Don’t knock off leysritt till you play her! She’s pure, unfiltered bullshit!
Thanks for the vids. I generally have alot of problems doing the combos with archer. More specificially the stance cancel 2c 228c 2c 623b 228c cancels on pad. Though i should have an arcade stick sometime very soon, Until then im stuck using a ps2 pad(fail)
We’ve / I’ve played her man, her entire game gets shut down by sidestep / blocking and just throwing her afterwards. She’s also got the lowest defense in the game. I love her man, but she really isn’t any good, which I guess says alot about your tourney.
I have to agree with Chibi, She is terrible and honestly, I dont have a clue as to why Kirei(or well… Anyone of that matter) would lose to her. That one has me completely confused
I will try to win the next tournament I’m running with Leysritt.
chibi, theres definitely no reason to bash the whole tourney just b/c of the character that won. first of all its meta`, who you know is good in general. second the whole tourney (all games) was a ton of fun. everything was run well and on time. ppl had fun before and after. plus the game just came out 2 weeks ago (i just got my copy on friday) and its not like theres tons of vids to show the matchups of console-only chars.
btw, im pretty sure you didnt mean it in that way. but the statement itself was careless.
Cuz nearly all of the people in the tourney didn’t know she had super armor on pretty much all her moves before I actually used her in casuals; Almost all of the people didn’t know fully charged 2c was unblockable. Almost no videos of Leysritt exist, especially since she’s console only.
These are probably things you wouldn’t figure out unless someone actually told you, if you use her, or actually had a chance to play against her. Which, let’s face it, the game came out a couple weeks ago so there’s not a lot of things people know yet when most people are still working on combos for their own character to bother even knowing about another character they don’t play.
A Few Leysritt Notes:
5c:
-5c tracks opponent if they sidestep too early, otherwise it’s side stepable right when it comes down. I personally do 5c after I see the opponent move and they’re in range.
-Pushblocking Ley’s 5c is a really good counter if you see it in a gatling because it’ll toss you out of Ley’s 2c range. But then again if you pushblock, punishing depends on how much attack range your character has. Ley’s could omit 5c and go straight into 2c in a gatling which might throw the opponent off if they’re looking to pushblock 5c, which she can either leave uncharge or charge for unblockable, which is where she has a pretty good mixup.
**2c: **
-2c charged is such a good attack. If you’re coming from Ley’s 5c and your opponent didn’t pushblock you, you’ll have a healthy amount of blockstun that leaves the opponents options limited. A couple ways to get out of it is to reversal super, reflect guard, or reversal backdash. If Ley’s sees that the opponent starts doing one of these, it’s probably good to start leaving 2c uncharged or only half-charged to where the blockstun time of 5c just ends to and 2c would hit right when the opponent gets right out of blockstun. I don’t know whether the opponent can buffer super motion during blockstun or backdashes during blockstun, but if they can’t, then they’ll probably get punished for their efforts since they’ll be trying to get out of a half-charged 2c which hits low. Everyone was telling me at the tourney that they tried to jump of out it, but I’m going to guess 2c is stupid good and will also tag jump out attempts. If 2c is blocked, or even pushblocked, a really good follow up is 236c.
-After 236236a super, if the opponent has no meter to reversal super or reflect guard, 2c charged is the perfect move to do because the exact moment the opponent gets up is right when it hits.
236c:
-236c is another good move with massive superarmor. It takes less hits than 5c though, the tradeoff is you travel across the screen. Pretty good if you want to go through projectiles, but not multi-hit projectiles. My favorite mixup is to reflect cancel into throw inbetween blocked hits 2 and 3. It’s pretty hard to react to because the opponent will be holding 4 to block. I’m pretty sure that in order to break throws, you have to hit 6a+b, so if the opponent is holding 4 to block that 3rd hit, reacting to pretty much an instant throw off reflect guard and having to change 4 into 6a+b is going to be really hard. Even if they do throw break it, you’re pretty much put back into neutral advantage which isn’t bad at all.
-Followup to 236c on hit is either 6c or 623a to whatever combo.
623c:
-Her DP that again has massive superarmor and starts up extremely fast. Really good to get out of oki-mixups and reflect cancelling in the middle of it to reduce recovery on block is good. The best thing about this move is that if it does hit, the opponent is in a fixed position after the 3rd hit because of the bounce it gives to allow to to activate into DP loop and then 236236a super. Uses a bit of meter.
2b:
-Another noteworthy move is 2b because it has massive range and can be followed up by 236c on hit into combo, even from max range. I think it might be the longest ranged move in the game. Can’t say it makes up for Ley’s lack of projectiles, but it’s available and might even surprise some opponents because of the range it has.
j.c:
-I think it tracks a sidestepping opponent if they’re too close? It doesn’t make sense, but I saw it a few times and even I was like wtf? If you can, I think a good followup on hit is 6a, 5b, 623c into activate to dp loop. Oh, and this has super armor too.
I recorded a combo vid and posted on youtube a week or two ago. But these were pretty much the combos I ran during the tourney. Iono, I think it’s pretty good damage (~40-50%) for only needing 1 bar of super and having really easy to do combos (for now), but that could just be me.

Get a better gameplan imo.
:wgrin:
Well I suppose lack of knowledge could do that… I have actually fought against her alot in the last few weeks that the game has been out so i actually know of those things you mentioned. The only character i havent fought against much here is caster. A Large ammount of lancer players though

No, I didn’t mean it in that way, more then anything it’s a jab against devildigimon for losing to Leys, since he was talking so much shit and what not.
Get a better character.
I mean just BLOCKING (and / or pushblock) beats her pretty damn badly.

Yeah, so don’t do moves that can be punished when blocked or pushblocked, duh. And you can’t block charged 2c.
She’s da best servant in the game. Berserker isn’t going to serve you tea and biscuits. Waaayyy better than your wheelchair needing whore.

I wish I could read the damage on that Dark Saber combo to see how worthwhile it really is to use. Looks fancy as hell though. Also oki 236c into 421c unblockable O GOD
Sorry to ask this again, but is there a list of the character specific mini games in mission mode?
It’s exactly as meta says. No-one knew anything about Leysritt.
Despite what you all may think, the quality of play at the tourney was indeed great considering how long we’ve had to practice. Hell even j1n, who doesn’t even know how to bnb with sabre, had an amazing rushdown! The vids will speak for themselves.
Would you like some super armor with your tea?
Leysritt’s going to win handily against anyone that hasn’t played against her, but that’s not exactly the formula for a decent character.
@meta: good stuff. My thoughts:
-
5c: bad move overall, IMO. Big startup and distinct animation make it really easy to see, so pushblock/reflect on reaction is going to be the norm once people get a bit more experience. AFAIK, doesn’t cancel to anything except 2c, so while the opponent’s options are limited, so are yours. Absolutely suicidal recovery. Does stun forever on CH though.
-
2b is hard to hit confirm to 236c (maybe you can do it, I can’t); if the 236c is slightly late it will whiff. Something like 2b -> 6b may be better.
-
236c isn’t too bad on normal block; I don’t have any frame data, but it can’t be more than a few frames of disadvantage, if any. Pretty big startup though (the part where she’s just spinning around), and is easily pushblocked/reflected on any hit. I find this works better as a DP than 623c; you can punish/react to stuff from pretty far away, and leads to ~3k damage even with no meter. Useful after backdash or pushblock for stuffing any followup.
-
623c is terrible without RC/activation, IMO; totally unsafe on block, and can’t even link to anything without canceling AFAIK. Decent as a “get the fuck off me” button given its speed and ridiculous super armor, I guess. I still think 236c is better :P.
-
j.c is pretty unreliable, and I’ve never seen the tracking you’re talking about. Maybe I’m just using it wrong. I think j.s is a more interesting air-to-ground option, as it has huge stun on counterhit (enough to land, 5b, 6b, etc.); no superarmor though :/.
Waiting eagerly for those vids.
zzzz you talk too much.
Good shit on the FUC tournament
looking forward to the vids
On another note, Sp00ky recorded vids for a FUC round robin session today, so you guys can look forward to that when he uploads it.
