense of false confidence, except the consequences are infinitely more permanent than potential broken bones. In any case, As much as I feel bad for the father being manipulated like that blame needs to be assessed for all parties. Still, the girl escalated the situation by lying in the first place and the situation snowballed. Had she not lied I’m fairly certain the father would have just told the boy to get the fuck up out his house and that would have been the end of that.

And if the boy DID have a knife on him, let’s see how well the father fares without his gun.

Not really complicated, it’s Texas. Stranger in daughter’s bedroom = suspected rape, which is grounds for deadly force under Texas law.

It is both the daughter’s and the boy’s fault. The daughter made two mistakes, brought him in the house behind her father’s back and then lied about not knowing him. The boy made two mistakes, chose to trespass and then not calmly present the situation to the father. The boy’s parents are also at fault for raising such a failure of a son, further exposing their own stupidity with comments like “I would like my baby back.”

I heard that story many times. You forgot the part where whichever boys she mentions are thrown in jail and demonized in the media. Then, if there is ever evidence that they are innocent, the media never apologizes and the girl never receives any punishment.

Rape card is so OP. Sexual harassment claim is another card that women have at their disposal to throw men under the bus. Want a promotion without doing any work but a man who does all the work is holding that position? Claim sexual harassment and get him fired.
