Why would Rin be top tier over Saber/Caster/Archer? I know she’s good but she never struck me as being better than those three. I’m sure there’s something I’m missing but I’m not sure what it could be.
IMO, from what I’ve seen, played, and observed:
God Tier:Gil
Top Tier:Caster, Saber, Archer, Lancer
Mid Tier:Kirei, Rin
Mid-Low/low:Everyone else
Cause rin has huge damage, even off of a throw, awesome wakeups, versatility, etc.
Any tiny hit leads into a pretty big combo, and at the end, she can toss a jewel and stuff to continue pressure. She also has a semi-infinite against the wall, where she gets a ton of meter, and then if she throws you, it’s totally possible to take off 70% life or so by ending with her big-ass laser super.
I just find it funny that you, who have been playing for a week, maybe 2, are completely doubting the people who Arcadia magazine asked.
Blocked Jewel is so +++ frames it’s a free throw or more strings into more jewels.
Her throw goes into her BnB and is hardly scaled at all, it’s quite common to just take off 50% after one with a single D cancel and laser.
Lol <37 find a Suyori (Rin) vid on nico for us to all see. I’m having trouble finding it now.
But yeah, Rin is kinda scary. 50%+ off throw and in some cases far worse. Combos carry you to the wall and shes building like 2lvls off this shit mind you. If she excludes the the super from the combo then its likely she’ll go for the 646>Just frame flame punch for GUARANTEED knockdown into meaty 214A (wind) then you’re fucked cus that leads to nasty hi/lo from there: Fast fall jB or fast fall empty>2a or do a late coin toss and throw…again. Her foot speed is amazingly quick. Her zoning ability doesn’t seem to be all that great though (limited coins force you to close quarters [no pun intended]). Still it looks like it has the potential to be annoying with when applied correctly. At least that’s what I can see in her matchups (go, theory fighter!).
…damn, I want to use her now.
What’s so good about Gilgamesh and Lancer? I think Saber is better than them, but I’m a clueless newbie D:
I don’t understand the game very well yet myself, but I will just say what I know based on reading Arcadia and some BBS:
Rin is top tier because she has one of the best damage outputs in the game, and has a semi-infinite like HeartNana said. She can also fight from anywhere on the screen, and is very versatile all around.
The same goes for Gilgamesh and Lancer, they’re both very well-rounded and can fight from anywhere on the screen.
Saber deals a lot of damage as well, but she doesn’t do as well in long range compared to the top tier characters.
Caster is considered solid mid, and has one of (if not the) best okizeme in the game. But she doesn’t deal a lot of damage and can be put in situations that are very disadvantageous to her. She just doesn’t fare as well in situations where she has to fight the opponent up close.
I wouldn’t doubt anything Mike says, btw - since he really is considered some kind of beast in the game. He can apparently play almost the entire cast, and pretty much whipped all the best players from Kantou that traveled to beat him in a kumite.

They’re unrelated. There is no character correlation between Fate and Tsukihime. There are some between Tsukihime and Kara no Kyoukai, but I don’t think people would want to hear that right now…
Some of the vids from the Mike kumite are on Tougeki Damashii vol. 11 DVD, but I haven’t seen them uploaded anywhere and also missed to opportunity to buy that issue of Tougeki Damashii.
Also, I find it harder to find vids for this game compared to other popular fighting games in general for whatever reason.

Wrong, they all take place in the same “universe” and there’s the occasional reference to other parts. Like Zelretch, who is a Dead Apostle from Tsukihime, shows up in Heaven’s Feel to talk to Rin.
I attempted to play around with Saber’s otg combo yesterday, but then I realized I had no idea how to link to the OTG either :looney:. The one thing I did discover was how to do her better, edge of the screen loop instead.
The idea is to either land a 236236a or 623b > RC at the edge of the screen, Then do 214c->c then alternate between doing 2147a->c > 2147b->c. You can alternate resetting the height between 6239b > RC or 236236a. You need to cancel the backdashes really fast for it to work
