Our event dates were coordinated with the help of John Choi of SRK and Andy McGuire of Tokyo Game Action. Since TGA will be hosting 3rd Strike and Anniversary Edition qualifiers as well in June, we highly recommend considering them as a ‘Second Chance’ qualifier if you’re serious about going to Japan. Please visit their site for more details at http://www.tokyogameaction.com. Their address is here:

We may have previously reported having two teams for 3rd Strike- We’ve since received a decision from Tougeki that we will only be getting ONE team for 3rd Strike.

All matches will be recorded with player and background feeds, and there will be a singles tourney after the Qualifier event for each respective game. ALL money from these Singles will go towards top three winners- this is not a fundraiser for the winning team!

Post-tournament events:
-SF3:3s Superpot Singles: Saturday, May 12th, 7:00pm, $20 entry fee, 70/20/10 split
-SF2:AE Superpot Singles: Sunday, May 13th, 7:00pm, $20 entry fee, 70/20/10 split

For more details, please PM us or visit www.denjin-video.com.

Rules are subject to change.

Additional rules:

After consultation with the owner of FFA and with John Choi of SRK:

A Drug-Free policy will be in effect. Being under the influence of restricted substances, including marijuana and alcohol, is grounds for instant disqualification, with the exception of prescriptions.

Harassment or disorderly conduct during an SBO-sanctioned event may result in immediate disqualification from the SBO Qualifiers. This includes: inflammatory language (‘fighting words’ which are not protected by Free Speech rights), physical altercations, and/or intimidation (direct or by proxy).

Furthermore, harassment, disorderly conduct and/or assault after a warning from FFA will result in a one-month suspension from the venue, including all events. Committing and/or organizing a felony against another FFA patron on premises (including the parking lot) will be a permanent ban.

Disorderly conduct by an SBO Qualified player may result in disciplinary action. This applies within Japan as well.

Both Michael Fauson(Pyrolee) and Yi Wang(5 Star) are on official warning notice.

Additional AE (Anniversary Edition) Rules (As communicated to me by Andy McGuire of TGA)

Current SBO rulings for a WW vs WW character match (aka “N-Type”) state that Rock-Scissors-Paper will determine who may remain as their WW Character. Furthermore, characters of the same name/type but of a different version (i.e.: ST Sagat and WW Sagat) are considered different characters and are allowed to co-exist within the same team.

Since Blind Pick is in effect, if we run into a situation where two teams both have an N-Type selected (Team 1 has WW-Sagat and ST-Guile and Team 2 has WW-Sagat and HF-Zangief) then the matchup will AUTOMATICALLY be shifted so that the two WW-Sagats will not fight each other. So match 1 would be WW-Sagat vs HF-Gief and match 2 would be ST-Guile vs. WW-Sagat.

not gonna lie, sticks were fucking garbage, and have been known to be shitty at ffa. not many choices now a days but still. fix that shit please. not cool to be blocking an ex machine gun blow and have it unblock halfway through… both sides on every machine are not up to par imo. im sure many will agree. pz

hmmm i see now.

Team razor Ramos Edge Will Win That Shit.

Fuck Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah Son

So does this mean each team will have an option of playing on Japanese sticks or are all the H2H cabs American sticks only?

Poonage: We’re considering that, yes. We have the capability of doing so.

Watson: Hey, next time sticks aren’t working, just give a holler at whoever’s working at the counter to write it down for me or Shogo. Scrubs and mashers don’t know when the sticks are broken or not so I usually don’t hear about it until good players test them out. Since it’s day before tourney i’ll go to town on them today. Thanks for the heads up

anybody playing AE at family fun?

Is the jap cab going to be set up anytime soon so we can practice on it?

Last time I checked it was working fine during the last RanBat. Come Pyro, if you need practice on the jap cab, go to AI so you can play people that actually want to use them to begin with.

Also Tom, is it $25 a team or a person.

I meant an actual h2h jap cab. I’ll check out the one at FFA 2night.

Edit: The one at arcade infinity is two small to accommodate 2 players. That’s why I stopped going there. Plus I think they’re sanwa sticks and SBO/Gamers Vision use seimitsu.

Happytang: $25 a person for entry fees.

Pyrolee: We’ve got Seimitsus on ours but we’re missing some restrictor parts for it, so it’s not 100% up to par. But Sanwas are fine to practice on too, since not all arcades use Seimtsus.

Actually, I believe our main cab, the one with the big screen uses Seimitsu’s, so as far as stick wise, I think that’s your best bet.

On the down side though, we now have 2 machines in the back, but they are unable to become H2H because of the board I think.

hell yea me and my friend will defetnetly be there

oh yea and also when you say no duplicate character on a team does that mean like no (super T) blanka for my friend then mine is champ edition blanka is that acceptable?

SBO uses Seimitsu sticks… do you have any idea which model? And do what type of restrictors do they use? I have an impress cab with octogonals and am wondering if I should change it to be akin to SBO style.

I believe most Japanese cabs use LS-32 sticks.

IMO the best sticks had an octagonal feel to them…I hated the 4 corner ones.

those sticks better be up to par when i get there, cause if there is some bs, ill just fucking break it and force you guys to fix that shit. just a future notice incase you guys are lazy over there and wanna run a tourney on half ass cabinets.

pz

What about the people who don’t have teams. Are they put on random teams?

I have that same question can a super t blanka and a champ blanka be on the same team? Hopefully beef bowl goes so I can for once see that he doesn’t use turbos

Hey Watson, I have nothing but respect for you. But this is FFA, not an arcade inside a movie theater. Everyone has my word that those sticks are going to be in top condition for the tournament. We’re putting in brand new switches and buttons before each tournament. Bad execution doesn’t look good for the camera, and we’re recording these matches for Denjin Video.

Thanks for your donation to Denjin, by the way. We really appreciate it and it’s going towards some new equipment.

re: Same Character rules - We’re waiting for word regarding the specific rules for teams. Also, I suspect we’ll have to have a Champion Edition board ready for CE Bison vs CE Bison matchups.
