I think he means World Warrior not Championship Edition
Is there a working AE setup at Family Fun? Preferably the actual cabinet/stick setup going to be used for the qualifier.
I know Watson and I want to get some practice in.
what is this CE vs CE thing all about? What’s the reasoning behind this rule?
We’ve got an AE setup at FFA, it’s head to head though, since Japan will be running it on H2H as well. I’m headed to FFA tonight and I’ll get some repairs and maintenance in while I’m at it.
BTW, this CE vs CE rule is because two players cannot select the same CE-type character. Or actually, it may be WW vs WW, but boss characters weren’t selectable in WW, so I’m running with CE.
It ww vs ww not CE vs CE.
im heading tonight. I’ll tell you guys how good the controls are :).
On the AE machine the 1p side does not register down and offensive crouch, getting low punch dash to come out with balrog was very hard.
On the 2p side, the short button sticks and it was hard to jump towards.
any idea what speed 1,2,or3 will the tournament use for AE
Bebop: Right now the sticks are Happ “Perfect 360s”, which are not so perfect. Tuesday is the earliest that I’ll have access to install Happ Competition (Switch) sticks on the cabinet. I ran out of certain supplies over the weekend and I just managed to restock.
re: Speed - I can get that information from Tokyo Game Action, I’ll update the first post when I find out.
AE should have 8 ways not 360’s
You mean Happ Ultimates? I think we might have some in stock. They feel a bit cheaper than the Competitions, though.
since you are running this on h2h you should have jap sticks too. wtf, go all the way or dont go at all… if not, run it on the big screen like it used to be. thanks.
I was there on Saturday.
1p joystick is too tight. Barely any room for movement. A good stick should be much looser. The Fierce button is also funny. It only works 75% of the time.
2p. seemed better but joystick still needs to be looser. Doesn’t block down consistently.
I have another important question. You and your partner have to choose one character throughout the tournament or can we change characters every game, just as long as it’s not the same character as your partner’s?
unfortunately the usa has nutt hugged japan style and you are only allowed 1 character throughout the tourney. taking away from versatile skill and american counter character matching. lame… anyways, so whats the deal?? is it h2h or what? cause if thats the case, it better be on jap sticks too. none of this half half shit. all jap or all american set up. no such thing as in between. pz
You mean you can only use one character (i.e. CE Bison) even if you win, lose, or draw???

SBO rules are that the hardware must be Arcade-specific, so we’re actually allowed to run it on US sticks (I don’t know what their stance is on switching out US sticks for players this year though, sometimes they ask, sometimes not. Last year they asked if we wanted US sticks in 3s, actually.)
It has to be H2H. That being said, I think three months is a long enough time to get used to Japanese arcade controls after winning Quals and before SBO Finals itself. Also, since I stated that there was a USA/JPN stick option since the beginning, if people have been training for months, I can’t change the rule to JPN only with a week and a half to go. What I’m planning on doing is to have interchangeable panels on Japanese cabinets with either USA/JPN setups. It’s not that hard to do and it only takes a minute to switch out.
I know we don’t have a Japanese setup at FFA for AE at the moment. If I can get my hands on a second board then I’ll try to have it installed with Japanese sticks. How’s that sound?
PS: I still need to get Speed information but I’m going to assume for now that it’ll be on Turbo/Speed 3.
