Fatal Fury Battle Archives 2 - American Release

Why do you keep saying this, AFTER you admit that multiple characters lose to Billy 9-1? If a character does that badly against a top-tier (especially the #1 character), he is not going to win tournaments since he would be too easy to counter-pick.

Hell, I won FR with Sokaku, and the most recent Japanese RB2 tournament was won by a Mary (one of the WORST characters in the game). I don’t think you can reasonably claim that Special has the upper hand in balance.

I will say that Special is crazy fun if you’re not taking it seriously, since most of the characters can do cool shit…but once you throw it into a tournament and people start fully abusing the line-shift, that cool shit mostly goes out the window and the game quickly becomes lame. I actually think RB1 is more interesting, honestly, though highly flawed in its own way.

Billy beats about 3 characters 9-1…but other than that the game is pretty well balanced overall…

Theres a reason why Billy is #1

Now I think Krauser, Bash, CAN beat Billy even though its a 9-1 matchup…but they gotta be REALLY REALLY careful…

Also about line shift…once again I countered that argument with my line chart…saying that people that say line shift ruins the game is a cop out weak excuse IMO…

People havent done enough thorough research to warrant or backup that claim…Show me where line shift ruins the game?? The 9-1 matchups?? Thats why there is an S Class…I got that covered… PLUS how to counter it with certain characters, hell I havent even FINISHED the line chart…what other reasons do you or anyone else have to justify that???

Like I say** I doubt people know RBS well at all thats what I am getting.**

Thats about as weak an argument as me saying Jack is top tier in WHP…

Very weak…theres plenty counters in RBS to line shifts…you just gotta know it…And my line shift chart illustrates just that.

Now I aint trying to tell anyone which game to like…thats on you…but I am saying that Line Shifts dont necessarily ruin the game…I’ve shown this TIME AND TIME AGAIN…and how to get around them…

I think my chart speaks for itself…then theres another dynamic I am exploring…what happens if one attack comes out BEFORE the other instead of the same time…priorities for some things change…

-Dark Geese

It arrived. Out of all the recent SNK compilations, I think this one is the prettiest and most well-rounded. Pick it up if you haven’t already.

One question, though. Where did they stash all of Geese’s moves in RB2? Are they hiding under the rug or something? In the closet? Under the bed?

Come out, come out, Shippu-Ken…I need you…:frowning:

It’s a LOT easier to win with a mid tier in RB2 then RBSP. I think all but one of the chars is viable in tourney play in RB2 (and you debate that one- so I could be wrong on it) , you can’t really say that about RB1 or RBSP. Sokaku isn’t a chump character- he’s upper mid to me. The only chars I think are clearly stronger then Sokaku are Kim and Geese.

Yeah, I just picked it up the other day. Kinda boring in single player, wish my friends were interested in playing.

Goddamn, why the hell was Garou not included on this? Makes no damn sense.

It wasn’t included since they already have released the game for PS2.

It came out in Japan indeed.

The thing is, since they’ll be including KOF94 & KOF98 in the US version of Orochi Collection it would had been nice if they had included MOTW in this collection. For me it isn’t a big deal since I already have the JPN version of MOTW but still I think it would had been a nice addition.

There is no mid tier in RBS…everyone is tournament worthy except Cheng in RBS…

So that goes both ways…

Yeah I thought that Garou was in Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol.2 but I guess not after all. I have Garou on Dreamcast anyway thats good enough for me; I know its the “sucky” version but as long as it don’t load I can care less:rofl: I’ll end up getting FFBA Vol.2 on Amazon or something…

Agreed. I had been looking for a copy of this for a while and didn’t understand why none of the stores around here had any. Looks like I am going to have to make a long drive to deep VA to get it. Boo.

Funny you guys mention Garou 2, since TRUEI over at SNK-Capcom has made some interesting remarks about it. There’s a decent chance that SNK is already in the process of making it.

IIRC the OLD snk was already busy with making a MOTW II for the OG neo geo MVS and AES. in one way its fucked up they started but didn’t finish the product. but knowing how much each character takes it wouldnt have more than 14 characters, or lesses bg’s. which would be fucked up anywayz. so a NEW MOTW II on X2 would be the shit. as long as gatos dad and the gym-buster (aka yamazaki) is in it as well. grant should be dead. kain saved. terry looking for rock,. rock with kainlain. story was damn good IMO. too bad it didn’t continue. hope 2 will come out and do the game justice.

So everyone is top or low-tier? If chars lose to other chars 9-1, there is tiering in the game period. I can’t think of any 9-1 matchups in RB2, even involving Tung. Tung actually wins slightly matchups against a couple of chars. I think Chonrei-Tung is 4.5-5.5.

Why do people continue to believe the Gym Buster in Garou was Yamazaki?

It’s about 10x more likely that it was Kasumi?

And since MOTW was handled by the same team that did Last Blade, you could have expected the same kind of changes for MOTW2 that were in Last Blade 2:
Not a HUGE amount of new characters (maybe 3-4), an abrupt story, a lot of annoying bugs
and glitches due to the game being rushed in one year, and Freeman turning into a zombie.

Anyway, on topic…where have people actually found this game?
For me, it’s looking very likely I’ll have to order it online…

Found at The Exchange in Ohio
good chance it might show up at toys r us too

Its matchup based actually…The reason the S Class is there because of the matchups…S class takes care of the matchups…

Then they’re obviously a top tier.
RB2 has matchups, but it’s more balanced overall. Not even Geese or Krauser in RB2 runs roughshod over anyone for free really.

Nope. It’s either him or Geese (not dead…surprise!!). It’s someone very violent, skilled, and greedy who’s been in the ff series before.

yamazaki is known for busting up dojos for fun. hes from FF. big chance he could be it. yama in MOTW2 would have been IMO.

Um, and what led you to this conclusion?

When Yamazaki busts dojos he kills people–you know, kind of like what he did to the
Kyokugen dojo in KOF 97?
Nobody was killed in the Kyokugen dojo in Garou. That would point to someone who has a dislike of the Kyokugen clan but not violent bloodlust against them (which rules
out Eiji and Yamazaki).
And Geese??? Now SNK storylines often don’t make a lot of sense, but there’s still a little thing they abide by for the most part called “motivation”.
In other words, if Geese was alive…what would motivation would he have to travel to the dojo of Khushnood Butt OF ALL PEOPLE and bust out some scrubs who he wouldn’t have believed to be even worth soiling his hands over?
