Doesn’t really fit Kasumi’s M.O. either. She seems more honorable than that. Plus, by the end of AOF3 (as hinted by her ending) she seems like less of a mortal enemy, and more of a personal rival/friend of Ryo. But, hey, we may never know…
Online is the way to go. It’s hit or miss in the stores. Don’t waste your time with Gamestop, whatever you do.
Well, there is still the thing that Geese still sees the Sakazakis as a threat in their own right. If it was Geese (or some one acting in his interests), chances are he would be using the Dojo Busting incident as a way to strike back at Ryo and the Sakazaki bunch for his own personal reasons, whatever that might be.
Though personally, I doubt even that much. If Geese is truly dead in the AOF/FF/MOTW continuity, there really wouldn’t be much reason for some one like Billy to go after the Sakazakis. And if the KOF:MI series is anything to be based off of for character insight, Billy would probably be more likely to just settle down with his earnings and give him and Lilly a peaceful life at last.
I agree with this too. As much as the Todohs may have a rivalry with the Kyokugen dojo, I’d doubt that Ryuhaku or Kasumi would actually endorse such a thing.
…What about Eiji, or some other member of the Kisaragi clan, though? The Kisaragis are definitely enemies of the Kyokugen Dojo (in a much more extreme manner than the Todohs), and seemingly have no problem with wanton death and destruction. In both AOF2 and KOF95, the main reasons he entered those tournaments were as convenient ways to kill off the Sakazakis. Furthermore, SNK basically explained away why he wasn’t in past KOFs from 95 to XI because of his “extremely violent tendencies”.
So, canonically, there’s reason to believe that Eiji, or some other Kisaragi family member fitting for the MOTW era, may have blasted the Dojo to send a message to Marco, and ideally, also to the current Mr. Karate (Ryo). It’d make sense to put such a character in a sequel, in my opinion, especially since I never understood why they made Marco and Tizoc rivals for some reason, and it would just adhere to the overall thing of how MOTW was just a means to continue tying up lose ends in the AOF/FF-verse…
Any way, storyline ranting over…I’m STILL looking for this game. At this point, I may just have to include the US release in a future play-asia order and just save on shipping…
Speaking of storylines, anyone know or believe if the extended ending at the end of the SFC/SNES port of “Art of Fighting” is canon or not? Remember, the port was released before AoF2 was (3-4 months before to be exact). Takuma does NOT look like the old coot we’ve come to know from AoF2 onwards:
Imo it might have been some hotblooded student of Kasumi. By the time of Garou her dad should be dead and she should be the head of the school. Student learns of their rivalry and decides to proove himself to his master by beating the crap out of rival school. Kasumi isn`t happy about this so she sends him to the tournament so he could challenge Marco in a fair fight.
It depends on what you want to go on… if the whole story is even cannon in the first place… because the story takes place like 10 years before FF happens, and then they go and make KOF… and all the characters are the same age… so it’s up to you to decide.
I play RBFF competitively, where can I find some actual vids of top level play for this game? I search youtube and find a bunch of RBS casuals that either teach me nothing, have repeated predictable stuff that I can’t learn from, or are just plain mindless uploads. I’ve been into this game for ages, so its fun to bring the flavor back… So far I’m killing with Billy, but Kim is my best. Yamazaki’s meter building is disgusting in this also, hes gonna be one of my mains. infinites galore - RB series.
DG,
when rocking the RBS mai, don’t use that chain to much, its just break bait.
It is true…but even so, I’m really doubting that SNK really takes the notion all the seriously. Or at least, certainly not how a number of us do.
I mean, even in the case of old-school games like FF3 and RBSpecial/2, you could often get KOF-related cameos in-game. For instance, in FF3, Kensou and Kyo are in the background of Bob’s stage for no reason, while Chang and Choi can be found in Kim’s stages in both RBSpecial and RB2.
I think it’s safe to say that, at least at one point in time, they may have tried to make it easy and get all of the mainstream SNK series to run in the same time line. Failing that (and furthermore injecting MOTW and KOF:MI into the equation), they just went back to the old stand-by of having each series take place in its own continuity.
haha, wassup krauser. been some time:rofl:. RB1 stuff seems to be pretty rare on the net. its actually a very deep game with a lot of things to abuse and infinites (yamazaki, franco and then some) and all of that. why dont you try and play RB2? or you already know that one? RBS is mad fun as well, but i think RB1 is a lot, and i mean a lot deeper than RBS. though RBS is more mindless fun and just shits all over RB1’s looks. also kim in RB1 isnt really fare now is he?:wgrin:. though like all RB games, almost everybody is overpowered (well, not so much in RB2 though) so its not THAT bad.
Kim’s unpunishable, fast, powerful Hangetstuzan is out of control in RB1.
He should do his “evil cannot be forgiven” pose every morning when he looks into his bathroom mirror.
I think he sorta looks like Takuma…just with grayer hair.
And, I know that “defeated” is censorship speak for “killed”…but, the way Takuma spoke makes it sound like Ronnet was a fighter. Anyone know if she was?
Anyone have any luck finding this in the GTA? None of the usual chains in Oakville have it, I’m going to check EB and overpriced Microplay @ Square One today but I’m not getting my hopes up. Any suggestions?
So, I must half retract my earlier cosign, as I got a copy from BA2 from a random Gamestop I went too. I still say it sucks that I had to go to 3 of them, they still didnt have it, and the one that did was way out of the way. And it wasnt showing up in their online search thing either. Hmmmm.
Good points all around. I play all but RBS in competition as I feel the same as you, RBS has beautiful, if not perfect presentation for the style at the time, but the gameplay has a major lacking factor to it. Kim is just to fun in RBFF, hes broken without a doubt, but RBFF isn’t known for its balance, and I play it to see how good a match I can have despite its horrid exploits.
The whole series to me is just for fun, feint fake out mix ups are really where its at in the RB series… Especially RB2. RB2 produces good matches, but nobody cares enough to follow it. (Which I understand, as this series just feels weird no matter how you slice it) Its odd that such a simple thing can make a style of play very flexible and you can layer these things. This idea was a evolution that we are seeing again in new games like SFIV for example. I’d have times with my RB2 bob where I’m just able to pressure so much, its comparible to May Lee’s bullshit in KOF 2002.
IMO garou MOTW was on the right track, that is until you see Kevin’s retarded good meter building, and the RB2 feint extensions that just make the game a race to land one good combo. I think Garou would have a bigger following if that game got a major revision for port releases.
The tiers in these games aren’t just Tiers in the sense of other games, they are tiers on a level slightly under the FFS - Jubei mentality, to where you could literally be a less well rounded player and learn more BS and just crush all with exploits.
Musolini, its good seeing you post again man. The Italian crew still making vids? I miss those old days, I released vids for RB2 and a KOF 2001 tapping exhibition for Takuma players and other jazz, but I’ve been lazy for ages on making new stuff.
Speaking of vids, I got the battle archives 2 compilation last week and I found a infinite with Alfred, probably old news, but its pretty straight forward, close sC, (two hits) cAC, sC, sC, cAC, etc, P-Power, dpA.
I made a vid of it for you guys

This mofo is banned at all american tourneys, if not I’ll take a dump on the set up.
