FAQ: Buying Arcade Sticks & Parts in Canada

i’m up to 120 dollars in duty on three diffrent different orders, guess i’m just unlucky.

Canadian Joysticks looks and sounds nice after all the reviews. Looking to buy the Qanba 3 in 1 duel mod and a regular generic TE stick but my heart is set out for the Eightarc Fusion duel mod as well. I am still looking for TE cases that are gutted or some thing along those lines from all these sites in Canada because I want to make my own hitbox stick less fight stick. The steel plate and cases are hard to find for some reason for me. Like it is the best kept secret since the Illuminati took over the maple leafs so we wont win the cup!

Canadian Joysticks has been a great place to get excellent Japanese sticks and parts, especially for those of us in Atlantic Canada. RandyT from GroovyGameGear has never disappointed, nor has Andy Warne over @ Ultimarc.com. Great service and variety of shipping options all around.

Well that is just Prime. I used to shop out of lizard licks before this and that had happened but I am in Toronto so I know Playdium would have a few spare parts around one time or another. Even though right now what I really need is a reliable Canadian one stop shop where it would not cost me too much on shipping so I could finally get someone else to do my custom work. Like the Plexiglas, boards, pcb’s and even if possible a hitbox steel template design. Canadian joysticks just looks so good and the prices seem fair as well.

Does any one know if they do custom work? Or if I could get pointed in the right direction here in T.Dot. I have a general idea which requires some running around but I really want to support ours business too.

(side note) I used to make sticks 20 years ago and I am now want to try again due to MK being back on the seen in a big way.

i recently ordered from playdium two, jlfs with plates octo restrictors harnesses and 22 happ buttons. the bill with shipping was 180 cad
after a week of my order not being filled, i called them and asked what was up and they said they didnt have everything i wanted so they couldnt fullfill the order.

so i ordered from focus attack in the states
my order
2 jlfs with plates
harnesses
octo gate and circle gate
clear red and clear ball top
white and red bat top with adapters
16 sanwa 30mm screw buttons
and 6 seimitsu 24mm clear screw buttons
shipped and at my house within a week
for 180$
no duties

and im in ontario
i think shipping was like 25 er 30 bucks from the states and it was like 20 from playdium in ontario where i live hahahah

wow, lucky you didn’t have to pay duty from the US. lately every time i order i have to pay :frowning:

Looks like I need to update the OP. I still have lizardlick on there. Where are canadians getting their parts now? I want to try out some of the new Sanwa silent stuff.

I mostly get my parts from FocusAttack.com since their shipping is cheaper than anywhere in Canada. Gamesharkstore.ca is still pretty good although some of my products weren’t properly packaged/missing some parts. Playdium Store and Canadian Joystick is pretty good too.

Out of all of them, Focusattack is the best option for me, can’t beat the selections and shipping prices.

Don’t count out Paradise Arcade Shop.

They have extremely fast shipping from Hawaii surprisingly enough. (for 20$ to Ontario, not bad!)

They do tailor made joysticks, and parts for sale. Based in Toronto

Interesting.
I had a look at their selection, and while the custom joystick-casing part is cool, their parts-selection is so-so (no Seimitsu stuff), but they carry other electronics stuff like USB jacks and 4PDT switches which is nice. However, their prices aren’t in the same competitive level as the other places that carry the same products. Their prices for parts is pretty consistently double of what any other online retailer (Focus Attack, Paradise Arcade Shop, Canadian Joysticks, etc) charges.

Yes, I noticed that too. Maybe if Torontoians can purchase in person and save on shipping/customs that will offset the higher prices.

Sorry to Necro, but is anyone selling JLFs in western Canada? Canadian Joysticks has been out of stock for a while

We carry Sanwa JLF’s in our arcade shop over at Gameroom Designs Canada. Here’s a direct link to the Sanwa JLF joysticks, as well as to the Arcade Shop.

Here is a Amazon Canada link for the Neutrik NAUSB-W
