i would think the quals would be on jap sticks since they are going to be using those in japan.

You can show up on Sunday if you’re only attending AE. Just try to show up before 2pm since that’s when we’ll be making brackets. Right now we’re doing a whole crapload of panel wiring for sticks and buttons.

Blind Pick is generally in effect, with an exception. Characters are declared before each matchup. Furthermore, characters of the same name/type but of a different version (i.e.: ST Sagat and WW Sagat) are considered different characters and are allowed to co-exist within the same team.

The following are the official SBO rulings for WW characters, to the best translation of my ability from Japanese (www.tougeki.com):
If a WW character is used, the team MUST DECLARE their use of the WW character out loud. This means you lose the advantage of Blind Pick. However, your team also must decide on a Reserve Character, which is under Blind Pick protection and does not have to be revealed.
If both teams have the same WW character declared on the team, then each WW character will fight the other team’s secret Reserve Character so as to avoid each other directly. If both WW characters win and must face each other, then (FFA rule) the player who had the better round win record takes priority. If both are tied, it will be determined by coin-flip. The losing player must use their team’s Reserve Character. Please keep this risk in mind if choosing a WW character for a match.
