I think he went about it the right way. He showed that actions have consequences.
What she did: Acted like a brat and disrespected her parents using her laptop in front of her friends on Facebook.
What she got: Her attitude exposed and a few rounds put in her laptop in front of the whole world.
Lesson on cause and effect = LEARNED.

I applaud him for his actions.It takes guts for a dad to show tough love to his kid especially his daughter .She earned every right to get her property destroyed after slandering him like that and embarrassing him on the Internet.
Filtering reigns until there is a complaint or something comes up in an audit or some shit. No one wants to deal with shit like this, so the net is pretty much wide open for most people who have evolved a single brain cell in excess over the average user.
That said, I still wouldn’t be messing around with anything at work that would get you in trouble. One of my workmates had a vengeful ex call our boss and tell him that dude didn’t do anything but surf the web all day. My boss (a beastly fellow) knew she was crazy, but had to do something anyway, so he had an audit done. It was pretty much true.

I find shooting the laptop to be stupid and wasteful, yes make a video and post it up whatever, give the bloody thing away or sell it, but come on, there is no need to destroy perfectly good property like that, it’s just a waste.

Who the fuck cares if she shot the fucking laptop and destroyed it? He wanted to remove it from his daughter’s hands, and shooting it, not selling it, had the most impact. It shows that he’s fucking serious about her not being a fucking snob (which he seems to imply has happened before). It probably wasn’t a waste of money since it seems like they live on a large property and can afford to practically take a piss on a laptop.

I don’t see why you guys think he needed to use another form of punishment.
First off, it’s his fucking kids, he can raise them how he wants and seems like a fair guy.
Second, she did this before. AS IN, she got a punishment before this for the same thing and DID NOT LEARN FROM THAT ONE. So a harsher punishment seems to be in order.
You are applying your own crap to it and taking a fairly biased opinion either way. He’s something rare these days: A fair but harsh parent (little extravagant with the vid but it’s a humility thing) that gives second chances and doesn’t cut slack when it backfires on him, I’ve had to many friends and seen to many kids who walk all over their parents and have no idea what the fuck respect means. Also, a lot of them frequent websites like SRK, imagine that.
Lets be honest most people that post on SRK don’t have parents.
Regarding dealing with stuff, pretty much yea. Unless the network starts getting affected or some entity makes a call/request, besides the usual, it’s pretty quiet. When there is a need though, there is a need and you better pray you aren’t doing anything you’re not supposed to because I can see all computers on the network, every site you’re visiting, I don’t care if you think you’re lolgg secure VPN or proxy because I can just screen shot or even record your screen and just send it to the boss of your department.
Kids need to stop being spoiled, they need to learn to be responsible and held accountable for their actions.
I’m glad the father called her out on the disrespect she showed towards their helper. Feel people that aspect of her little rant is overlooked due to the disrespect she showed towards her parents. It is people like her that treat employees like complete shit when they go into a store.
